*shakes off dust* ah, haven't been here in a bit. Misery is the coolest fucking song ever, but it took me a while to warm up to it. I'm very curious to see where their sound goes next. Something along the lines of Nimrod/Warning seems most logical, because they may want to experiment a bit more after spewing out more pop-rock in 3 albums than the rest of their catalog combined. I wouldn't complain about more pop-punk, but the production would have to be better. I want to hear distorted guitars and Billie's signature tone if they're going to do pop-punk.5 points

*deep breath* I'm gonna admit it. Misery is my favorite Green Day song. Ever.5 points

The Trilogy is cleaner and more over-produced than anything they've put out before, which is pretty much the opposite of the formula that made them famous. Not surprised they didn't quite make it work. It's about edge, yes, but I think it's also about honesty, which was severely lacking on the Trilogy. The music felt less heartfelt, less earnest than anything they put out before.2 points
-
Yeah that "edge" is exactly what I was missing in the trilogy (sound-wise, lyrics I don't even need to mention). It was a combination of vocal filters and guitar tone, at least that's the conclusion I (and others in here) have drawn.2 points

Green Day will be on the new Guitar Hero game. The song appearing initially will be Nuclear Family but other songs will be made available. Oh Love was also shown in the games trailer http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/exclusive-rolling-stones-green-day-lead-guitar-hero-live-set-list-201505122 points

Plus, lonely actually fits the theme of the song. The line being "When masturbation's lost its fun, your fucking lonely", is the perfect ending. It is that ending that lets you know what the theme actually is.2 points

I prefer pants with goats. So I'm not spamming, have something much less interesting than goat-print leggings. LG Arena, Birmingham, October 27 20092 points

Hellz yeah. I also like how on the demo version instead of just "It gets so hard when I'm missing you", he's all like "It gets so....hard ;) when I'm missing you", lol.2 points

I read that as "GD is back on the road" at first glance and just about figuratively shat myself. Why must you do this to me?!2 points

This one is so good... Man, they really ruined the trilogy by recording it the way they did. Everything from the Echoplex sounds so good.1 point

100% agree with this: What Green Day lacked in the Trilogy, in my opinion, was their "edge." Even in Warning, where they had more upbeat songs like Waiting and Minority, or experimental tracks like Blood, Sex, and Booze or Misery, they still had that punchy tone that I associate with the signature Green Day sound. (Maybe it's the distorted guitars?) Many of the Trilogy tracks were a bit too heavy on the pop side of pop punk for my taste. I'm feeling optimistic for their next album though. Especially since Billie said he wants to take his time with it.1 point

The person who tweeted that is from Saint Paul, I'm assuming Minnesota. Maybe the Armstrongs are getting a new place in Minnesota.1 point

As long as he's sweaty and covered in smudged eyeliner, that's fine with me. I'll compromise.1 point

There is something about Billie wearing that ruffled shirt that I find so sexy. I don't know what it is because if it was any other guy I would say it was weird and ugly. I guess it just works on him.1 point

It says "lazy" in the booklet, but as booklets are often prepared before the final recording of songs they're often incorrect. He clearly sings "lonely" on the album and when performing the song live.1 point

The beauty of the written word is in multiple interpretations. Also, there should be a thread for actual news and one for "nonsense and poor journalism". Getting a bit tired from every single Google alert being worth a post in this thread.1 point

I think it was probably just that they like it more I love the lyrics of See The Light, and along with the bit from the start of 21st CB that's repeated they make it a really fitting end to the album, but musically it otherwise probably is one of the least interesting songs on there. Plus every time he goes "I-I-I...I just wanna see the light" I imagine he's going to go "I-I-I...wanna rock and roll all night" instead which doesn't help.1 point

Well, I mean, if Billie Joe No. 2 showed up at my door I wouldn't complain. But if I could choose, I'd pick Billie Joe No. 1, tall short, dark and handsome.1 point

here's Nightlife in a nutshell: Poor lyrics Lazy song structure Weak guitar tone Billie Joe harmonizing with himself, and not Mike Excessive riff copying (even for green day) Sooo much tambourine... A girl rapping. I mean, really Green Day? just no! Now tell me what's wrong with DRB.1 point

That three note lead guitar run in the chorus of 21 Guns is the most annoying thing they've ever done.1 point

I like Mike's voice better than Billie's. I also like John's drumming better than Tré's, in a way. I just feel that Tré's style is more suited for poppier songs and John's is better for harder ones. I can only dream of what Insomniac would have been had Mr. Sobrante percussed...1 point

Hot Dayum. Here's an opinion on here: Green Day sucks. At least nowadays, they do. The songwriting has gotten very sloppy and makes no sense. I guess I'm more of a fan of the rock operas. If they continue in the writing direction of the trilogy, I'd have now choice but to stop following the band.1 point
