  2. Usually, my daughter (she's 2.5) likes to tease me by saying Green Day is "yucky" because she knows I pretend to get upset. The other day we were in the kitchen baking a cake for my mom's birthday and I said "I think we need some music to listen to, don't you? What should we listen to?" She thought for a moment and replied, "Deen Day, maybe?" Haha maybe YES baby girl Proud parent moment right there!

  4. Back story - at the end of the Australian tour of the 21CB tour, Green Day decided to prank their support act, like they always do, with strippers. During KFAD they decided to get pay back and and bring the strippers back out on stage.

  6. My only issue with King For A Day these days is that it seems more like rehearsed, forced fun and there's very little spontaneity to it because they've done it so many times in virtually the same way. Other than that, bring it on.

  7. Must have been hilarious to see that live . They used to drag Paper Lanterns out to 10 minutes while Billie put on clothes that people had thrown on stage, chucked water and did call and response instead during that time though. Since Dookie they've always made at least one song last a long time like that. Also I know I'm in the minority here but I don't really see the appeal of them playing a couple of extra short songs instead, like, that's what they do for the rest of the show and as long as I'm being entertained I'm not counting the number of songs . I like the variation of a bit of drawn out silliness being included rather than them just ripping through as many songs as they can the whole show. That said I'm pretty sure they have made it a bit shorter with their latest shows, so maybe more people will be happy with it.

  8. Love the song but when it's dragged out so long you could include 3 more short tunes in the set instead, or play it normally, mess around during it and move on. More people would like it more if that were the case. I saw them in '98 on the first tour with it and I don't remember it being extended too much. Billie did have his leopard print underwear or thong, they stole the entire festival with their performance.

  9. Hear hear I think it's a GDC thing? Only really seen it hated on here and only in the last few years. Always seen the crowd enjoying it and always a highlight of the show.

  10. I even dispute that . They play almost all their songs exactly the same every time (just playing through the song, or adding in the same traditions), but with KFAD they change up the costumes, stuff said, interaction between the band members, covers sung, different band members joining in singing the "I want you to know" part, sax solos, Billie's various antics, and throw in extra things like the strippers or a Benny Hill scene. It's distinctive so I guess that can make it seem repetitive but really I don't think there's a performance they vary more other than maybe Hitchin a Ride.

  12. I'm watching the Woodstock mud fight right now (you know, the one from 1994) and this kid ran on stage, hugged Billie, ran away, Billie ran after them, carried them back to the center of the stage, let them say something in the microphone and said as they ran away again "future idiot"... he might have been right, that kid could have become an "idiot" 10 years later he also sang "I don't wanna be a mud hippie... like youuuu..." oh the foreshadowing

  14. I love his old school Dookie/Insomniac era look. Those little dreads were awesome, as was the nose ring he used to rock. As a child his look was a big part of what drew me to them, and I was 6 but in 1994 you were hearing Dookie everywhere on TV and Radio so everybody had an opinion. Got the album as an Easter gift and remember looking at the pictures being like, wow, these are badass dudes and to a 6 year old kid the heaviness was almost scary, and undeniably wicked! Been forever religiously hooked to the band since and that album was responsible for turning me on to heavy music for the rest of my life. Anyways, there's always a weird feeling I get when I see a Dookie era photo of Billie with the nose ring and always bring me back to that time. Definitely one of the most undeniably cool dudes on the planet!

  16. I still can't get over this song, definitely in my top 3 songs on this album for sure. The moment after I first heard it when it released on the raidio I knew it was going to be really special. Glad to see this is one of their go to songs for live performances on tv. Epic.
