  6. well yes, i think it's granted that any compilation of this type will never be as good as a full-fledged album. there might not be many/any "stand outs" but there are a fair few songs i like a lot and would listen to over many other gd songs (suffocate, desensitized, i want to be on tv, scumbag, sick of me, do da da, haha you're dead). i understand why people don't talk about it much, but i still think it's underrated just based on the songs. i'd say a lot of them are pretty on-par with nimrod in terms of their sound/feel (obviously, since most of them were written around that time) and since nimrod is a generally well-loved album you'd think people would appreciate the songs more.

  7. What the hell, I never knew that Dookie version of 409 existed. It's like hearing a new song.

  8. I agree that it bothers me a bit that they borrowed that melody, but on the other hand, the best part of it that comes in the end is original. And after all, they gave Cooke a credit, so there's nothing morally wrong with it. Besides, the build-up is amazingly well done. All in all, it is one of the best songs on the Trilogy.

  10. What's not to like? The lyrics are fantastic, the solo is rocket-fueled, the pounding of the drums after each verse is like an assault, the video is probably the best they've ever done. Definitely in my top three GD songs.

  12. http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/94653-409-in-your-coffeemaker-unmixed/ I found it a few days ago, and I wish I found it sooner - that's one of my favourite songs.

  13. The 2009 tour when they did actual explosions for the gunshots during the breakdown was the best use of pyro I've seen at a gig.

  14. I honestly think Nuclear Family and Stay The Night is the best two song opener apart from Dookie.

  15. God, as I never listen to Dos I'd forgotten just how heinous that was. *runs to take a shower*

  16. I think it's silly to assume they can't produce brilliant music again just because the Trilogy was a failure, I'm actually really eager to see what direction they take next, and see if they can commercially redeem themselves.

  17. I consider Walking Alone one of the best songs on Nimrod

  18. I think one of Green Day's greatest qualities is taking darker subject-matter and putting it in a song that sounds almost joyful. Like smiling and flipping someone off at the same time. They've done it marvelously their whole careers.

  19. Yeah that's a good point too. Given how much of a toll long term touring took on Billie I think it's totally understandable they're having a year off, whatever the reason. I'd be surprised if he wasn't writing songs though, so maybe we might get an album sooner than expected as a result.

  20. Their IG teased us a little bit, but nothing too great. This is the biggest tease I've ever seen though. Not even Green Day is this cruel Cleft Pirate could be a new or unreleased album
