  3. 'Bridgette Quinn's 22 Minutes' with Billie Joe Armstrong video: http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/10/12/22-minutes-billie-joe-armstrong/ Another great interview with Billie about Ordinary World and RevRad. Not much new to learn, but I did enjoy the part where Billie reflects on performing with Paul and Ringo at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. Also, I continue to wonder if these journalists sitting across from him think, "Geez, this guy is kind of adorable."

  5. I think it's more that opinions of the trilogy changed after the rehab mess and a hate bandwagon started, rather than that opinions changed naturally with time. I agree with what Tre said in one of the recent interviews - that time will likely be kind to the trilogy. Maybe in 10 years people won't see it so negatively. Then again, a similar thing did happen with 21CB. I'm always surprised to see a lot of people saying it's a masterpiece because it was not cool to like it at the time. Even though Billie had declared it the best thing they'd ever done, people were still insisting the band hated it. So I don't know, maybe it could happen with RevRad, but I hope not.

  8. After listening to the live version of Somewhere Now, I think they should really just the play the album front to be back. It's ten times more powerful when performed live.

  10. I agree with Tre that time will likely be kind to the trilogy and that maybe in 10 years people won't see it so negatively. I personally love all but maybe one or two tracks that I'm not so keen on.

  11. It would explain a lot, because there are some more mistakes in the booklet! Also in Bouncing off the Wall(s), the booklet says "Concrete dream, I wanna hear you scream", but he definitely sings something else, I understand "I wanna make a scene" - don't know if that's right though. And in Youngblood, the booklet says "We'll shoot the moon into the sun, Daylight, Alright, Alright" - no way he's singing "daylight", it simply doesn't exist. Maybe we have to find the mistakes and put them together and this will be the secret bonus track

  13. To be honest, she needed to do more research about him, well I think but yeah, I love how excited he looked when he talked about Ringo and Paul, and about the AI movie and St. Jimmy, "Better hurry up, I'm not getting any younger" haha, and yes, so adorable

  14. The trilogy is massively underrated and seems to be very misunderstood. The three records were like one great record with all the cool b-sides included. Why in the eff wouldn't a Green Day fan be over the moon for these records is beyond me. I love the fun Green Day / Foxboro Hot Tubs kind of songs that were very present on Dos especially but really all throughout the records. I like the honestly of the lyrics and showcasing ideas of fun & love. Not everything has to be a massive political statement. A lot of us are miserable in our day to day lives. Fun is a good thing for us. The songs are fun & different enough to be exciting & the lyrics seem honest & real in so many of the songs. The same people complaining about the cartoony caricature writing of American Idiot & 21CB also seem to be dumping on the trilogy. The trilogy has some of the most honest & raw writing I've seen in years of Green Day records. Sometimes a grown man has a hangover or a crush or a thought about a missing friend or all kinds of crazy stuff! I'm so happy Billie Joe wrote honestly as the character of himself & how he might feel lazy or nostalgic or what-have-you. It happens. And sometimes an artist will write something funny, lazy, epic, spontaneous & strange. I like how the trilogy gives a fan the best of what makes Green Day Green Day plus a whole lot more. Growing up with Green Day has been a blast and the trilogy was a great gift for me. Uno, Dos, Tre was a very ambitious project & am super grateful they did it. I hope they'll play a lot more songs from those albums live. Seems to be missing from the current set lists. Please for the love of all that is good bring back some trilogy songs to the set lists and realize these songs are appreciated & fans would love to hear them again!

  15. The Clash got close with Sandinista, but even 28 songs are overkill. 12 to 14 songs remains the sweet spot.

  16. Totally agree. I think RevRad is a fine album, it has some good songs, but the trilogy is way better, for me. The trilogy has so many great songs, and feels so honest. I also like all the risks and experimentations Green Day took on those albuns. Thank you for resuming what I think about the trilogy, great post.

  17. Yeah Uno is cool definitely. I remember when Kill The Dj came out before the album dropped and I was jamming the fuck out to it! It was shockingly different but grooved like crazy.

  21. It's gonna be a great live act, particualrly when paired with Forever Now. I only now discovered a live album titled Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking in 1996. It's bloody good.

  22. I'm probably in the minority here, but i think the trilogy is better than RevRad. I like RevRad, but honestly it is probably their weakest album to date.

  23. I wouldn't mind (actually I'd probably go crazy ) if they did that at the show I'm going to, I've been lucky to see some of their classics a few times now and hearing RevRad front to back would just be killer. Major girlfriend points there!

  26. I don't watch the show normally, but New Girl had a crossover episode with Brooklyn Nine-Nine so I had to watch it, too, and in the New Girl ep (6x04, Homecoming), Schmidt has a breakdown upon thinking about going back to his old high school and facing some of his bullies, and since he's staying at his mom's house while visiting, he yells "I'm going to go listen to Dookie on cassette!" and in the next scene, he's doing just that, with Jess, Cece and his mom trying to get him out of his room while Basket Case is playing.

  28. Yes, you can make a thread for anything you think is worth having its own thread/that you think would get more discussion than just a couple of replies or likes. Obviously it isn't always easy to decide whether something would fit better here or in its own thread, and you don't need to worry about it too much because a mod or another member can always make a thread for something posted in here if they think it deserves it. But as long as it fits that description for you always feel free to go ahead and give it its own thread if you want, we prefer that to having everything crammed in here.

  29. Please discuss the 22 minutes interview in this thread: Also a reminder that if there's a brand new Green Day interview feel free to make a thread for it! This thread is just for random/small things.

  30. Yeah I'm not believing that. Maybe the lyric booklet was written before the final versions of all the songs were done? That would explain "everybody's bouncing off the wall" (no s) too.

  36. I thought the chorus of RevRad was "Give me cherry bombs and gasoline, debutantes and Sertraline." Unfortunately, I prefer that to the real thing

  37. Time and reflection definitely changes peoples' opinions, but I don't think RevRad will suffer the same fate as the trilogy. I personally associate the trilogy with a really difficult time, both personally and for the band (which only made my personal difficulties feel even worse, because my usual source of happiness turned into another source of stress). RevRad has better morale all around, and that will show even in a few years time. This has been a REALLY great time to be a Green Day fan.

  39. I would never consider 'too open' a negative in music? Everyone is different of course but no such thing as too open in music for me! I also want to hear Kill The DJ live. I find that song to actually be quite personal under surface level because I've always listened to it with the viewpoint that the DJ is the voice of addiction/mental illness spinning bullshit in your brain and you trying to hold it underwear till that mother fucker drowns... just my take.

  43. Maybe you're used to shitty audio if you actually believe the mastering on RevRad is good. Production has nothing to do with it. They self produced Warning and that one sounds amazing. Trilogy had the best sound since Warning.

  44. I love the mastering a hundred times better than trilogy and the effect is great they self-produced revrad. That's my opinion
