  3. I purchased a German promo CD compilation via Discogs. It has all of the band's singles/radio edits up through the 21st Century Breakdown era. Completely unnecessary, but I'm a collector nerd sooo... Yeah.

  5. Bang Bang is such an angry and aggressive fucking song and I absolutely love it. Aggression is great and Green Day need more of it. I think that's what I missed most in the Trilogy. The songs were nice but where was all the anger? Horseshoes and Handgrenades was so aggressive and American Idiot was angry if not aggressive too. Less soft songs and more yelling please <3

  6. I don't think it's anything to do with terrorism, or even craziness. I think it's to do with boredom, disillusionment and restlessness that eventually leads to the narrator having some kind of 'fuck this shit' breakdown. For me, it's always come off as more metaphorical than Bang Bang. I have days when I 'want to lead a long trail of destruction, and mow down any bullshit that confronts' me, but that's a million miles away from the disturbing wish for fame for mass murder that's contained in Bang Bang.

  9. Looks like somebody finally got the fucking single order right. It's been a long, long time since we've seen the guys knock a home run like this. http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7494582/green-day-bang-bang-mainstream-rock-songs-no-1

  10. ------------------------------- So.. I've been re-listening the Trilogy lately and god damn I have some genuinely serious questions for you guys. 1. Why all the hate on Wild One? Even people that enjoy the trilogy claim Wild One is very boring and too long, and as a big fan on Green Day's love songs (AKA Last Night On Earth, 80, Redundant) I absolutely love Wild One, and I find that soothing feeling LNOE brings in Wild One. 2. Why does everyone keep on saying the line "She's old enough to bleed now" on Drama Queen is about the girl being on her period? For fuck's sake. I think is more than obvious that Billie's referring to the girl being all grown up now and once she left her innocence and naïveté behind, she's gonna be able to feel pain and be hurt. 3. Am I the only one bothered that Nuclear Family has absolutely no meaning? I enjoy the song and think it's a fantastic opener for the trilogy, but holy shit. I think I can't think of a single Green Day song that has absolutely no meaning other than Nuclear Family, I guess the song comes across as soulless without a meaning behind it. 4. Why are people so negative about songs like Makeout Party and Fuck Time and the general theme of sex around ¡DOS! ?, like I can totally see myself being on my 40s and still being able to talk about sex just like my current self, I think people are just weirded out and it's very stupid. (Btw, Makeout Party is a BANGER, I don't get why some people dislike it). 5. Since Bang Bang got released, most people have been saying that is 10 x better than Oh Love as a lead single (I agree), but thanks to this I think people are appreciating even less the good song Oh Love truly is. I'm sure that if it weren't for Billie Joe's meltdown and Rehab situation, the trilogy would've been successful and (I bet my bollocks that) Oh Love would have been a Green Day classic just like Know Your Enemy or Holiday. 6. And finally... The Forgotten. I have never been nuts for this song, but now that I have listening to it more times, it really has growned on me. I believe it's a beautiful song and I think I know why most people (including me) dislike it or just didn't payed more attention to it..... Twilight.

  11. I have NEVER so strongly agreed and disagreed with multiple things. Great post though. I don't really like ranking their albums because it has changed at different times of my life but I will say that as I got older, I started to enjoy their more melodic stuff. Don't get me wrong, i'm still a pit pusher, and I rock out when I go to shows, but just listening in the car, I'll take a nice East Jesus Nowhere over Longview. Pretty much every song on Dookie, I can't listen to anymore but FOD. Just have heard it SOOOOOO many times. I'm in the school that AI is their masterpiece but my favorite songs are all over the place. I also love TCB. I just love the lyrics, harmony and music. I think it will be considered their golden age. It's easy to forget that Billie is pushing towards 50 and he is still writing and making great music with the same band. Yes, The Rolling Stones, and bands like Waters, Mccartney and once Bowie were playing out and putting on amazing shows but they haven't made a good record in decades. Finally, I don't think there is as much difference between each album as you are purporting. It is my opinion that there is at least one song on every album that would fit on any other album. Green Day sounds like Green Day to me. Very distinct and not very variable but still the best rocking band IMO.

  12. I have a lot of respect for the way BJ talks about the trilogy. Publicly admitting its flaws is quite a brave move, I mean many people would stand their ground and said they're satisfied with it instead.

  13. Sometimes I think that I should start eating popcorn while reading this thread... I'm curiuos what happened with Olivia and Dreamcatcher. I'm wondering if they have even considered them as Trilogy tracks or b-sides.

  14. Exactly. In early interviews pre-trilogy release I remember the guys saying they were aiming for a "live-like sound", and, to me, stay the night fits perfectly in that description (most of the other songs on the trilogy don't though)

  15. I prefer Trilogy over some of the albums yes. Dookie, Nimrod and Warning are my top three and then come Uno and Tre

  16. Assuming I said that On a more positive side of things, I heard Oh Love on the radio the other day and it felt so cool to hear it somewhere I had no control of what was being played and it sounded so great. I am glad to be a UNODOETRE supporter
