Macy's Day Parade just came on and oh my God I need to take deep breaths. I've never listened to it this loud before and I've been missing out all my life.
I really like the lyrics of See The Light. Green Day posted all the album's lyrics online a few weeks before it came out and it was one of the ones I was looking forward to the most because of them, so it was kind of disappointing that it was one of the weakest songs musically when I heard it. But it's OK, and lyrically I think it's the perfect note to end the album on, and I like how the music that introduced the album is repeated at the end too.
And a live version of Homecoming just came on and I involuntarily started clapping after the intro. Seriously, I didn't even think about it, it just happened. That song is absolutely phenomenal.
They have a 21st Century Breakdown Tour Program up on GD.com, does anybody know what's in it? http://greenday.shop.bravadousa.com/Dept.aspx?cp=16464_39261&sort&page=0
I like starting the album with it. I think he sounds beautiful on it and is a great into to 21st Century Breakdown. It probably would have been easier just to consider them one song, but they didn't. It kind of reminds me of the into to Letterbomb.
You could actually be doing it right very often, it just a tiny differentiation between us when it comes to, er, status updates.
Not to make this a spammy post, here's an unpopular opinion (maybe).
I like the trashy/shitty sound of the first two albums. The poor sound quality just gives them... character.
I think people whose work is based on subjective creativity are often their own worst critics. It's like a delicate balance of egotism and insecurity. I absolutely hate 90 percent of my stories just because I'm so hard on myself. Only once in a while do I actually think "damn, this is fucking good," and even then I'm still insecure about it. And my work is hardly as creative as writing and performing songs like a band does.
I don't believe that's been confirmed.
I used to consider Ashley one of the worst but I appreciate it more now, it's a really catchy, bouncy tune and the lyrics "You used to dangle my heart with your puppet strings/You dangled your desires right in front of my face/You led me to the well but wouldn't let me drink/Swallowing my pride I never even got the taste" are just great. The Demolicious version is especially good, it's dirty.
I'm proud to say the original version of Good Riddance (b-side to Brain Stew/Jaded) is far superior to the Nimrod version. The latter sounds cheesy and too upbeat for what it's trying to say (didn't Billie write it about a break-up or someshit?). It was a wise decision to not end the album with that track; Prosthetic Head, one of their best songs to this day, gets the job done perfectly.
I think that's enough said about the song. Even though the words wild and one are constantly repeated in the song, people still don't know which song we're talking about. Reveals something very telling about its memorability.
