The Trilogy is cleaner and more over-produced than anything they've put out before, which is pretty much the opposite of the formula that made them famous. Not surprised they didn't quite make it work. It's about edge, yes, but I think it's also about honesty, which was severely lacking on the Trilogy. The music felt less heartfelt, less earnest than anything they put out before.

As a guitar player, this hurt me deeply Hermione, this is the difference: Basically, a clean sound comes from pushing less power through the amplifier tubes, which causes the sound to break up less, and sound, well, cleaner. A distorted sound comes when you push more power through the tubes, which causes the sound to break up in uneven ways. You can control the level of breakup on most modern amplifiers with a dedicated control for it, but older amplifiers had to have the volume turned up very loud for that kind of breakup to occur.

For a guy who is generally a neurotic mess, he is a pretty damn good model.

Judge me all you want but I still like the production of the trilogy, being able to hear every element of the music/singing super clearly is awesome.

To be fair most things are 100% more fuckable than Dee Snider

Was it the EP version, or the 'Let's Go' record version? Couldn't make it out too much in the audio. EDIT: Nevermind, it's the 'Let's Go' version after analysing it.

OK, I think we are in agreement on the sweaty and smudged eyeliner part.

There is something about Billie wearing that ruffled shirt that I find so sexy. I don't know what it is because if it was any other guy I would say it was weird and ugly. I guess it just works on him.

Plus, lonely actually fits the theme of the song. The line being "When masturbation's lost its fun, your fucking lonely", is the perfect ending. It is that ending that lets you know what the theme actually is.

"Android" would make for a perfect energetic live song. I'm surprised they didn't play it as the Sweet Children at House of Blues.

It only really struck me yesterday how incredible the lyrics of Jesus Of Suburbia are. Obviously loads of people love the "home is where the heart is" line, but every single verse speaks to me on some level. For a song with so many lines to be so consistently great lyrically is just mindblowing. There's just so much that seems to get overlooked due to its length. Plus the craftsmanship in putting so many "soundbite" type lines together and making it not seem over the top is admirable.
