  1. Eh, I'm withholding judgement until I hear it. You never know, they could blow us away. Anyway, I more interested in new live shows.

  2. My interpretation of it is that it's mostly babble.

  4. The Arab Spring was a series of demonstrations and civil wars in various Arab countries that began in 2010. So, I always interpreted that line ot mean something like an innocent that ends up getting hurt in a situation. It seems to fit the song.

  5. I raised the pitch of all of Kerplunk a half step (so I can play along in standard tuning) and I think some of the songs actually sound better. Specifically 2000 LYA and Christie Road.

  6. Glad you enjoy it, there will be more from that era. I need to pick a particular rare magazine from a month later.

  7. I've just finished reading a book called 'We Are All Completely Besides Ourselves' by Karen Joy Fowler. During one scene in the book, the characters are drinking in a bar in 1996: 'Green Day's Basket Case pounded from the speakers' Totally didn't expect it and it made my day.

  8. A book of poetry by Aaron Cometbus called Last Supper was published recently and I got it for Christmas. On the last page of the book there's a little note about Aaron that mentions among other things that he "...earned a gold record playing his teeth as a musical instrument." That was on Knowledge on 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours.

  9. Reading this interview was great. Billie Joe talks about his drinking problems and masturbating 3 times in an hour. So classic Billie Joe.

  10. CBGB: 10 Classic Moments That Helped Define the Birthplace of Punk 6. Green Day “Longview” (2000) What’s bigger than Green Day playing their debut single “Longview” at CBGB, is the fact that apparently they weren’t scheduled to perform that night. “When all else fails, pull out the hits,” Billie Joe joked. And a hit it was. The song that describes intense boredom peaked at No. 1 on the June 11, 1994 Alternative Songs chart. http://www.billboard.com/articles/6414266/cbgb-10-classic-moments

  11. I was 12 at the time, so perhaps it would've been risky, but I can now - I survived the Brixton mosh pit, and that was Dookie.

  12. Me too and I can;t believe they played American Eulogy, was my favourite song at the time. I'm sure you would have survived the mosh pits, I'm 5"6 and puny as anything and survived a Jesus Of Suburbia mosh pit.

  16. If I find another copy of any of these and if my financial situation remains as favorable as it's recently been, I just might have a nice Japanese person send a little printed material parcel to Argentina. You're not being annoying at all, in fact, when I asked that question, both here and on tumblr, I expected answers, so yay. I'll have these scanned by a professional the moment my salary has cleared, as the last magazine is basically a book - 200 pages of nothing but Green Day. Some previews, especially for you. The other magazine, the one Ham Sascale also asked about, has Green Day on cover and there's a ten-page article. Five of those pages are images - two centerspreads of the band and one pinup of Billie with a guitar. I might be able to scan that one at home, at least I could get the cover done.
