  1. The trilogy is massively underrated and seems to be very misunderstood. The three records were like one great record with all the cool b-sides included. Why in the eff wouldn't a Green Day fan be over the moon for these records is beyond me. I love the fun Green Day / Foxboro Hot Tubs kind of songs that were very present on Dos especially but really all throughout the records. I like the honestly of the lyrics and showcasing ideas of fun & love. Not everything has to be a massive political statement. A lot of us are miserable in our day to day lives. Fun is a good thing for us. The songs are fun & different enough to be exciting & the lyrics seem honest & real in so many of the songs. The same people complaining about the cartoony caricature writing of American Idiot & 21CB also seem to be dumping on the trilogy. The trilogy has some of the most honest & raw writing I've seen in years of Green Day records. Sometimes a grown man has a hangover or a crush or a thought about a missing friend or all kinds of crazy stuff! I'm so happy Billie Joe wrote honestly as the character of himself & how he might feel lazy or nostalgic or what-have-you. It happens. And sometimes an artist will write something funny, lazy, epic, spontaneous & strange. I like how the trilogy gives a fan the best of what makes Green Day Green Day plus a whole lot more. Growing up with Green Day has been a blast and the trilogy was a great gift for me. Uno, Dos, Tre was a very ambitious project & am super grateful they did it. I hope they'll play a lot more songs from those albums live. Seems to be missing from the current set lists. Please for the love of all that is good bring back some trilogy songs to the set lists and realize these songs are appreciated & fans would love to hear them again!

  2. So I re-bought this magazine: There's a bit of a dorky story to this. This magazine came out around the time I just got into Green Day. I walked into a store after school and went to look at magazines. I saw this one and I picked up it, mainly because they looked so good on the cover. But I read the article and it was the start of my love for GD. I re-bought the magazine because I cut out the photos from my original issues. I recently decided I wanted a complete issue because it kind of has a special place in my heart.

  3. Fred Armisen talks about working with Billie Joe, and it's ridiculously sweet: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/rolling-stone-music-now-podcast-fred-armisen-on-prince-w443245 Around the 21:00 mark: "He is the most positive person, which you don't see a whole lot. But he really is an optimist and he doesn't have any chip on his shoulder about anything. He's psyched to play music, loves punk, loves his family. And approaches doing a movie in a way that's like, 'I don't know, let's try it!'"

  5. Looks like a Hyde Park date in London next Summer. Presume that means more stuff around then too - likely festivals? Maybe a Summer stadium tour?

  6. Seriously feel like I need to invest in a new Green Day shirt. Y'know, gotta be spiffy when the album is out and about. I don't think I ever shared this story, and I thought of it again today because my brother was wearing it. Two Christmases ago, my brother got a beanie hat, but it was straight up shit brown. I told him he should sew a patch of the Dookie logo to the front and omg you wouldn't believe how pissed he got over that. So now every time he's wearing it, all you have to do is whisper Dookie hat. And he'll get all steamed up. While funny and all, it'd actually be a hilarious marketing thing for Green Day to make dookie beanies, shaped like... Oh, you know.

  9. I'm so excited for Friday I'm happy that I resisted the temptation of listening to the leak, so I will have my own private first-listen-experience that I prepare very well. It'll be all new and shiny and exciting (except for the three songs we already got, but they will be different and new, too in the context of the whole album). Nothing compares to listening to a GD album for the first time and I know it will pump me up with energy for weeks/months to come. And January isn't too far away, too.

  10. Apart from the font, it would have been an amazing album cover. Kinda bummed they didn't go with that but I guess people would have expected a more hardcore album than it was it did fit the album theme in the end

  12. Saying this here so I'm not going off topic elsewhere, I keep seeing people saying the 99 Revs tour was bad but I honestly don't think there was anything wrong with the majority of shows I went to. Yeah, looking back the pre-rehab stuff was off and they were definitely nervous in Chicago because it was the first arena show, but at all the others I went to I thought they were at their best. Two of the best GD shows I've ever seen (Pittsburgh and Emirates) were on that tour. I got accused of blindly loving everything they do last time I said this but that is definitely not the case When you've been travelling and lining up for a lot of shows it's easy to get ratty and critical but I really didn't.

  16. Green Day will be taking over the KROQ airwaves this Friday (October 7) from 5-6pm, coinciding with the release of their 12th studio album, Revolution Radio. Forget our usual playlist – we told the guys to play whatever they want, so expect a bunch of old school punk rock and and some newer stuff that’s on their radar. They’ll also be giving away tickets to see them at their sold out Palladium show October 17th! Related: KROQ Presents Green Day at the Hollywood Palladium October 17 Set your alarms. Revolution Radio takes over KROQ Friday at 5pm! Did we mention it’s commercial-free? If you’re not by a radio, stream us here or download the Radio.com app on your smartphone! http://kroq.cbslocal.com/…/green-day-to-host-revolution-ra…/ Via GDLoT

  18. I think the trilogy will always have a special place to be honest. To me it doesn't stand up to most of the rest of their work, but it was such a brilliant time to be a fan. They gave us a treat right up until Iheart. And there is definitely a solid album buried in their. Maybe two. The guitar tone killed it for me, it only suited a handful of the songs.

  19. Thank God at least someone is coming round. It's such a cool song musically. I've always considered one of the most energetic trilogy songs. Now go listen to Lady Cobra

  20. Can't believe it's taken me so long to properly appreciate Makeout Party. It has the most wonderful bass and guitar solos that I've heard a hundred times but never really properly listened to, it seems. It's just skyrocketed from my bottom 5 trilogy songs to my top 10.

  22. Nicely stated my friend. You have hit on exactly what bothers me. I don't care what anyone else likes, I like what I like and everyone else is entitled to like what they like. I don't have a problem discussing differences of opinion, but when someone just blatantly posts "the trilogy sucks", it gets a bit on the annoying side. Tell me why you don't like it and we can talk about it. I actually think all the "trilogy sucks" talk has made me like it more

  25. Only having 15-18 songs instead of the 37 would not make it better. If you read "In Defense of the Trilogy" discussion, that explains why perfectly. People have different opinions on which songs are better than others. Nobody can agree on the top 15 songs of the trilogy. Because people have differing opinions. If you don't like a lot of the songs from the trilogy, you can just make a playlist of all your favourite songs. If GD only made 15 songs there's a good chance that many of the songs that you like wouldn't have been released. With the trilogy, some songs appeal to different fans e.g some songs are more like the classic Green Day, some are like Foxboro Hot Tubs, some are like AI/21CB. With 37 songs there's almost guaranteed that there will at least be something that everyone will like. I'm actually glad they made it a trilogy.

  26. All I know is the Trilogy came out 4 years ago, and I still listen to it all the time. Not every day, but at least a couple times a week. I don't remember having that much love for any other Green Day album/era. I think it's just the headspace that Billie was in at the time is SO apparent in the music, and it's just really refreshing and honest. I guess all of that, combined with the fact they already had so much much success prior to the trilogy, and with the musical, made me just love it! They could have easily started to unwind and enjoy the fruits of their labor, but instead, not only decided to keep going strong, but 3 fold! I really don't think it's possible that Green Day could have pulled this off without Billie going mad, which he did.. And I'm really excited to see what the new albums will sound like going forward. I know as individual albums, none of them are my favorites, but looking at all 3 together, and the idea, this might be my favourite project/era for sure. I just can't see how it can be topped, especially for a hardcore Green Day fan.

  27. I fucking love the trilogy. I think it's got some of Green Day's best songs, full stop. I'm also very scared we won't hear many (or any) trilogy songs live again due to its poor reception.

  28. so here's my deal... I got into green day back in 96. I loved all their early stuff and i followed the band super close after nimrod came out. I liked warning when it came out. when american idiot came out, i wasn't into it, i kinda hated it. I've grown to like it though. I liked 21st century breakdown when it came out, but now i've grown to think it's mediocre. I was pretty excited when the trilogy came out, especially when i heard songs like stay the night, let yourself go, and nuclear family, which were reminiscent of classic Green Day. yes, the production sucks, and 75% of the songs have mediocre to awful lyrics, but I find that I listen to Uno and Dos more than AI and 21st. Insomniac, nimrod, and Kerplunk will always be my favorites, but even though the trilogy was hit or miss, it's what got me following green day closely again.

  29. I like the Trilogy. I wouldn't say it's one of their best records but there are some really cool songs on Uno, Dos and Tre. I don't understand why many people hate it. Yeah, one can disagree and dislike it, but HATE is too much.

  30. It is a fairly short song and catchy. I was just throwing out possibilities anyway. For all I know, they could play Makeout Party, Little Boy Named Train, and Sweet 16

  31. Along with the other replies, I think that DRB may be tried out as a song on the next tour, along with other trilogy songs. I only say this because along with the typical hits and songs from the new albums, they always seem to sprinkle in a few older or lesser known songs. I think it is possible that songs like DRB and Troublemaker and Missing You could definitely be played more. (I know Missing You was performed quite a few times but that didn't happen until halfway into the tour)

  32. More people would know DRB than half of ¡Dos!, so I don't see why they didn't give it a shot. Plus, this is probably an unpopular opinion but I actually thought DRB was one of the best written songs on the Trilogy, even if it goes against the flow of the rest of the album of the 3 which I came from.

  33. I've been wondering why they never played Dirty Rotten Bastards live since Billie Joe himself said that it was written as an arena sing along type song
