I'm not arguing anything about his drug use, it's something they've clearly talked about in the past. No doubt they used speed - they've talked about it before. I was just clarifying that the gory teeth pulling part of Geek Stink Breath wasn't Billie Joe's - it was a friend who was getting their teeth pulled. You were a bit too quick to jump to "That likely is why he lost a few teeth hence the video!!" That's how unconfirmed info starts getting spread around - so just clarifying for others reading. Though yes, anyone who doesn't think they did meth only has to read the lyrics to Geek Stink Breath http://www.greendayauthority.com/music/song/54/ And if that wasn't direct enough, from Rolling Stone interview after rehab http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/the-rolling-stone-interview-billie-joe-armstrong-20130314#ixzz3bm78Fzgo "There was a lot of nihilism going around. Dropout kids, people that felt like outcasts — they were coming into this scene. Things like scarification, bad tattoos, drinking booze, snorting methamphetamine — nobody thought of it as addict behavior. We knew everybody that was doing that. And we were doing it as well. We'd be at a party at someone's house where bands were playing. Someone would have speed, and we'd do it. Then I would start writing songs when I got home. It wasn't a necessity. The song was already there. The courage was what I needed. The fear was always there, even when we were doing American Idiot."6 points

ok this is like months later BUT yes, it is true. I heard he tried to attempt it when people requested it, but he didn't know the words, so I printed out the lyrics for him so he wouldn't have any excuses. at the sound check in las vegas on august 21, 2009, i held up the lyrics and he said "what's that?" and I said "it's the lyrics to misery, since you seem to always forget them" and he laughed but continued on with the sound check. at the end of the sound check, he comes over to me and says "let me see those lyrics", takes them back to his spot and has the whole band playing it. it was amazing. he totally messed everything up when he got to the bridge, though, so he stopped the band and gave me the lyrics back. a year later, I brought the lyrics to one of the "american idiot talkbacks" that Billie did after a few of the american idiot on broadway shows. after completely making fun of me and my tie dyed shirt in front of everyone, he later apologized to me and I gave him the misery lyrics to sign and he was like "oh, I remember this! you're the girl that made us play this!" and he autographed them for me. one of these days i'll get it framed, but I still haven't gotten around to it. the end.4 points

A local radio has a new set of jingles in which a girl is talking to a doctor. In one she complains about her boyfriend not wanting to have sex and the doctor suggests Green Day as a remedy. It's so cringeworthy that it's almost funny.3 points

I don't think that's what anyone is doing, either. It might have been harder drugs for all we know, no one is saying that's impossible. I just know from being close to alcoholics that booze on its own, let alone combined with pills can mess someone up and land them in rehab, so I don't see any reason to believe otherwise.3 points

I have to admit, Billie is really good at snarling and sounding pissed of while still making his voice sound melodic3 points

I don't think anyone is denying that Billie used meth or other hard drugs in the past or is even saying it matters, just seemed a bit unfounded/unfair to speculate that he did during the trilogy era when he hasn't said that.2 points

I love Christian's Inferno and (aside from the amazing evil laugh) the contrast between the verses and the chorus is the best part! It made me laugh out loud the first time I heard it, the way it surprises you with this catchy tuneful chorus after the totally different sounding snarly verses is great. And then it descends back down to the evilness with that laugh, perfect. I like the countdown because of that too. It's fun. It's like a countdown to a "nuclear" bomb going off and the album/party starting so seems fitting.2 points

I still can't get past Nuclear Family's lyrics. What the hell is a Chinese drama and conspiracy supposed to mean? That said, at least he didn't pronounce it nucular family.2 points

That is what kills it for me. You have upbeat, angry verses and then it goes inot super poppish, repetitive chorus. It just doesn't fit.1 point

it is kind of Badass song, when played Live! ^_^ wonder why they stripped it down on the record :/ Well, you cannot expect more from a filler, it is like longing for Pork in a vegetarian restaurant ~_~1 point

That's what I remember him saying too. I don't think not wanting to go into detail means he was doing other stuff but rather that he just didn't want to talk about it.1 point

Where in that RS article did Billie refer to doing drugs other than the prescription meds? I got the impression he just had a huge problem with booze.1 point
