I listened to UNO for the first time in ages today & made me remember how excited I was the first morning of its release & walking into the record shop seeing GD in the new release section.

I love the fact that J.A.R is not on insomniac , it's sort of an angry concept album and J.A.R is very relaxed song .I'm a big fan of insomniac , it's a deep,serious album but if i would put J.A.R on any album it would be pre-Dookie stuff. or i wouldn't put it on any album at all. On the other hand,it could make a great ending to an album "All i wanna do is.." that would be a cool ending.But still,i love that it's not on any album. Mike's songwriting is also great.

Let's talk about how great JAR is. I've always loved this song since I got the Angus soundtrack back in 97 (or maybe 98). great bass into, very energetic drumming, huge guitar sound, nice solo, and I really like the vocals. I knew it came out between Dookie and Insomniac and I also knew that they demoed it for Dookie, but I never looked into the recording specs until yesterday. I assumed before that it may have been recorded during the Dookie sessions but left off the album, but that's not the case because JAR was recorded by Kevin Army and Dookie was recorded by Neil King and mixed by Jerry Fin. Kevin Army recorded Insomniac, so i guess it's possible that JAR was recorded early in the Insomniac sessions because it was mixed by Kevin Army and not Jerry Finn. The drums and the bass are a little thinner than the Finn mix on Insomniac, but the guitars sound great, they have just enough high end in them so they aren't lost in the mix, and I love how loud they are

Talking of Maria, poprocks and coke is actually really underrated. forgot it was even a thing.

Why has it taken me this long to realize what a great song Maria is?
