  1. I got them! It's difficult to express these feelings but I don't think it has fully dawned on me yet. I've been a fan for almost 7 years and over that time, "seeing Green Day" has become something that "surely would happen sometime" but it has always been such an abstract wish - like when people say they'll make a trip to somewhere really fancy or buy an expensive car but never really act on it. It's really awesome I'm finally past this stage. When I pick up the tickets I'll have to display them somewhere so I can stare at them all the time to remind myself I'm not dreaming!

  2. Whenever I feel confused or upset about something, I always write it out to get my thoughts straight. I just came across a file on my computer that I wrote right after "Oh Love" was released, and I totally forgot I wrote it but it's alarmingly accurate for everything that would come after. It just talks about how the band felt kind of distant to me, how Billie wasn't acting like himself, and something felt broken and different, but I couldn't figure out what it was and it frustrated me. The whole trilogy of albums idea didn't really ring true to me, and I just wasn't connecting at all with what they were saying and doing. I blamed it on myself at the time—I figured after several years of them being away, maybe I was just taking extra time getting used to them being around again. I was trying to convince myself that I love this band and that three albums was an awesome thing, but I couldn't get excited, and I didn't know why. I'm not trying to brag about having psychic abilities (), I was just really taken aback reading it. What struck me the most, though, was that I was terrified I'd never feel the same about them again. I wish I could go back and tell myself it'll get worse before it'll get better, but when it gets better it will be the best.

  3. When I'd only read up to here I thought he was just adding that playfully as a joke: “So the press tried to pin us against each other. You couldn’t like one and the other, you had to pick one.” “I don’t think there’s any bad blood. I’ve done some things with Billy Joe” he continues. “There’s certainly a lot more in common than there is keeping us apart. There’s a lot more mutual respect than any kind of – we’ve got no problem with those guys.” “Having said that, we are a much better band. I should make that clear right?” laughs Noodles... But then: ...“All around I’d say. Just in general. We’re a much better band.” Oh he was serious

  5. Oh yeah, this. I want to annoy my future husband with babbling about how good Billie looks in his 70s.

  6. You have expressed my very thoughts with the right words. It's great to see that they can put the whole era in perspective. Only due to those recent interviews I realized how bad things were going post 21 CB and how Billie was basically pushing himself to the brink of collapse.

  7. Wow @Dakke, that hit me hard. Good analysis of how everything slowly but surely spun out of control. I wish such dark times were avoided, but in a way it feels like it all needed to happen this way. They couldn't sustain themselves the way they were headed. Trying to constantly out-do themselves, working hard constantly as to not dry up—I mean, that's admirable work ethic and I love how dedicated they are, but it gets to a point where it's obsessive instead of mere hard work. I'm so happy that they're able to look at everything that went down now that they're on the other side of it and have such a healthy perspective. I love how much they love what they do, and how hard they try to put the best of themselves out there all the time. But not at their personal expense. They're more important. I get the impression that after going through this, they understand that THEY mean more to their fans than a timetable of when they should put out a new record, or if their next record will top the one that came before. We're here because we love their music, but we need them to stick around for a long, long time in order to provide that music. They're not going to lose us when they need time for themselves.

  8. I know my freaking out is absolutely over the top but can't help it haha. I was almost delirious with anxiety at one point, then I played Misery on guitar for an hour straight.

  9. Whoever comes with it to a show is getting sued by me. The thing looks scary! It would make a cool Halloween costume. Zombie Joe or something.

  10. When I have children one day, I am fully intending on taking them to Green Day concerts and sharing my love of the band with them. So it's not up for discussion–the guys need to be around and healthy so I can show them off to my future kids. I'm not taking no for an answer.

  12. The demo versions and live performance of the Trilogy songs were far superior to the album versions. They overdid it with the vocal filters (which date back to AI, but were severely annoying on the Trilogy records) and generally the instruments simply sounded too clean. As for GD fucking it up, we all know how bad Billie's situation was at the time they recorded the whole thing and it's quite stunning they actually managed to record some good songs and do a pre-release tour before Billie crashed. He just wasn't himself and nobody really turned things around when things got out of hand, which Cavallo as producer should have done but neglected to. Their crew consisted largely of the same people (Chris Lord-Alge, who mixed all records post-Dookie, Cavallo, who produced all their Reprise albums but 21CB, Chris Dugan, their sound engineer etc) who simply followed BJ's direction and vision and we got the Trilogy, the result and victim of delusion, misguided choices and random lyrics and songs thrown together. Those were dark years, but thankfully it changed them for the better.

  14. Maybe you have a talent in predicting the future, I would try playing the lottery more often But you're absolutely right, somewhere in another thread I wrote something similar. I saw GD 2012 in Konstanz about 3 weeks before Uno was released and there was something very strange about that show. Something aggressive I hadn't known so far from my favourite band. The day after that show Billie got into hospital in Italy, and some weeks later iHeart happened... There was a strange vibe from the moment they announced the trilogy, I somehow felt it but only just realized it when iHeart happened. And although I really, really love many of the trilogy-songs, they will always leave a slightly bad taste in my mouth. But now everything's different. And we can be so, so proud of them

  17. I love Noodles and The Offspring, but I really can't agree with the title statement here at all. I understand why he would say that though, obviously. It reminds me of what a politer, somewhat classier version of Bruce Dickinson's rather childish attacks on Metallica a few years ago would have sounded like, honestly. I'm not a fan of musicians proclaiming how their band is "better" than another one, especially one that I also happen to love. 24. Sorry but I will forever bump this thread on page two. Raw Ham! I swear I will find and destroy you Liam if you do such a thing. Swear to god I read this thread when I'm feeling down. Too funny and if you delete "the posts" ever, let alone before my coffee table book, just erase it from your thoughts. I know you're kidding because you like living.

  25. Yeah, it's completely unnecessary and it happens to be one of the most washed-up methods how to create publicity when the band doesn't really have very much to say.

  34. I love that stuff! Deliberately doing something risque/embarrassing to challenge the audience and he gets to be funny and cheeky at the same time, fabulous . I hope he never stops. He's a little punk who thrives on poking fun at taboos and showing off, do you want him to be reserved and boring instead? He doesn't strip/moon so much now. But he'll usually think of something dirty to do, the latest thing I remember is him asking the crowd "do you wanna touch it?" lol. Just part of his style as a performer to do a bit of tongue in cheek teasing and shocking I think.
