This makes me think of a German interview from October 2000 (it's here: http://www.mucke-und-mehr.de/magint/greenday.htm), which I thought was a very good read and which dealt a bit with his exhibitionist behaviour Here's an excerpt: Q: Have you ever had bigger problems with drugs or alcohol? A: Nothing that I'm proud of. You know, I like to drink and every now and then, I like to smoke something. But I don't take cocaine or anything like that. Q: Do you still like to get naked on stage? A: No, I haven't done that in a long time. Q: What did you do it for? For the girls in the audience? A: No, I think I was more of an exhibitionist. I wanted to shock people somehow and I would have done everything for a laugh, as a joke. I certainly never thought it would be sexually arousing to see myself naked onstage. Q: Isn't your wife jealous when she sits at home with the kids and you play shows where there are probably groupies and stuff like that? A: No, because she knows what sort of person I am. I don't like this rockstar shit. I don't need groupies or people who kiss my ass. Meaningless sex means nothing to me. That kind of anwers the question I guess, amongst other things.5 points

That's great! Only difference since then is I think he's now discovered he can be a bit sexy on stage sometimes and embraced it (even if still usually in a tongue in cheek way). Which is no bad thing I think I remember him saying he once stripped off naked during a swimming class when he was 10, and his older brother has said when he was a kid he liked to show his bum a lot, lol. So yeah I think he was born that way . I've always liked this Dookie era quote as well: We're a rock and roll band. We're extroverted and exhibitionist. We're not shoe gazers, no way. We're demented. Up on stage, I'm gonna take my fuckin' clothes off and wiggle my little dick at everybody. I'm gonna be totally obnoxious and rude and spit in the eye of every fucking heavy grunge band that ever came out.4 points

Macy's Day Parade is really under appreciated. I love that song! And coming to top 3 or even top 4, its a hard choice to make.4 points

I know, I'm fucking awesome. Fuck, that doesn't work now that I've changed my username.3 points

I'm sorry but it contains the word 'retarded' and that is seriously one of the worst words you can say.3 points

Oh yeah, forgot about that. That works too. I'm happy with his pants on, but the shirt can come off. Thanks for the visual.2 points

Billie Joe is #16 on the list for Kerrang! Magazine's 50 Greatest Rockstars in the World1 point
-
Sure, technically he's kind of shit (though I think he's far better than people give him credit for), but his delivery is second to none, and that's what counts for me. The sneer in his voice on the original just blows Billie's attempt away. And as I said earlier, the instrumentation is just far more interesting when it's not buried under guitar.1 point

If anyone wants to hear what a great performer Dylan is, listen to the album of standards he just released. One Enchanted Evening is awful on its own, but with Dylan singing it, it is even worse.1 point

Misery completely messes up Warning's flow. Not to say it's a bad song (even though I don't enjoy it), but it's in a terrible spot.1 point

Dos is my favorite of the trilogy, too. And I love Nightlife.1 point

But he kept his clothes on, and was hotter than ever! Those arms he had then probably helped a ton.1 point

... and then American Idiot happened, and you became really, really hot again. Yes you do! I will be your groupie, and you will like it, goddammit.1 point

Hmm, I suppose this would be unpopular... Dos is my favorite album of the trilogy. #Dirty1 point

I was saying I thought my son was too young in 2009 to see GD - 4 years on he was old enough for anything that was happening on stage.1 point

Shepherd's Bush was late to start (Tre started the concert) then billie made it on stage - they said it was technical issues (we probs will never know). As for his other antics - they are the reason I didn't take my son in 2009 as I thought he was too young to witness what billie may throw out to the crowd. I made him wait until last year when he was old enough - but he got a clean sober and happy billie on stage1 point

it's pretty common in the vernacular over here, not as often seen as a slur Also all of this talk about splitting up JOS is truly blasphemous, because JOS is ONE piece of incredible music that needs all 5 parts to be what it is.1 point

that's the point, I like Green Day's whole catalogue but the old school records are my favorites. as I said above i really don't like to rank songs because I'm a die hard fan for almost 20 years, the band is part of my life.. it's hard to say one song is better than another when you have so much personal attachment with all of them1 point

Whoa, not sure what to say about that. That has floored me more than Cigarettes and Valentines was not a real song.1 point

To be fair the embarrassment of iHeart could have been avoided if whoever was doing the sound had done their damn job. It was immediately obvious he was losing his shit, all they had to do was cut his mic and the entire rant could have been avoided. Whichever way you slice it someone must have known they could have put a stop to it but instead they went ahead and allowed it to become a spectacle.1 point

It kind of sounds like Billie is just repeatedly sneezing in Platypus. "'Cause achoo, 'cause achoo, 'cause achoo!"1 point

Their cover of A Quick One is also better than the original. The increased energy level works very well. I thought the original tended to drag in spots, where GD's version moves from beginning to end.1 point

On that note, I actually think their cover of Working Class Hero is actually better than Lennon's original. The more powerful instrumentation I think lends itself better to the message than the original, which to me is just kind of quiet and plodding.1 point
