  1. I've been listening to Insomniac on replay for the last 3 days. I just love it. Before that it was Warning for a few weeks in the car. I kind of get obsessed with an album and listen to it nonstop until I get tired of it. I take a break from it for awhile then eventually get back to it again. Which is great in a way because then it sounds new again.

  4. I love Misery. Great ballad. Funny tune. Weird lyrics. Whenever I listen to it I can picture a man from long ago in an old suit and hat at a market place or fair with a stick pointing at drawings and turn over the pages, singing the ballad.

  7. I never used to understand it either. I think part of it is how different it is from the rest of Dookie. Most of Dookie sounds like its album cover, if that makes sense--bright, dry, kinda washed-out, like a really hot summer day. And the music videos for the other singles tend to reflect that, they've been chemically altered to wash the frame out and there's a very harsh brightness to them. Whereas WICA sounds like the accompaniment to wandering down a city street at night, which, again, its video reflects. It's such a different mood from the rest of the album, which really makes it stand out as memorable. There's also the fact that it's easily the most recognizable guitar riff on Dookie. Basket Case has the most recognizable melody overall and Longview has the most iconic bassline, but in terms of guitar WICA is the standout.

  8. Hmmm guess I'm in the minority here. I happen to like Longview, Basketcase,WICA and She both on the album but especially live. There is so much energy put out by those songs between band and crowd.

  9. I was actually pointing out that I didn't think basket case or Wica are the best songs on Dookie. Basket case is good but since it is so overplayed it takes a lot away from it for me. Longview is good, but as was already said it is the most iconic bassline, but I can listen to the bassline of Wica on rotation. JoS is a masterpiece no discussion necessary. AI is brilliant in the fact that it perfectly sets up a brilliant album. It is upbeat and fun but as a son by itself, I think they have others that are better, even on ai. Whatsername is brilliant, you can easily visualize the despair. as an example

  12. It's my # 2 on Dookie. But WICA outshines everything else on the album. As far as Basket Case, overplayed, overplayed, overplayed and overplayed. And did I mention its overplayed?

  15. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2015 class: Star power and variety GREEN DAY BIO The rare band that found a second act to its career that was even bigger than its first. Singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool burst into the mainstream with their landmark punk-pop album "Dookie" in 1994 and a string of now standards, including "When I Come Around" and "Welcome to Paradise." Then, in 2004, enraged by President George W. Bush's administration, the band unleashed "American Idiot," which raised its profile without losing any punk fire, winning them Grammys and mounting a successful Broadway rock opera of the same name. BIGGEST HIT "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (No. 2, 2004) WILL BE INDUCTED BY Fall Out Boy http://www.newsday.com/entertainment/music/2015-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-class-star-power-and-variety-1.10207114

  19. * About your first question: Why not??? Some parts of the record sounds kind of old school Green Day style (especially roshambo). It sounds so different just for the synthezisers effects on this record. * This record was release on September 30th in 2003, little bit time later after the band started to write the songs for AI. * WhiteTim have said in 2010/2011 Mike Dirnt had said there was a song called "Walk Away" in C&V Sessions. I don't think is exactly the same version or the same song. Maybe the band just do another song with the same title or they re-recorded the song, who knows? I think that's the reason why some people relate this song to C&V Sessions. Synthesizers and some few changes on structures or arrangements in the songs and that's it, you get a different sound (Did you notice how similar is the song "Spike" to a demo from 2001-2002 called "What about today?"?). I know time ago the band and/or Rob Cavallo said C&V was a mixture between Nimrod and Warning, but I don't think that record was just like that (Personal opinion/observation: They always since "Kerplunk" release at least 1 song which is different to the sound of the rest of the record) If there's something I learned about this band is that EVERYTHING is possible. Maybe they were working on this project 2 or more years before, maybe it was an interval between C&V and AI or just a random idea which was developed in few sessions/weeks (Like Foxboro's project). Who knows? That's just my humble opinion about the known facts. Well, let's talk about another thing. First I love the title for this new thread and second (and here's my unpopular opinion/Blasphemy): I don't like Sam Bayer as Green Day videos director (Except AI and Holiday), Mark Kohr videos were more simple and funnier.
