  1. They do affect your past. She preferred to be called Sarah so she should be referred to Sarah, even before that became her name.

  2. That's fine, it's best not to try and just pretend it doesn't exist.

  3. Haushinka teases with repetitiveness but once it gets to that punchy, emotional bridge, it's fucking wonderful and everything feels cohesive by the end. That's definitely one of my top Green Day songs ever.

  4. I've been listening to a lot of Pinhead lately- one of my favorite parts of being a Green Day lifer is the privilege of randomly dusting off the "old stuff" and listening to it like it's new again. I hadn't listened to Pinhead in years and right now it's a solid 75% of what I listen to. One of my biggest regrets in life was meeting Jason and having a good five minute conversation with him (incredible guy and incredibly gracious for him spending the time to just chat about music)- and not mentioning or complimenting his on his work with Pinhead once. Not a terrible "worst regret" I know, but I wish I could have let him know how much I treasure the Pinhead catalogue. What an incredible catalogue Pinhead compiled in such a short period of time, and as a side band nonetheless.

  5. I'm new here and have a question. Hopefully this the right place to ask. What do the words on Billie ' s upper chest tattoo say? Ps. Yes I just realized I spelled extraordinary wrong in my username. Oops.

  6. That makes sense really. I'm all for being a completist but I don't understand the appeal of "here, have an album of songs that weren't good enough to go on an album." But then I guess they did that with Dos, so...

  7. Haushinka and All the Time are actually in my top twenty Green Day songs. Haushinka might even crack the top ten. It's one of their best songs for guitar and drums, and the melody and emotion are *so* good.

  8. If we're going to talk about repetition actually being good then hello Uptight. It's clearly one of their best songs and there's no denying that structure is just bizarre.

  9. Pinhead Gunpowder are my favourite band no questions asked. Cometbus writes amazing lyrics. He is an awesome writer anyway so naturally this applies to his bands too but add Billie singing and playing guitar (yes and Jason, Sarah and Bill) and it really does become something of a supergroup. I'm always hoping that when Billie is in NYC he and Aaron might jam on some new material or even (shock of horrors) plan one of those once in a million years shows back in the east bay.

  13. Oh no no no no, that wasn't at all what I was doing, I was just emphasizing my own so. I didn't even notice your use of it. Please don't take that as mockery, because that was the absolute furthest thing from my mind.

  16. Most of Nimrod is just mediocre for GD standards, in my opinion. Walking Alone, Haushinka, Reject, Scattered, King For A Day, Uptight, Worry Rock, and Prosthetic Head are all decent songs but I feel GD has much better. For me, the only songs on Nimrod that stand out are Good Riddance, The Grouch, and Hitchin A Ride. And even then The Grouch and Hitchin A Ride aren't so incredible that it makes up for Jinx, Take Back, Nice Guys Finish Last, Platypus, and All the Time. Compare that to Warning (which I prefer). Macy's Day Parade, Castaway, Minority, and Church On Sunday are a big four that really display GD's range of abilities. Misery is a work of art in it's own right. Even the "weaker" links have positives. Warning (song) has some very good lyrics, Hold On has some nice harmonica action. Songs like Jackass, Deadbeat Holiday, and Blood Sex and Booze are great adds to the catalog as well. Jackass has a wicked bite lyrically and the melodies on the latter two songs are fantastic. Obviously this is all subjective, but I think that Nimrod doesn't make up for lack of cohesiveness with stand out tracks where I believe Warning is slightly more cohesive and better displays the talents of GD.

  17. Oof, I don't know, man. Holiday has the killer riff, an actual bassline from Mike, insanely good lyrics, and is without a doubt the most fervent song on the album politically. It's not my fave song on AI by any means, but every time I relisten to it I'm reminded just how strong it is.

  18. I can understand that—a lot of my favorite albums are very cohesive (AI, obviously, Who's Next, Exile on Main St., The Times They Are a-Changin', etc.). I guess I've just never been bothered by loads of styles either. Hmm, I think that's beaten by JOS, Holiday, BOBD.

  19. You're welcome. Sadly, those Spin pictures are among rare things I got from Google books, though I plan to get the actual magazine at some point. Anyway, the eight Japanese magazines/books I got off eBay some two weeks ago just arrived. If anybody would like to see any of these before others and knows there's something interesting inside (such as specific pictures, some setlist, well, anything), just ask and I'll make a priority scan list.

  22. Do you think if I went to a GD concert Billie Joe would choose me to go up on stage if I held up a sign saying "I'll make you feel tall"?

  23. Foreverly was great. I Run NY was ok. Avicii hasn't even been released yet. Miranda Lambert was an award show performance for 2 minutes. Joan Jett was a charity performance. You're acting like they are pumping out material or something.
