I generally prefer Demolicious over the Trilogy. Acoustic Stay The Night sounds as if he was singing it just for you. It's a lovely version of that song. I'd really enjoy if they included it in an acoustic encore.3 points

To us who discovered them through Dookie, which is their breakthrough album, it does not get more meaningful than this.2 points

I do love Restless Heart Syndrome. The lyrics are well-written and full of emotion. Most touching lyrics Billie's ever written.2 points

I worried he was on drugs, but it was pure love that did it to him. That's so sweet!♡2 points

What have you done, Jimmy?! Derailing an entire pinned thread singlehandedly is really impressive, I'll give you that.2 points

It was a Wikipedia article about Rancid that mentioned Joe Armstrong from Green Day.1 point

I did virtually the same thing to the Doctor Who thread, I couldn't just rest on my laurels with that.1 point

i was watching the boys' induction speeches earlier and it occurred to me that tré sounds exactly like cartman and now i can't unhear it1 point

It's pretty uncommon, but it just doesn't put me off. it's still better than when they choose only Joe. Saw that once and man, that was weird.1 point

I can understand 'Billie', but I think this is really my first time seeing the combination 'Billie Armstrong' rather than 'Billie Joe' or 'Billie Joe Armstrong'. To be honest, for some reason I randomly thought of Lance Armstrong riding a bike and Billy Joel sitting behind him when I saw that. I don't know why.1 point

I dont think you are wrong. The spot where I see age is around his eyes. He has lines around his eyes. That may Be What yiu see1 point

I think he does looks maybe mature is a better word. I was just pointing out that that is what I think is the difference. I don't think he is trying to look like a teenager anymore. Being around his age, I would peg him for 40 ish if I didn't know who he was. I absolutely love that he can be such a huge fan for such a shitty team. I'm going to take the same picture of me in Jets wear. Billie and I are kindred spirits for shitty football teams.1 point

I think it's called Dry Ice because it's a romantic song, and at that time when romantic pop songs/ballads etc were performed on TV dry ice was often used as a stage effect. So it's a little joke about it being such a romantic song. Just my personal theory.1 point

Rob Clark @robclark182 20h20 hours ago Throwback to when I met Tré Cool at a Pennywise show. musically it is upbeat and fun. No it is not something musically significant but most green day songs are bot. I can play them, not like billie can, but I can play them. What is great about gd songs musically is that they get you up and moving. What makes alot of them great is that they are often coupled with wonderful lyrics. Fuck times lyrics are not the lyrics said by a teenage boy but by a 40+ man who has been married for 20 years and is trying for a spark.1 point

The acoustic version of stay the night is unbelievable. The vocals are so pretty. It is not single material but needs to do it live1 point

The last few days have been a fucking roller coaster. All our emotions were stored up for years because nothing happened but then everything happened all at once and it all unloaded like fire works on New Year's Eve. And now it's over again.1 point

I remember when it first came out - I was at school, distracted all day because I knew there'd be new Green Day when I got home. I got back as quickly as I could, my mum was stood in the doorway, and the following conversation took place: Me: "How is it?" My mum: "It's..alright." Me: "...only...alright???" My mum: "Yeah...the chords are exactly the same as All Right Now by Free, and some of Billie Joe's lead is...hmm." The first few times I heard it I agreed, but it grew on me.1 point

It's somehow interesting how pessimistic Green Day fandom is. Billie said one sentence and 24 hours later we have speculations about the band retiring or breaking up, Billie getting divorced, Jason dying of cancer, Billie dying of cancer and a hiatus hundreds of years long going on. Seriously, I doubt there are more overthinkers in any other fandom out there.1 point

Don't really get the love for When I Come Around either on the album or live, good song but pales compared to most of the other songs on Dookie and live it's one of the less exciting songs since it's neither upbeat enough to be particularly fun or energetic nor slow enough for a swaying singalong moment. Even Mike doesn't understand it (from 2:00) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKTP7-4Mlk4 I do like it when Billie changes the lyrics though ("How now brown cow", "I'm a loser, a drug user", "I'm having sex with Mike", "Mike Dirnt's a dirty whore" etc). Best thing about it.1 point
