  1. Really? Warning has some very serious subjects on it, a failing marriage, materialism, being an individual, not following the crowed, etc. It was a first step at tackling more serious subjects. I have always thought of it as a pre-cursor to AI. IT is a brilliant, more mature album than anything they had done in the past, up to that point. And, it is hardly over produced.

  2. Your self-appointed board mommy is telling you to close your eyes and forget you read it. Just a totally random thought. I've grown a great appreciation for Too Much Too Soon. It is fun and fast paced with good lyrics. I find myself singing out loud when it comes on shuffle.

  3. thank you for such nice words, Judi. This made me beyond happy. I'm glad you enjoyed my musing. Yes, it all boils down to taste Insomniac is perfect, I could go on and on about it. I love the way he switched to the serious mood and the lyrics have edge and real strenght in them. It's full of emotion. Really the best thing to listen to when you're a teenager in the i hate everything and noone understands mood

  4. One person's meaningful is another's trivial, it's all valid Insomniac is one I've recently started to see in a whole new light, Stuart and the Ave might actually be one of my favourite songs now. That angst of moving on after a fuck up - and Westbound Sign will always be one of the best to me!

  5. I like both. Nimrod is one of my favorites, but I consider it a step between Insomniac and Warning. Insomniac is probably their first attempt of a serious album. It deals with growing up, relationships that don't work and drugs. These are all personal issues like the ones he tacked on Nimrod - he may have written about different issues in a more mature way, but it hardly was a new topic in his writing. However, Warning actually brought new topics and even more serious writing. The often criticised folky sound in my opinion suits the mood in songs like Castaway or Deadbeat Holiday.

  8. Yeah I mean even though I'm not a big fan of that sound I like the album, so they must've pulled it off pretty well.

  9. I very much agree, nicely put! And I agree that the folksy sound suits the album, and they did it well. Folksy is just one of my least favourite sounds, unfortunately

  10. I like Nimrod a lot more musically, lyrically and content wise . Love the subtle surfy/retro feel of Nimrod's music and the variety, while folkiness as heard on Warning is my least favourite of the sounds they've tried. And I can see that the lyrical approach progressed on Warning but I still prefer the lyrics of Nimrod, I just like the choice of words and turn of phrase more and even though the cliched-ness of some of Warning's lyrics is mostly knowing and deliberate it still makes them less appealing to me. And I prefer the more personal themes of Nimrod to the social commentary stuff on Warning, and even though Warning has a lot of personal stuff too I find Nimrod's more relatable. It's just personal preference though, they both have their merits.

  11. I personally like both Nimrod and Warning, but Warning is far superior, musically, lyrically and content wise. You are not alone, I love Misery.

  12. Redundant is about marital issues. It seems like people either like Nimrod or Warning but not both. It's like they like one and hate the other. I personally like Warning more. Misery is one of my favorite songs. Am I alone on this? The music is so damn catchy!

  13. 5sos are copycat assholes There's having a great level of admiration for a band, having them be your inspiration, and cover a few of their songs... And then there's the "I wanna be just like you, and famous" level, where they try to do the exact same thing because they think it will bring them the same level of fame. If anything, it made me have a stronger dislike to them than if they would just go find their own fame.

  14. Yeah sure they were going to write with Billie. I was gonna write Billie myself a few months ago but I Didn't have enough days off left at work this year so we re scheduled for next year. Billie seemed very disappointed I wasn't available this year.
