  1. New picture of Billie in this week's Kerrang (sorry it's not better quality but I don't have a scanner):

  2. I agree with both people you quoted, does that mean I'm a cunt too? I really wish they'd stop playing so many of the same songs on multiple tours. Dookie is great and American Idiot will always be one of my favorite albums, but I can look up one of the 1000+ live videos on youtube if I want to hear them live. Play the new shit that you haven't played yet and the old shit that you haven't played in years.

  3. I swear I could listen to the bass of When I Come Around for hours I've never paid as much attention to it as I am on my headphones right now and I'm swooning so much. Mike Dirnt appreciation post.

  6. I keep hoping something gets added for Cleveland next spring when there is an open date between Detroit and Pittsburgh. Our date on the Triolgy tour was cancelled and never rescheduled (for obvious reasons), which means aside from the "secret" last minute Rock Hall show that was pretty exclusive, it's been ages since Cleveland got a show. I looked and our only large arena in town is already booked. It would be amazing if they did something else though, an event at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or an instore or something...it's nice to dream

  7. I would easily take 1000 Hours over When It's Time, the latter's lyrically just so simplistic and uninteresting.

  8. Hmm not for me. For me their super sappy love songs are a special case, I like them because it's cute to hear Billie's sappy teenage thoughts on love and it's impressive that he's willing to show them so openly, so it's kind of a nostalgia thing with the old love songs and when he harks back to them on sappier new songs. I don't really associate them with their most top 40 friendly songs (they still show emotions but don't tend to be quite so sappy), which I usually like but not especially. But in both cases it's more the baring of emotions that's impressive than the pop sound. Plus I don't think it's necessarily about really liking a punk sound or a pop sound. Ever since they started they blended pop with punk and for me it's both elements together that give them their appeal, the punk sound and attitude is cool but the pop elements that they weren't afraid to add to it make them a much more interesting band. And likewise if they'd gone for only pop they wouldn't be nearly as interesting either. Both elements are important.

  9. I think it's difficult to make sweeping statements like that though Sure, some people who like those songs are probably frequent Top 40 radio listeners and enjoy that music, but I don't really think music is consumed that way anymore. It's becoming less and less common to find young people drawing lines in the sand and sticking by their guns as only pop or rock or metal fans. I can enjoy a Taylor Swift album just as much as a Marilyn Manson album

  10. Such eloquence. FYI calling people names for disagreeing about a song is frowned upon here, if you throw a personal insult at someone like that again you'll be suspended.

  11. disagree. i like both of those songs, but i don't really like or listen to pop/top 40 music and "also happen" to like green day. i sort of consider green day to be pop punk, not pop or true punk - and that's okay. they could fall under whatever genre there is, and i'd still like all of their music. not just their "top-40-sounding-music-hits".

  12. I mean Top 40 in regards to their sound, not their popularity.

  13. Idk, can't speak for anyone else but I'd be happy if they were an unknown band - they would play intimate shows and I'd spare the hassle buying tickets. Besides it would be way cooler to be a fan of a great unknown band than of a top 40 artist. I wish them nothing but success, however, I would be happy if they were out of the public eye - which they pretty much are in my social group anyway. None of my friends know about revrad. oww

  14. First time I heard When It's Time was when I saw them do it live at the LCCC in 2010. Totally killed my buzz, it's so boring.

  16. I prefer When It's Time to Last Night On Earth by quite a bit.

  17. Yeah, I would excuse a bad song if he played it in front of me but I don't think I'll ever voluntarily listen to a recording of WIT. Most of their songs are better live imo.

  18. So where would you place X Kid on Rev Rad? I'd place it in between Say Goodbye and Outlaws.

  19. That motherfucker has a way of doing that tbh he could probably sing Ass and Titties and make me swoon.

  20. Yeah it's sappy, but it still made me melt when I heard him sing it live

  21. Seriously. They have a new album to promote and a new single, yet they keep filtering questions about that cheeto faced douche. It's kind of annoying. I get they're vocal, but how many times do they have to say they don't approve of Trump?

  22. So random, but I was listening to "X Kid", my favorite from the Trilogy and thought how perfect that song would have been on Revolution Radio, with that mixing, engineering, and in the thematic context of Revolution. It's just a great song and it got lost in the incoherent, underproduced jumble of the Trilogy. It would have fit perfectly on Revolution Radio. Just my opinion.
