  2. That's just really fucking weak. Blaming Green Day for someone's DUI would be like blaming Marilyn Manson for Columbine. Oh, wait. Speaking of Walking Contradiction, I love it. Not even so much the overall sound, but the lyrics are easily some of the cleverest Billie has ever written.

  3. Here's the answer that I posted in the thread about the vinyl: So that's why it's in the song title, don't know what the phrase actually means (if anything) though.

  4. I applaud your dedication to improving the GD viewing experience, but still no. Why would you want to take one of the best frontmen and songwriters, in rock today and push him to the side? I need Billie doing more than just standing around looking pretty.

  6. I wasn't trying to say Nimrod had better lyrics than their other albums. Of course, there are fantastic lyrics in American Idiot and in almost all of their albums too. I was just mentioning the fact that it has some of my personal favorite lyrics. I really love the cleverness and sense of humor featured in that album.

  7. I especially like that last part. And Nimrod has Scattered. One of my all time favorites. And Redundant.

  8. Can I take a moment to appreciate Nimrod? I love that they progressed with this album and experimented with different sounds but still maintained that raw and gritty attitude in their tracks. It also has some of the best lyrics Billie's ever written. "Come together like a foot in a shoe, only this time I think I stuck my foot in my mouth." - one of my personal favorites.

  11. It makes me feel better to believe that he's rhyming time with thyme and the whole thing is actually about a shopping list.

  12. Not yet, I'm sure it'll be posted about in the thread for it/in some prominent place when there is though.

  14. I think the Mother Mary video is one of the best they've ever done. I love the bizarre camera angles. You can actually see the hair on his hands.

  16. It's hard to pick my favourite song on Insomniac, but Walking Contradiction is definitely a contender.

  17. It wasn't pulled after the DUI, that Q&A was after the DUI but the song was pulled in 2002 and he got the DUI in 2003. Since the band had happily both recorded it and planned to release it (and they're likely not silly enough to actually think that listening to that song would cause someone to drink drive) I'd assume that like Tim said it was only pulled due to fear of the possibility of a lawsuit from some fool trying to palm responsibility for their own actions off on the band. Whether that was instigated by the band themselves or someone at the label or whatever I don't know but since it was so close to being on there it's even in the artwork I'd guess the latter. Anyone else remember when the only good quality version of the song that was available had insults directed at the person who ran greenday.net recorded over the top of the beginning and end of it as some sort of revenge against him by the person who'd put out the recording for unknown reasons? You had to choose between that and one of dreadful quality.

  19. Sometimes I have random moments, whether it's when I'm blasting Green Day in the car or watching their sets on YouTube, where I get this overwhelming feeling of happiness and I can't help but smile. This band's music has brought joy to my life for about 10+ years now and I'm so thankful for that. It's crazy to think that they were the first band I absolutely fell in love with back when I was going into middle school. Of course I went through times when I obsessed over other bands too but those were phases that came and went. Being a Green Day fan wasn't just a phase for me; they still managed to keep me happy after all these years. Now that i'm 21, I have even more appreciation for their music and the guys themselves. Even though I may not be a huge fan of their newer stuff, I'll always love and respect them no matter what and I can't wait to find out what else they have in store for us. Anyway, that's enough of my sappy thoughts for now I just spent the last hour jamming out to 1039 Smooth in the car, and it made me in a good mood, hence this post. Hehe. Also, I just want to say all of you on this forum are the best! I know I don't post often but I do know for certain that all of you are lovely people. <3
