  1. Never heard of him but clicking the source links on Wikipedia led me to two interviews with him where he talked about it, the first from this year and the second from 2007, all he says is it was "years ago": He sounds like a dickhead tbh

  2. I'll be right there with you — although I became a fan after American Idiot, my interest tapered off between it and 21CB and honestly I didn't follow much of that album's promotion at all because I was getting ready to start college and worried about other things. The trilogy was the only album I've really watched happen from start to finish (or demise, I suppose), and I've never experienced an actual onslaught of Green Day news, promotion, tours, etc. It'll be interesting to see, and it will definitely a big deal to me too! [cue "fake fan" comments, etc., I know ]

  3. the only reason for your saying so can be the fact that birds have no ears.

  4. This just sounds like two whiny, self-entitled, rich white dudes acting like two whiny, self-entitled, rich white dudes. Can we agree to disagree and stop fighting now?

  5. He made it quite clear (in the subsequent interviews as well as when presenting the award) that he already had a deep dislike for Green Day before that incident, it wasn't brought on about by that. And seriously, if Billie Joe had behaved that way to another artist when presenting an award to them, there would be thousands of articles about it now and a 20+ pages thread on here about how unprofessional/dickish that was of him. It's clearly not the same as saying "I'm not a fan of Green Day" in an interview when asked about it. It should also be worthy of note that these interviews happened like at least 10 years after the incident, he might have embellished his story a bit to make it a bit more interesting after such a long time.

  6. but what did Wade do before hand? he's left out the part that shows him in a bad light (just as he did with Linkin Park...) not that I'm saying what Billie said was cool or anything but we only had one person saying this he said there were a crowd around surely there would be others that could back his story up something like that would been talked about no drama that happens backstage at a award shows goes untalked about at all

  7. I found this about what happened. Billie's reaction may have been extreme. However, it seems some reaction was justified. "Band picks up 'Best Internation Live Act' award (Aug 27) Green Day have been rewarded for their high energy stage performance by winning Kerrang's 'Best Internation Live Act' award. An awkward moment didn't seem to bother the band as Wattie Buchan, singer of Exploited, came onstage to deliver the award, and upon opening up the envelope, muttered "I don't fucking believe it," and stalked off stage -- before even revealing who the winner was. The band acted like nothing had happened, doesn't sound like something Green Day would do does it?"

  8. You are assuming Wattie Buchan's story is true.

  9. I don't see how the two situations are comparable but just to answer anyway, obviously he didn't say anything but Billie (very rudely and insensitively yes) used his name to symbolize technology in general rather than meaning it as a genuine personal attack. He was inspired by dislike of certain aspects of technology. How unpleasant Billie might have been to people at other times isn't the point though. The point is you can't judge who was more in the wrong in an argument when you've only heard one person's version of what happened and they didn't even tell the full story. Billie obviously didn't just go up to him and say that at random, without hearing what was said before we don't know who said the worse things, who started it or who was more in the wrong.

  10. Happened with me once. I was on the metro humming Stray Heart when a couple of foreigner girls just looked at me in awe. Then we started talking Green Day until it was time for me to de-board.

  11. Saw a car with a Green Day decal on the back bumper. Actually took a picture and if I can figure out how to block their license plate number I will post it.

  12. I was out eating ice cream and a girl passed by me wearing a GD shirt. On her way out I flashed her my GD phone case and we shared smiles. I just love those little "we like the same thing" moments with strangers.

  13. Just something that came to my mind: I didn't come a huge GD fan until after 21st Century Breakdown, specifically after I heard Static Age for the first time. At this point it was months after the initial release and they were touring, so I didn't really get to witness the bulk of their promotion and what not. When the trilogy was released, there was little promotion and little radio play. SO if/when they release their next album and if that album is somewhat popular, I don't know how I will react to hearing songs other than the classics on the radio and seeing them on TV doing promotion and what not. I know to a lot of people it seems like nothing but somehow, this is a big deal to this guy (me)

  15. Brilliant to hear! Random thought, Nimrod is amazing . Listened to it today and it's perfection. I also very much enjoy listening to Insomniac followed by Nimrod, they make a good pair.
