  1. I like RevRad a lot, but seriously, so many of the lyrics are rehashes of lines from other songs.

  2. I've never waited for Green Day before, but I've waited for actors and other musicians at the stage door plenty of times. It's perfectly possible to see them, since they have to get into and out of the venue somehow. Unless they have a private coach/car area where they can go straight from the door to the vehicle with no public access. I don't know the specific venue, but most aren't like that. There are 3 key things to remember: Be patient - bands like to take their time coming out at the end. They also like to arrive early. If you want to catch them, you're gonna have to wait for a while, be it before or after the show. Be respectful - whether it's Billie Joe or some random roadie, it's really important. This is their work day, and any time you're there will be a busy time. They're much more likely to take some time out and engage with you if you treat them respectfully as humans rather than yell at them. That random crew member might just be the guy who tells the band that there's a really nice fan waiting outside to speak to them. If the band are tired and on their way home, they're much more likely to stop and engage with you if they can see that a conversation will be easy. Don't get in the way - often venues only have one main stage door, and there'll be gear and not-the-band people rushing around. Getting in people's way will piss them off and is a surefire way to get thrown out before you have a chance to meet the band. There seem to be plenty of people on here who've met the band and can probably offer far more specific and useful advice, so I'm sure, if you do go, that you'll be going prepared!

  3. I guess it's kinda normal. I personally had set rather low expectations for myself after the Trilogy disappointment and up until now, I think they've certainly improved. RR and BB are not 21CB or AI-quality songs, but they are a step in the right direction in my opinion. I'm placing bets on Troubled Times and Somewhere Now.

  4. I'm the exact opposite, I find it so much easier to like Green Day music than with other bands. I feel like I'll always like Green Day's new material, even if there are periods where I don't listen to them that much. A new Green Day song is still excites me even if it's not perfect, and that's probably partly to do with the nostalgia, as well as the really deep meaning this band has for me. Don't get me wrong, if they release an awful song I'm not blind to it. I just still enjoy listening, although not as much as if they released an awesome one of course

  5. I'm still not sure how I like the new songs...it's definitely better than the trilogy but something is still missing. Maybe it's the mixing - it sounds a bit too polished, especially the vocals and I'm not too impressed by the lyrics or maybe I'm just way too analytical when listening to those songs to enjoy them. Idk, maybe the time of me being a Green Day fan is somewhere in the past and I just can't be into their new music the same as I love their work until 21CB.

  6. Billie Joe should learn some new vocabulary. Tired of hearing the same words for the last 20 years.

  7. I want to punch whoever manages the GD site/store. Everything about it is atrocious. "I'm sweating bullets like a modern Romeo" is becoming one of my favorite Green Day lyrics ever

  9. Haven't seen anyone mentioning it but glad we're on the same wavelength! Was just listening to BB/RevRad back to back earlier and the idea came to me, just seems like it could be a trio of songs that fit really well together!

  10. I couldn't agree more. They made a solid step back on the right track.

  11. I'd switch with you if I could! With Green Day, I tend to think way too much. I listen and analyze different aspects of the song and I tend to evaluate everything. When I listen to other bands, I let the music do its magic. I'm like a crazy scientist vivisecting every note Green Day play. It might be taking away from my experience. I hope so.

  12. RevRad's lyrics aren't impressive, but I don't think we can judge the album by these two songs. I first need to hear Somewhere Now, Say Goodbye, Troubled Times, Still Breathing and Too Dumb To Die and all those other tracks.

  13. I feel you, but think of it like this: You have friends and family, sometimes you don't talk to them for a couple years, or you don't approve of every decision they make, but you still love them. You can't just say "well I used to love them but..." With Green Day its the same way, for me at least. When the trilogy came out I wasn't even listening to them anymore but when someone asked me who my favorite band was, I'd say Green Day just like I always have. And now, I feel like I'm hyper critical of their music A) because i've learned to laugh at my own taste in music and B) because it's like being a parent that tells their kid that their drawing is awesome even if it isn't. Sometimes I find it hard to relate to any album in the same ways that I would 5 years ago, or 10 years ago. But then I see a picture of them and the nostalgia factor alone kickstarts the passion again.

  14. I should've known as soon as they announced that Andrew Scheps would mix it. It definitely undermines some of the power of the songs.

  17. I could be wrong but I think the first tattoo he got was the one he shows here at 1:27. I don't know when he got it, though.

  18. Listening to A Day To Remember's new album, then I put Bang Bang on. Wow that's a lot of compression. Can't believe it took me so long to notice quite how much there is, but the contrast just makes Bang Bang feel a bit meh. They just about got away with it, but it could've sounded much better with a little less, at least IMO.

  19. I haven't spoken about Green Day irl for years but now I can't shut up. It's gotta be hell parenting me right now. No shower is cold enough to calm me down.
