  2. When a band doesn't have VIP meet and greet for like hundreds of dollars to me it means that they see themselves as already having a relationship with their fans so much that they don't have to charge you so much to feel close to them if that makes sense? Also I've heard so many stories about them meeting lucky people after shows at the bus and all over the place and they never seem to mind. They don't view themselves on a pedestal. It's not fair to be like "only rich kids can meet us".

  6. My local morning news show called Green Day a 90's band and the really obnoxious traffic reporter who thinks she's just the funniest said that she thought their 2003 tour was a reunion tour. Will be changing channels

  7. Just saw the most recent post on GDA about Bang Bang still topping that billboard chart and another chart now too. I'm happy the song is doing so well. It'll get another boost when the official video is released. I hope we get a live version soon too, either on a late night chat show or a pro shot from one of their first concerts.

  8. 3 – Green Day So Green Day has been booked to open the World Cup of Hockey. As far as the NHL’s tendency to book bands that haven’t been relevant in a while, this one tracks pretty well. Green Day has a new record coming out this year, but really only released five things in the previous 12 years, only one of which anyone really cared about (American Idiot, from 2004, was very cared-about), and the less said about the triple-album release in 2012, the better. And while I’m not sure how a band that started in 1986 and has sold 75 million records can release anything 30 years later called “Revolution Radio,” I gotta say I can’t rip this band too hard. Yeah, we’re gonna have to sit through whatever boring single they’re promoting with the new record, but man, what if they also play “Welcome to Paradise” and “Brain Stew?” That would be cool to all the 30-whatever-year-olds in the crowd. Were it not for Dookie, many cool people would not be as cool as they are today, so trashing Green Day too hard should be strictly verboten. That album was a gateway drug in a way few albums of that era were. The same can be said for Metallica, who haven’t put out a good album since …And Justice For All (and that album will be 30 in less than two years!). Can’t dog on ’em. The early stuff is just too good. So shout out to the NHL, for booking a band I actually kinda like. And shout out to Green Day, for putting out an album that changed my life when I was 11 and Alex Galchenyuk was still a week and a half from being alive. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/p-k-subban-green-day-and-world-cup-of-hockey-puck-daddy-countdown-134248768.html

  9. I'm also interested in how it works - I'll try and figure it out in the next weeks. The early entry tickets were 11,50€ more expensive than the regular ones though.

  11. Yeah, it was one of the options in the presale at the same price as regular standing. So far it looks like it's only for the Italian shows, no one has mentioned it being a thing at any of the others. I'm just hoping to get an idea of how it'll work before the show in case it's not obvious on the day.

  12. i'm honestly really glad they don't do the VIP meet and greet shit cause i know i'd buy it despite the fact that it would definitely be way out of my price range i haven't really done the whole waiting by the buses thing since i was like, 13 and it seems kinda weird to me now but every time i see them i'm always hoping to just randomly run into them, ngl

  14. Mike did a meet and greet for free here in Rochester in 2013, then I waited outside by their busses for a few hours and they came out to talk to fans and take pictures with us and stuff. They were brief, but they made an effort to say hi to everyone. All of them except Billie, I think I was the only person he missed But I'd highly encourage everyone to wait by the busses after the show. It may be an hour or two wait (they usually have a table of food set up inside after the show!) but it's worth it!

  19. Having a Blast lyrics I'm taking all you down with me Explosives duct taped to my spine Nothing's gonna change my mind I won't listen to anyone's last words There's nothing left for you to say Soon you'll be dead anyway Well no one here is getting out alive This time I've really lost my mind and I don't care So close your eyes And kiss yourself goodbye And think about the times you spent and what they've meant To me it's nothing To me it's nothing To me it's nothing To me it's nothing I'm losing all my happiness The happiness you pinned on me Loneliness still comforts me My anger dwells inside of me I'm taking it all out on you And the shit you put me through Well no one here is getting out alive This time I've really lost my mind and I don't care So close your eyes And kiss yourself goodbye And think about the times you spent and what they've meant To me it's nothing To me it's nothing To me it's nothing To me it's nothing Do you ever think back to another time? Does it bring you so down that you thought you lost your mind? Do you ever want to lead a long trail of destruction And mow down any bullshit that confronts you? Do you ever build up all the small things in your head? To make one problem that adds up to nothing To me it's nothing To me it's nothing To me it's nothing The lyrics are disturbing and would probably be very controversial today with all the killing going on, but I definitely see a parallel to Bang Bang.

  20. I'm not sure where to put this and it's a random thought so I'm putting it here. So I was listening to "Having A Blast" in the car today and thinking or wondering if its theme is along the same lines as Bang Bang. It def. seems like it's a first person account of a terrorist or crazy person. Thoughts on this?

  23. Hm no, that's really not the same. When you go to GD shows, it's not only about seeing them like seeing them on TV. It's about being there, feeling them. Once you've experienced it, you're probably willing to pay almost anything (not that I'm hoping the tickets for the next world tour will cost 500 dollars!!!). 2013 I paid 165 euros (about 185 dollars) for Rock am Ring. I got a bad cold that weekend, so I didn't go camping and didn't watch any of the other bands. On Sunday, I drove 5 hours only to see the GD show (weather was very very cold and foggy) and 5 hours back right after the show. In the end, I had paid 165 euros just for GD (and a bad bronchitis for the next couple of weeks, btw), but it was still worth it 10.000 times
