You are making sense, but I don't think it's hugely respectful or appropriate to speculate about a recovering alcoholic/addict relapsing.3 points

He's already done one Foxboro show sober, so it's definitely a possibility!3 points

Yeah I love Sweet 16! Very sweet love song to Adrienne, another one of those romantic but realistic ones he writes so well. I like to wait until I have a couple of hours worth of housework to do and go for the full Uno Dos Tre listen, always enjoyable3 points

Ehm.. so? It doesn't fit the garage rock, Foxboro Hot Tubs-ish style of the album...2 points

The masks are gone from the store and I sincerely hope it's because they realised that the price (and the idea that anyone wants to walk around with their "faces" on) was ridiculous not because ridiculous people already bought them all2 points

I am! And if they keep Know Your Enemy on their setlist that's what I'll be proudly singing when I see them in February2 points

yes, but he's already played two fbht shows sober and they were fine by all accounts. Shouldn't be an issue as far as we can guess.1 point

Weren't FBHT shows a bit more drunk and crazy than regular GD shows? If so, I'm not sure it would work so well now Billie is sober.1 point

RevRad isn't "tubish". Imo it might me on Tre, yet Tre is perfect even without RevRad1 point

Fair point. However, they played a number of shows some time after 21CB tour ended or during that era and that album was serious as well so idk, wouldn't say it's hopeless. This makes me think I really do wish they wouldn't put on a super serious image, I liked the lighter mood of the trilogy. Neither seems to be what they are going for this time, though.1 point
-
Much as I'd fucking love to see them I don't think they'll play, RevRad is darker and more serious and it wouldn't really go with the mood. That's assuming the tour will follow the mood, which isn't definite.1 point

Sorry to double post, I just had a totally random idea: it's the time for another FBHT show. I do hope the foxies will make a cameo sometime during the revrad tour.1 point

So far I'm thinking it won't be that different from it . I mean obviously it's different subject matter and different production, but musically I think it sounds pretty similar (quite simple and with a bit of a rock and roll sound) and even the lyrics have that snappy one liner thing going on, sounds like a continuation along the same line rather than a tangent from it (as if they've taken their cue from songs like 99 Revolutions and are going further and harder with it). An album with a sound not too far from the trilogy's only with harder production and political/social commentary lyrics sounds promising to me.1 point

I also love the trilogy but Sweet 16 is one of the only Green Day songs I'm really not into. It sounded great live on the one crappy recording there is, but on the record it's just dull.1 point

Staying ignorant at inappropriate references is definitely something I'm capable of1 point

Yeah, I also thought of Words I Might Have Ate, but still that's only 2 songs that I can think of and it's mainly in their really early material. I'm pretty sure the Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi official single is fade out but they just kind of made an ending when they played it live, which is all well and good but it does nothing for me when it comes to listening to albums in general and setting up the next song. Green Day have always been amazing at that in my opinion, but I guess that's because unlike most bands, Green Day usually fully fill their albums with hard work and quality.1 point

Longview fades out but it has an ending when they play it live. I've never really heard a 'fade out' song by another artist being played live. Do they have to make up an ending? Do they walk away from the mic as they're singing and gradually turn the amps down? I've always wondered about that kinda thing1 point

Sometimes i wonder if billie's personality rubbed off on me, or if i became so in love with green day because we have similar personalities.1 point

No way - they are freaky but I'm sure someone in the fangirl thread could make an inappropriate referenceš1 point

It would be a little too creepy for a show for my taste but perfect for Halloween.1 point

Whoever comes with it to a show is getting sued by me. The thing looks scary! It would make a cool Halloween costume. Zombie Joe or something.1 point

This might have been posted already, but the masks from the Bang Bang video are for sale in the store: http://store.greenday.com/billie-joe-mask.html1 point

Wow @Dakke, that hit me hard. Good analysis of how everything slowly but surely spun out of control. I wish such dark times were avoided, but in a way it feels like it all needed to happen this way. They couldn't sustain themselves the way they were headed. Trying to constantly out-do themselves, working hard constantly as to not dry upāI mean, that's admirable work ethic and I love how dedicated they are, but it gets to a point where it's obsessive instead of mere hard work. I'm so happy that they're able to look at everything that went down now that they're on the other side of it and have such a healthy perspective. I love how much they love what they do, and how hard they try to put the best of themselves out there all the time. But not at their personal expense. They're more important. I get the impression that after going through this, they understand that THEY mean more to their fans than a timetable of when they should put out a new record, or if their next record will top the one that came before. We're here because we love their music, but we need them to stick around for a long, long time in order to provide that music. They're not going to lose us when they need time for themselves.1 point

I got them! It's difficult to express these feelings but I don't think it has fully dawned on me yet. I've been a fan for almost 7 years and over that time, "seeing Green Day" has become something that "surely would happen sometime" but it has always been such an abstract wish - like when people say they'll make a trip to somewhere really fancy or buy an expensive car but never really act on it. It's really awesome I'm finally past this stage. When I pick up the tickets I'll have to display them somewhere so I can stare at them all the time to remind myself I'm not dreaming!1 point

When I'd only read up to here I thought he was just adding that playfully as a joke: āSo the press tried to pin us against each other. You couldnāt like one and the other, you had to pick one.ā āI donāt think thereās any bad blood. Iāve done some things with Billy Joeā he continues. āThereās certainly a lot more in common than there is keeping us apart. Thereās a lot more mutual respect than any kind of ā weāve got no problem with those guys.ā āHaving said that, we are a much better band. I should make that clear right?ā laughs Noodles... But then: ...āAll around Iād say. Just in general. Weāre a much better band.ā Oh he was serious1 point

I know that obviously but the flow of the two singles fit well together. You can have songs that don't lead into each other directly but still have a good flow to an album ...1 point

The song was just on the radio & the announcer said this song is like red bull for your ears - he's got that right. Love this song so so much.1 point

As I've mentioned, a while ago my mum misheard "Ashley" as "actually". Well today she heard it playing again from the next room and said, "Why does he keep singing 'ashtray'?"1 point

I agree, and it is relative. Green Day has the potential to obtain critical acclaim for their music, and didn't reach those heights with the Trilogy. The sales were nothing to write home about either compared to previous albums. I guess my perspective is assessing the success of the Trilogy with all things considered, rather than just their past. Im really looking forward to seeing how Revolution radio does critically and commercially š1 point

I know people like to shit on Nightlife but there are still a lot of people who like Nightlife, and a lot of people like the rest of those songs you've named too Uno Dos TrƩ was made as a gift for the fans. It wasn't intended as an album like Dookie or AI to be universally praised. I'm sure if they wanted that, they could've just made it into a short album. They have loads of different types of fans, fans of Dookie/Insomniac, AI/21CB, Nimrod/Warning etc. and with the trilogy they tried to give something to each type of fan. I'm sure with this next release, they will make more effort to put more meaningful lyrics and a more epic sound into their songs There are loads of people who hate American Idiot. Not justr Seagull. Many people prefer the older GD albums or even the newer GD albums1 point
