I read that BANG BANG hit number one on the UK Rock charts and is climbing all 12 rock charts. This song is on course to become one of their biggest hits yet and is already at least their 11th most successful single, that's great!4 points

I've just watched their performance of Hitchin a ride at Goat Island- the one where they shout at the boat behind them- and I'm crying with laughter3 points

This thread is gossip central lol. Pretty sure no one knows every intricate detail of Billie and Adrienne's relationships and we don't really need to speculate about it.3 points
-
Yeah you also have to bear in mind that Billie tells 50 different stories about everything including the meaning of songs and you have to expect he'll never want to make himself look bad or like he was an asshole to any girlfriend by cheating etc.3 points

Yeah, Jason White is the man who formed Green Day. Jason White composes all their music. Jason White writes all the lyrics. They are nothing without Jason White. Jason White is our hero. All hail Jason White! & son, do you even Green Day?2 points

Dominated Love Slave sounds a lot like 'She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain'. Had a very weird moment when I thought they were playing the former to a room full of under-8 year olds.2 points

I'm stoked about the physical copy of Bang Bang even though I already own about ten different versions of Letterbomb live. I just love owning a physical copy!2 points

Actually, maybe sharing this might be very random but actually I "made" a story (American Idiot-esque) with the trilogy surrounding the theme of midlife crisis and starring the main character James Lunn (Rusty James) and many other characters, and I've been writing a book about the story for a year now haha, it's called "Drunks, Chumps & Sugar Lumps" and every song off the trilogy is chapter on the book. It would be cool to share it some day.2 points

Well my opinion is that "bang bang"s Sound😉 Is the perfect consequence of their evolution aaaaaaaand I'm very happy2 points

Florence Welch on Covering Green Day, Quitting Drinking It's hard to imagine, but you were really into skate punk. The first CD I ever bought was Green Day's Dookie. It was my first clue that there could be a whole identity around the music you liked. I had the shoes and the world's baggiest cords. The only thing I didn't have was a skateboard. You even recorded a complete cover of Green Day's Nimrod a few years ago. I was going to see punk bands, and [producer-artist] Dev Hynes and I bonded. We were talking about how we loved Nimrod, and we recorded it in his kitchen with just his guitar. It's out there on the Internet! Later, I met Billie Joe Armstrong, and he told me he liked it. My 13-year-old self's head was exploding somewhere in the past. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/florence-welch-talks-covering-green-day-quitting-drinking-201605111 point

Guys, how do you understand the expression "world war zero" in Bang Bang's lyrics ? I get the idea but I can't figure it out clearly.1 point

When you post pictures you need to click on 'insert other media' then click on 'Insert image from URL' and then you paste in the link to the website. You then click 'insert into post' to post your picture. Oh, and I've just Googled their performance at Tikki Bar and I love Billies hair1 point
-
I need to sort out how to upload pics but Google Green Day live Tikki Bar and you will see Billie with very short hair and a white t-shirt with red edging with the sleeves cut - but be prepared he looks amazing even if most of the pics are pretty poor quality1 point

I've seen theories about what the tattoo was for. One theory is that he got it for the band Zeke. There actually is a hardcore punk band from Seattle called Zeke but by the time Billie had actually covered the tattoo the band had only had one single!! I seriously doubt Billie, who loves about a million bands both mainstream and underground would randomly tattoo the name of one who has done practically nothing. Also I'm fairly positive he had the tattoo before the band formed so there's that Zeke could be anyone. Basically nobody knows. Anything said here is just wild speculation to be honest.1 point
-
Anyone knows who Zeke was? As you probably know, Billie had tattoo on his chest with this name (at least I think it's a name ), but he covered it up with car tattoo.1 point

woah, thanks for posting that, I never knew that Armatage shanks was written before dookie came out! PS, sorry mods, I know quoting pictures is frowned upon but I tried to delete it and i couldn't. it's either my computer actin up or the beer1 point

Wow- as far as first singles go, Hitchin' A Ride and Geek Stink Breath didn't make the cut? And overall singles...no Good Riddance or Brain Stew? From what I remember obviously Good Riddance and Brain Stew were huge- and for lead singles, Hitchin A Ride had more buzz than BB in the States, anyway. Not that it means anything- BB is a better song than Hitchin'- but I am surprised it is already more popular given how huge and well received on radio Hitchin' was at the time.1 point

Hahaha I wouldn't call that 'in-depth' He talked about it occasionally and if you read "Nobody Likes You" you'll know just as much as I do @T@l Also if you're interested, they talk a bit about their love lives including Erica in this interview and it's not very, uh... nice1 point
-
I'm sure she didn't just drop him like a hot potato the second Billie called her1 point
-
Yeah from what I've heard Billie say in a few interviews they met on the tour in 1990 but then just kept in touch by phone and had kind of an on/off long distance thing but it didn't last long and they were both seeing other people. They only really got together properly when he decided to call her in 1994 and make a go of it, and she came to California and they ended up getting married a few weeks later. Easy to know about Adrienne because Billie's talked about how they got together a lot, he hasn't discussed other girlfriends at length so I don't think you can really pin down the whole story of his relationships accurately1 point
-
Erica was Billie's first serious girlfriend. They began dating on his 16th birthday according to her. Christie Road was written about where they used to meet up. She's known as their first fan between the band members according to Bill Schneider and Billie's brother in one book I read. She and Billie dated until the end of the tour in 91. Well I know she goes by both Erica and Arica and kinda always has because she was the bands photographer for a number of years and is credited on some of their albums under both names. Also I've seen her as Paleno and Pelino but I know she's Mike Pelino's sister so I stick with Pelino1 point
-
Billie and Adrienne dated before Kerplunk came out (2000 Light Years Away is about their first kiss) and then they broke up. From there Billie went onto date Erica and Amanda, and Adrienna got engaged. Then at some point after the release of Dookie they got back together and got married.1 point
-
Yeah but don't confuse "met" with "were dating" because Adrienne was engaged to another Billy (Bison of Libido Boyz) and Billie was dating Erica Pelino and then went on to date Amanda until just before Dookie came out. I found this quote from Spin by Billie about splitting with Amanda just before Dookie was released.1 point

I really like that blonde. He only had it for some shows during 21stcentury breakdown - it was longer in the beginning and then he went to blonde and shorter AND striped pants ^^ I'm usually team black hair but he's very handsome in those pictures.1 point

Well I want to just say that I'm proud of them, and thank them for never giving up because they meant a lot to me. But I know I'd probably say something completely off the wall and then hate myself until i die.1 point

My boyfriend doesn't get why, if I had the chance, I WOULDN'T want to meet green day mano a mano. Let me count the ways. #1 I'd probably be very puffy-faced from crying my eyes out during their set. #2 My uncontrollable running nose from crying my eyes out while meeting them. #3 Calling Billie, "The Beej" (pronounced like Bea-ige or Bee-juh) to his face because that's the only way I address him in my head. #4 Sweaty. I am a very sweaty person. #5 The awkward silent exchange between Mike and I, only to be broken by the scariest, most toothy grin i could ever make before running away. #6 If my breath stinks from whatever I ate that day, the toxic fumes might kill them. #7 I may snap his spine by accident if I give Beej's delicate little body a bear hug. #8 Sounding like a creep when asking about their families. #9 Sounding even more like a creep if I accidentally hint to marrying into the family (hey Joey, call me). #10 Starring too intensely at Tre's nose. Because it is fascinating. and so much more.1 point

Yes yes yes yes yes I need them. I'm so ready for it, I've got plans to make and money to spend. Lots of the first and less of the second.1 point
