*If this doesn't belong let me know* was heading into Starbucks in downtown London(ON,Canada) today and saw this Had to Snap a Picture. And The other week when picking up my tickets at the Venue ( posted in the Bud gardens Show Forum Already) https://s16.postimg.org/ubsddl0qd/15203182_10154735089144254_3236147607216561112_n.jpg Feeling the Love <35 points

Yeah, Roman Empire was a cool time. The problem of history classes is that they usually reduce everything to lists of names, dates and facts and the actually interesting/fun stuff doesn't get mentioned.4 points

Yeah, that's what we do too and on top of this the teacher is a royal dick. Literally the only reason why he hasn't been fired yet is that he's an union leader.3 points

Exactly. We just memorize meaningless dates and facts, ignoring any beauty of the Roman culture.3 points

Weirdest place? School, during a History class, with my teacher dancing through the desks saying "how beautiful is this song!". It was BLVD of Broken Dreams. The best way not to get bored in a Roman empire lesson.3 points

Ugh I hated History! It didn't help that the most boring part (for me anyway) was Irish politics/changes in life in Ireland over the years, which unfortunately, was about 40% of the entire exam!2 points

Laughing at how angry some rancid fans are on FB that they're playing with gd: "It should be the other way round!" "Least I can leave early!" Don't think some of them even realise the connection the two bands have, it's quite funny to watch2 points

You hit the nail on the head with this. Btw, what we learned about the Rev. War was the American point of view (unsurprisingly), there was one lesson dedicated to it. I never thought about the British side of this - that's the problem with history in school: it's not about analyzing the events or drawing parallels with our present, it's memorizing loads of information with putting very little thought into it. I always have about 6 pages of notes from each lesson, it takes effort to write it all down fast enough - there's no time to think about it.1 point

not any news but Billie Joe gets mentioned in this hilarious article (sort of) http://thehardtimes.net/2015/12/07/roadie-swaps-out-of-tune-tim-armstrong-for-fresh-tim-armstrong-mid-song/1 point

Billie said that in 2010. It's included in Broadway Idiot.1 point

I just finished reading a book called "Walkin' on the Sun" by the bass player of Smash Mouth. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend the book (the story is mildly interesting but the spelling, grammar and writing in general is bad, bad, bad, bad. The text is huge and feels more like a wikipedia article than a novel.....stick to bass playing Paul, sorry!) But it does mention Green Day. Smash Mouth recorded in their 880 Studio and they felt a connection to each other because they are both sort of hated by parts of the music community. Sadly, the book made me like Smash Mouth less. They did not pay any dues and the guy basically admits that all the band members are scumbags and criminals. *shutters* but they did mention Green Day, so I'll give them that.1 point

I'm listening 'Foreverly' right now, it's been a while, and I can't stop thinking how beautiful Billie's voice sounds in it, for me it's the most beautiful his voice has ever sound (sorry, I always like to fangirl about it lol) , and I really really hope he does another record like that one, don't care if alone or with Norah, I'm just hoping for something like that again.1 point

Maybe the eyes, but the thing that makes him look like BJ is his bored expression IMO, Insomniac era, don't you think?1 point

Well, My Youtube Channel was taken down due to a copyright claim fom a person called "Paul Lewis". The video he caimed to be the owner is the Wigan 1991 shows, the one who has the Nativuty Play on the beggining... Just want to express here how disapointed I am for this... Don't know why people do things like this when other fans are just sharing things among each other, it is really sad...1 point

That feeling is so real!! I'm the other way round though, I fear everyone seeing my tweets so I rarely tweet celebs, even big ones - but I figured the American Idiot account would just chuckle and like the tweet if they saw it, not frigging retweet it!!1 point

Haha, whoops. Can you tell I posted that at 5am on the wrong side of sleep? Oh my god, this is definitely worse. I never actually think these people will see what I'm saying if I tag them, but I have to remind myself not everyone has the following that TSwift does I have a few friends who I have quite explicit conversations with about athletes, and I think that is the one and only time I refrain from tagging. I don't want anyone blocking me 😂 At least we embarrass ourselves with G rated enthusiasm.1 point

Haha! Something similar happened to me except possibly even more embarrassing - I tweeted that I did a bit of American Idiot musical choreography when American Idiot (the GD version) came on at a disco I was tipsy at, and tagged the UK musical's twitter handle. They retweeted it, and Lucas Rush (the UK St. Jimmy), the choreographer AND the director all liked my tweet LOL I saw some of this as well. I shouldn't have bothered, but I replied to one that said "I can't believe an actual punk band like Rancid are playing with those washed up indie emos Green Day" with, "you....are aware that they're friends and Tim directed Green Day's music video this year?"1 point
-
Yeah, I think they played it because awesome as f**k had just released at the time, but still, of all songs it was who wrote Holden Caulfield. Not complaining though, that's one of my faves!1 point

Still listening to it daily and loving it.1 point

I always interpreted "stop when the red lights flash" as referring to sex and temptation in the context of the albums, since Oh Love is about sexual tension and he tells the girl/himself "don't stop when the red lights flash" (ignore the warning signs, give in to temptation). Then he says it as more of a phrase by the time things have escalated to "I'll make you surrender". The "red lights" = forbidden contact, so them "flashing" is a warning. It reflects the whole "forbidden love" theme. I've never thought it's directly referring to his issues, but I guess we'll never know for sure since I doubt he'll talk about these songs now.1 point
