  1. It's a shame that Horseshoes and Handgrenades is never played live.

  2. Don't think that ever happened. You put it to words perfectly!

  3. I think people whose work is based on subjective creativity are often their own worst critics. It's like a delicate balance of egotism and insecurity. I absolutely hate 90 percent of my stories just because I'm so hard on myself. Only once in a while do I actually think "damn, this is fucking good," and even then I'm still insecure about it. And my work is hardly as creative as writing and performing songs like a band does. I don't believe that's been confirmed.

  5. Before The Lobotomy is definitely fantastic - in fact, I shouldn't really say high points, as they're almost all at the same standard of excellence. And it was my first too, and you're right, it was absolutely incredible.

  7. I agree! I remember when 21st CB first came out I (along with a lot of people here) was really hoping it'd be one of the songs they'd play. And in one of the early interviews about the album they were asked which song was most fun to play live and Tre said Horseshoes and Handgrenades! But Billie looked at him surprised and was like "Really?!". So I blame him

  8. For quite a while I didn't really like the sound of the Lookout albums, but then one day I just thought "wait a minute, this is great".

  9. I would agree with you except that I don't like Kerplunk's guitar tone at all.

  10. I too am a fan of the raw sound. Not the try-hard raw sound of the trilogy, but the genuine stuff. Listening to those first two albums, unpolished, is wonderful.

  11. You could actually be doing it right very often, it just a tiny differentiation between us when it comes to, er, status updates. Not to make this a spammy post, here's an unpopular opinion (maybe). I like the trashy/shitty sound of the first two albums. The poor sound quality just gives them... character.

  12. OK, I love H & H too. I am really disappointed that Billie doesn't. He did write the damn thing

  14. Before the lobotomy is my favourite - 21cb tour was my first gd tour - I would like them to capture everything about it - the pyro the energy the anger it was friggin incredible.

  15. If we're judging it by Jaded in Chicago, Billie found Heisenberg.

  16. I remember Billie in Guitar World saying Butch made him save the song

  17. Seriously. I don't know why they've never played it, considering it seems to be one of Tre's favorites.

  19. i first heard that song at 14, and now at 21 I can still relate to it. I feel as though, despite the song title, it should be considered one of the many "timeless" green day songs, as it can apply to pretty much anyone at any age.

  20. Yes! I know the guys have a really great 'normal' set-list they do, but I would love to see big changes to it in future shows. All the big hits, sure. But it's time to change it up. I would even be happy if it stayed basically the same, but there were two to three spots where they play crazy random songs that have never/almost never been played live. And of course Dos and Tre are in major need of live debuts...

  21. And a live version of Homecoming just came on and I involuntarily started clapping after the intro. Seriously, I didn't even think about it, it just happened. That song is absolutely phenomenal.

  22. I completely forgot how much I enjoy Green Day's cover of Husker Dü's "Don't Want to Know If You Are Lonely" (found as a b-side to the Warning single). It sounds like a live take (and considering there is a video of them performing it, it could be one), and yet the instruments and vocals are perfectly mixed. Green Day's next album, whenever it may be, should experiment with that lo-fi live sound and Nimrod/Warning songwriting. I'd be a very happy boy. Sorry, wrong thread. Meant to put this in random Green Day thoughts. I don't know if there's a way I can remove the post, or if I'd have to get it moved or something.

  23. If Jaded in Chicago is any indication, I think Billie had the better one
