  1. Probably not the right place to post this, but NME posted an interview with Jacob Armstrong about his EP 'Jacob Danger' which is coming out tomorrow. http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/jakob-danger-son-of-green-days-billie-joe-armstrong-speaks-on-the-strokes-high-school-and-joining-th

  2. No problem! I think they've said they were all burnt out/exhausted at the time but Mike's health being affected by it to that extent was just too much, and it was a well needed break for all of them.

  3. Yeah he had/has some sort of mild heart condition and stress from the tour was causing him to have panic attacks which exacerbated it.

  4. The song was co-written. Mike has experienced panic attacks as well. He actually had serious problems with them back then - if I'm correct, the Insomniac tour was cut short because of his issues.

  5. I remember being a little kid and thinking "damn, I hope I'm friends with my best friend for as long as Mike and Billie are" Even though we only see each other once every couple years since going to Uni, this year is officially 15 years! If the trend continues, I'll beat them (They met at 10yrs old, we met at 7yrs old. So when they were 22 they knew each other for only 12 years). I remember wanting to start a band together so badly in middle school. The year I got into Green Day (she's the one who introduced me to them), I got a bass and she got an electric guitar. I wrote some stupid GD ripoff lyrics for our band called The Apathetic Donuts (because I was a stupid kid and didn't know how to spell doughnut correctly). Not going through with that is still one of my biggest regrets.

  6. Nirvana Made History With ‘Nevermind,’ But They Aren’t Rock’s Best Trio Ever6. Green Day I really think the evolution of Green Day is fascinating, especially if you go back to their early days, even further back than Dookie, when they were ripping through 3-minute roller coasters like “Going to Pasalaqua.” Compare that to a song like “21 Guns.” The band definitely grew up, but in doing so, never lost the spunk they had when they started out. They were in a sense, the grandfathers of the pop punk revolution. And yeah, like anyone’s grandfather might be prone to do, sometimes they get a little drunk and surly in public, but we love ’em just the same. The fact that Green Day is still around and still popular some 20 years after they made it big is really nothing short of a miracle. http://uproxx.com/music/2015/09/best-trios-rock-history/

  7. Billie mentioned here: Fidlar frontman Zac Carper discusses childhood sexual abuse: http://www.nme.com/news/fidlar/88027 He also spoke about how Green Day frontman Bille Joe Armstrong had helped him to kick his heroin addiction, however. Discussing an hour-long phone call in which Armstrong had encouraged him to stay clean, he stated: "I probably wouldn’t be sober today if Billie Joe didn’t call. He really helped me when no-one else was there."
