I'm obviously not complaining... But, if I disregard my sick, twisted fangirl enjoyment of Billie Joe making an ass of himself, I still don't think I would ever have a problem with him groping himself, making sex noises, etc. I mean, it's kind of like his response to the angry parent that inspired the song Reject — he's not going to dumb down his music for the eight-year-old kids that might be in the audience. A lot of the band's lyrical content and themes are just as offensive as a grown man putting his hand down his pants and moaning in jest. Any parent who is stupid enough to take their young child to a concert before researching the band or performer doesn't have the right to be offended, tbh. So often parents place the blame on others instead of taking responsibility for their own inability to properly parent. The reason I didn't get to see Green Day on the American Idiot Tour is because my parents backtracked on their plan to buy me tickets after they decided the band wasn't "appropriate" for a 14-year-old. Aaaand that's why I am the way I am today. But, anyway... it's basically just a "shock value" stunt. I doubt he actually finds himself sexy while doing it. I assume it's just meant to be funny and idiotic, not offensive, serious or actually sexy. (Even though the man looks good doing basically anything...)7 points

I just remembered that I once suggested Makeout Party to a friend who asked if I knew any dirty rock songs, and he said the music wasn't his thing but the lyrics were some of the best he'd ever heard. Very deep and meaningful, apparently. Don't get me wrong, I like the song, but I wouldn't call "truth or dare, kiss me there" Billie's deepest lyrical venture4 points

I wrote a text (3 pages) about Green Day in a class test, including all names of every record, I got an A.3 points

Since it is such a beautiful day, I was sitting by my car, eating Peachwave and listening to Stop, Drop & Roll. Some guy asks me what group I'm listening too. I said the Foxboro Hot tubs and explained about how they are a Green Day side project, basically talked his ear off for 10 minutes giving him the story. He said he really liked the album. So, Billie can thank me, for the whole band, that I gained them one more fan.3 points

"Time to enter... Billie ninja mode..." lol If he had an account on here, he'd rake in 85% of GDC's population as friends the first day and no matter what he posted, it'd get repped haha2 points

Cool. I would've mentioned Dominated Love Slave as my favorite song so I could hope she looks it up. *or rather not2 points

That's cool. I like something from every era. The only one I can't really get into is the Lookout era. I like Kerplunk, but I just can't get into 39 Smooth. Well, I think you sort of got C&V, just in bits and pieces.1 point

ya i know, it's my fav from Demolicious. This would just be an ideal set list for me (my personal favorite songs) just to get in the pit and have that serious energy if that makes sense. (not implying that a regular set list wouldn't do that). I know the songs i listed are a bit older but "post Iraq War" GD doesn't deliver for me like the older tracks..(American Idiot is great but i get different vibes).... really wish Cigs and Valentines would have happened and still got American idiot.. not saying the newer stuff is bad .. just more into the B-sides from that point on. just my opinion def not fact.1 point

State of Shock was only recorded as a demo, and yes I know you have an American Idiot bonus track, but it is supposedly a Cigarettes and Valentines song. Yeah, not getting the show. There isn't a song I hate, but none that I love either. I think I am finally going to put together mine. Stay tuned, then we can compare.1 point

For last english lesson we had to make a top 5 countdown with our favourite songs (with description) and another girl chose Basket Case on her No. 4. Her first was Red Flag by Billy Talent and my first was Burnout, because I wrote too much for the other songs I wanted to choose for the first place . Our teacher liked it too, the others in my class didn't liked it. I hate lists like that, I can't choose one favourite song... So I made a list of my 5 favourite bands and chose any nice song for each band. First I thought about F.O.D. or Fuck Time, just to see the face of my teacher1 point

All of these ideas are speculation though...he never said what these songs are about so we will never know exactly if Juliana is intended to be a character from tv or was someone he knew like Ashley etc etc. A lot of the lyrics from the trilogy were non-sensical or random words jammed together to form sentences so putting "homicide" in may have just been to rhyme with "alive" and "bride" who knows? Also technically he never really stopped drinking so how could DRB be about him starting drinking again and it includes lyrics about "chop me a line" so it alludes to drug use. Honestly in it's basic form it seems to just be about going on a major bender because you no longer give any fucks.1 point

Yeah the masturbating shtick was unnecessary to me. I just thought it was a bit pointless and took up time when they could be playing another song. Like Hermoine said, I don't think he does that anymore though. I'll be curious to see what changes they make, if any, in their sets to entertain the crowd for their next tour they know how to keep things interesting!1 point

It would be so awesome if he'd read here sometimes, or this conversation right now...1 point

Mike once posted a screenshot of GDC that he took on Instagram, so he has. Don't think there's any evidence that Billie has/does though. His sister joined and posted a bit after one of the Foxboro Hot Tubs show in 2008, I think that's the closest we've got1 point

That'd be awesome though sometimes we talk about really random subjects that might make him wish he hadn't haha1 point

As a guitar player, this hurt me deeply Hermione, this is the difference: Basically, a clean sound comes from pushing less power through the amplifier tubes, which causes the sound to break up less, and sound, well, cleaner. A distorted sound comes when you push more power through the tubes, which causes the sound to break up in uneven ways. You can control the level of breakup on most modern amplifiers with a dedicated control for it, but older amplifiers had to have the volume turned up very loud for that kind of breakup to occur.1 point
