I love SDV, but only the Demolicious version! It packs so much punch, especially when compared to the flat version on Tré.2 points

OK, so Dave said nothing about Green Day And I ignore everything that Oasis says about Green Day, so I am now completely uninterested1 point
-
The article is confusing, but it is not Dave Grohl that is saying Green Day (and the Foo Fighters and Radiohead) should play Oasis songs, its Noel Gallagher. Noel is saying that they should play Oasis songs because it will make for a better show. I had to read it a few times to get that.1 point

too lazy to do the tags anymore so here "I Wanna Be Billie Joe - Wat Tyler" Hilarious album. I used to know a local band that sounded just like it, so even though it sounds like garbage to most people, it's supposed to be dicking around.1 point

It's an unwritten rule around here, but most of us just ignore Dookie Lukie. It's hard to tell when he's being serious1 point

So, I just found something - a collage-comic I made in May 1998. It's about Billie and me fighting monsters in Egypt, where we arrived at Boris Yeltsin's call for Albanian intellectuals. It makes sense.1 point

I think Nimrod is great as an album. The variety of different sounding songs pulling you in different directions is part of its charm, but I don't think it's totally incohesive. As well as the general "Green Day sound", there's a subtle kind of retro/surfy sound running through it that makes things feel connected, cemented particularly well by Last Ride In giving you a tongue in cheek relaxing surfy interval in the middle of the energetic twists and turns of the other songs. There's other little things about the structure that make the songs better as an album than individually as well, for example the contrast between Last Ride In and Jinx, Jinx and Haushinka running together almost like one song, the delightfulness of going from Take Back to King For A Day to Good Riddance, probably their three most different sounding/surprising songs so far at that point back to back, and the deliberate move of almost but not quite going for the obvious choice of making a slow ballad called Good Riddance the last song. Unlike Shenanigans which is a pretty much random collection of b-sides where I wouldn't particularly care what order they were in, Nimrod feels like a thoughtfully structured album to me, with the wide variety of the songs working as part of the structure.1 point

If we're going to talk about repetition actually being good then hello Uptight. It's clearly one of their best songs and there's no denying that structure is just bizarre.1 point

This is from the "Green Day Special Book" that was included with the March 2010 issue of Crossbeat.1 point

I don't believe in God and I don't believe in Nimjim either so it makes perfect sense to me1 point

You're welcome. Sadly, those Spin pictures are among rare things I got from Google books, though I plan to get the actual magazine at some point. Anyway, the eight Japanese magazines/books I got off eBay some two weeks ago just arrived. If anybody would like to see any of these before others and knows there's something interesting inside (such as specific pictures, some setlist, well, anything), just ask and I'll make a priority scan list.1 point

Everything Akshat Jain says is relevant, it's just that we on a lower plain of existence than him can't always see it.1 point

I've taken to mentally categorizing albums by ideal time to listen to them (the things I do instead of actually focusing on my schoolwork...). For Green Day, here's what I got: Spring: 39/Smooth, Kerplunk, Uno Midsummer: Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod Late Summer/Autumn: Warning, Stop Drop and Roll, Dos Late Autumn/Winter: American Idiot, 21st Century Breakdown, Tre There really isn't ever an ideal time to listen to Dos, but I had to put it somewhere.1 point

The perks of being in the Golden State...lols I have a weird love for Panic Song, many don't care for it and say the the intro is too long and boring, but I enjoy every second of it.1 point

After I watch a ton of Green Day interviews,(i'm talking hours) y'know becomes part of my vocabulary for at least a week.1 point

I was in a charity shop yesterday, and it was one of the most disappointing shops I've ever seen - two boxes of Kerplunk (the game, not the album), a big pink bunny, a game called Burnout, but no Green Day. What a letdown.1 point
-
True, played down the phone I believe . They do have that dirty Christmas album they recorded while making American Idiot tucked away somewhere though, maybe there's some acoustic tracks on there haha. Speaking of albums Green Day should make, I still think they should make an album of Beatles covers. Billie's voice would sound so good singing Beatles songs and I will forever wish for this.1 point

BBC radio 1 sessions is one of my favourite things GD have done - it pissing me off though when zane Lowe congratulates them saying best thing they have done then in the next breath basically says he has just got the disc1 point
