I think it's just a fairly common chord progression though, as a whole the songs don't sound very alike, hardly enough to call it a rip off. Which reminds me, Green Day had an amusing dig at Oasis several years before that, at about 2:30 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fao-kx2s0d43 points

The Top Ten Music Albums of the 1990s Number Three: Dookie by Green Day. Released in 1994, Dookie was Green Day’s third overall release and major label debut that sprung them to the top of the charts. The album, featuring hits like “Longview,” “Basket Case,” “Pulling Teeth” and “When I Come Around,” sold over 10 million copies in the United States alone. Supposedly the entire album was recorded in a mere three weeks, yet it was enough time to make the record a hit, winning Green Day a Grammy for Best Alternative Album. Thought to have revived punk-rock at a time when angst and grunge were at the forefront, this album gave young kids and teenagers something to relate to, with lyrics involving teenage boredom, getting stoned, masturbation, unemployment, defying your parents and the suburban wasteland. http://fdrmx.com/top-ten-music-albums-1990s-part-one/2 points

I was translating all Green Day articles and interviews I could find, for practice; as my English teacher ignored me for 4 years straight and, well, I had to practice somehow.2 points

In fairness, Noel criticising anyone for ripping him off is the most hypocritical thing that's ever happened.2 points

The song is awesome, but my favourite bit of it is that single line sung in falsetto.1 point

Makeout Party's verses are fine. It's the chorus that ruins the song for me1 point

Oh, thanks! Well, then I need at least a passport... *cough* Yes, you´re right, visa is not required, just looked it up again. Makes things more spontaneous.1 point
-
Sometimes, you just have to do these things. As for a Visa, you shouldn't need one, just a passport.1 point

I think I know what part you are referring to --- although I thought it was a gel packet, like athletes use for energy. There are lots of little instances where he looks a bit off looking at it in hindsight. There's one in Oh Love that looks like he's trying not to puke ( to me, anyway.) (Referring to the Irving Plaza show if that wasn't clear.)1 point

That was hysterical, like watching paint dry. It is a pretty common chord progression.1 point
-
True, nit that I would defend him, but it is still the same chord progression. So he is right, technically.1 point
-
So Matt Sorum insulted the band that inducted him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Nice. Unfortunately Noel is right, the intro is virtually the same chord progression.1 point

That article was great! But, they really underestimated how much of a shit hole Asbury Park is. Going to the Stone Pony was scary. And, I want to know why Billie and Mike got interviewed by MTW but Tre had to pass the time pissing in a flower pot? I thought it was interesting how they compared Warning to Dookie. I don't think they are anything alike.1 point

I second Mar, I always look forward to reading the articles you find. Loved the one about the Plymouth concert. I'm always happy to read good press about them.1 point

That article may not be politically correct, but it is correct. Like I said, Billie has no filter. I don't care how "punk" you are, everyone gets into the music business to make money. And everyone that says otherwise is lying. John Lydon should talk now anyways, he is hocking his autobiography and sells butter.1 point

Ah, thank you so much for the answers. So best would be to stay in contact with this forum (for sure!) to find out about dates. And then there is just hope for the right time to react and travel. And money, of course. Gotta save some money... And visa, have to find out about it. If tickets are sold in advance it should be possible to buy them even from Germany... hm... well, let´s see. Depends on so many things... Told you, seems like a ridiculous idea, but who knows... would imagine I could be nuts enough to make it come true... I mean, show for one hour... and probably 24 hours flight... and a bunch of Dollars... hm... still... I´ll sleep on it...1 point
