Sometimes I get really sad when I think of how much the trilogy's sparse good songs got fucked by their weird production. Like, I would love to hear songs like Stay the Night and Rusty James recorded like Revolution Radio. They're really not bad lyrics-wise, they just (in my opinion) don't sound good, or like songs I want to listen to on repeat. There's potential in a lot of songs that have good parts that will never be realized, because they were released sounding almost rushed and unfinished. Not trying to upset the trilogy fanboys and fangirls, it's just something I've been thinking about since the new album leaked. Some of its songs are very fun-sounding and it's rather diverse and experimental at times. Much of it seems to achieve what the trilogy wanted, but in a tighter package with less fanfare about its "spontaneity" ahead of time. Kind of ironic.6 points

In a not-so-different world, Warning could have been an absolutely massive album.4 points

Indeed. I get it, but I'd still like to hear some bonus tracks which didn't make the cut (even if they're in the vein of Youngblood). Know Your Enemy had Lights Out and Hearts Collide (two very underrated songs, particularly the former).3 points

That's from the same 2010 California show which also features on deluxe versions of Awesome as Fuck3 points

I love it! It's so mellow. I listened to it driving into work last Fri. and was daydreaming about being in Mexico, on a beach, drinking margaritas . LOL It's an underrated song and so different. In the past I hated on Macys Day Parade but I listened to it several times today and I really like it now. The lyrics really hit me hard for some reason.3 points

Yeah, I get that people don't often buy physical singles these days so B-sides mean less but it'd be nice to have something that good.2 points

Even now I find it amazing how cohesive Nimrod is given its diversity. It's a testament to the work that must have gone into the running order to make it work in that it really does sound like an album rather than a collection of songs.2 points

You Lied and Suffocate too were supposed to be on Nimrod and apparently were included on Australian versions.1 point

I love the mastering a hundred times better than trilogy and the effect is great they self-produced revrad. That's my opinion1 point
-
Absolutely, in fact if I recall correectly Desensitised was intended to be on Nimrod but was taken off at the last minute.1 point

Do Da Da, Desentized, Espionage, Suffocate and Ha Ha You're Dead are all great songs. Each of those could have been on Nimrod, Desentized in particular.1 point

Shenanigans is one of my favourite albums of theirs, it's perfectly capable of standing up on its own I think.1 point
-
Certainly. More than a couple of the earlier ones ended up on Shenanigans. I'd be surprised if at least Japan does not get a bonus track on their CD version.1 point

Jup. B-sided aren't what they used to be (see American Idiot with Too Much Too Soon).1 point

Yeah, I've never thought of Nimrod as this showcase of diversity because it all works so well together you don't notice until you think of individual tracks.1 point

I agree. In some ways I think this new GD album is eh, kind of like that. But I will be picking up the NOFX album on the 7th as well. Haushinka!, if you were a booger, I'd pick you first to be on my team any day because of your comments. NWO1 point

Also... Take Back is awesome because it reminds you that bands are never restrained to one genre.1 point

I found out recently that thinking that Last Ride In is a boring/bad song is a common opinion among fans.... What.1 point
-
For me it's the new album and just the feeling I have about it. They beat my expectations and produced something which stands out both in their discography and amongst other alt rock records. That's no small feat for a band that was considered a legacy act to mainstream public not even two years ago.1 point
-
That's how I feel right now. I've always been a big fan, but I think it's the pride right now that they're back and amazing as hell that's makes you feel like "fuck yeah, I'm a Green Day fan." And for some reason it just feels more amazing than ever.1 point

Having Mike Dirnt or Tre Cool do either of these.... Sing a major part in a song or write a song. Dunno if this is their own wishes or just something else. American Eulogy and Homecoming.... A+1 point

Sure did - but this is what I shouted: Smell your technicolour in your eyes Makes me sick with pleasure in my mind Shake it like it's so enlightening, staring at the sun that's blinding Like a bottle rocket in the sky1 point

I don't think it's an actual expression or phrase (unless I've just not heard it), but it's pretty much a metaphor for "I could be in the grave but I'm not". Like, rain falling on the flowers laid on the grave and his head's above it because he's not there.1 point
