  1. Billie's best vocals are on 21CB and there are some truly awesome lyrics. I think the effects work well with the focus of the album. Actually, the only song I don't like on it is Christian's Inferno, the rest are great.

  2. Random thought that came to me... one reason why bands like Green Day are so good is because most of the time in life you don't want the answers or solutions to your problems. You just want to know that someone else feels the same way. Personally the lyrics to songs like Armatage Shanks, Christie Road and Burnout mean so much to me for the help I've found in them. Sure many other Green Day fans have their own songs which they find particular help them.

  3. Rarely? Might be that nobody understands a word he sings I'd say many people value Insomniac's lyrics. I do and it's the Green Day album I listen to in full the most often. (I rarely do so but when I pick up some Green Day it's usually Insomniac or 21CB.)

  4. It has way too many vocal effects and other shit that's completely unnecessary. The song structure of some of the tracks remind me of JOS. Jumping from one thing to another and back again and I hate that. They should have just kept it simple. The only plus for me is Mike singing in American Eulogy. Songs like Restless Heart Syndrome, Horseshoes And Handgrenades, Viva la Gloria (Little Girl), Peacemaker, East Jesus Nowhere, Before The Lobotomy are complete crap. I would put Christian's Inferno there too, but it has a catchy chorus and that saved it.

  6. Welcome! I hope so, but however it compares to other albums it's also just exciting having no clue what direction they'll go in, I can't wait to find out what it'll be. And I have a lot of favourites but 21st CB is one of them , amazing album and the most ambitious and complex music they've made so far for sure.

  7. Not that I disagree, Nimrod lyrics are brilliant and I appreciate them a lot but I do enjoy the different approach and complexity. Even if the result isn't perfect I enjoy the attempt. He's so angry he can't enounciate!

  9. No not even if you say pretty please

  10. The lyrics are too complex if you ask me. Dookie, Nimrod and Warning had the best lyrics and song structure. Also simple but catchy melodies.

  11. Nobody knows what relief it was when I found I wasn't the only one who couldn't understand a word. However, reading those lyrics is pure joy, as their author would say. I do appreciate them in the same way as literature and that's why I'm glad I had to look them up - because it taught me to read and study lyrics more thoroughly and enjoy them like poetry.

  12. I agree with Jane. The issue with Insomniac is that you can't understand a single word he says. You have to look up the lyrics to appreciate them. Most casual fans will not go to the trouble to do that, thus the under appreciation of the lyrics. Whereas on 21CB, you can understand what he is singing and it includes some spectacular lyrics.
