  1. Here's one for everybody: I think Stuart and the Ave is one of Green Day's best songs. It always seems to slip through the cracks in terms of recognition but I think it's fantastic. The lyrics are clever and the song does a really good job of conveying the rage and anger that Insomniac is known for.

  3. Green Day names an album in tribute to an idea fans came up with on GDC and people aren't happy about it now?! What is the world coming to? Like really, at one show some fans held up signs that said "thank you" during Good Riddance, and someone here posted that at the next show people should hold up signs that said "awesome as fuck" instead, and a plan was formed. People did it (I think Abby and Beth made them and they and a whole bunch of people in the pit held them up), and the band was so pleased they tweeted about it....and then named the album from the tour after it! I don't know how it could be more appropriate, their shows are all about having fun and not taking themselves too seriously, and involving the fans in the crowd and not putting themselves above them. The title of the album flawlessly encapsulates that while referring to an incident that happened during the tour it was recorded on. It's perfect! As well as what I posted above about the reason for the title, I don't think the phrase itself is meant to be about not giving a fuck or to be shocking at all, it's just a way of saying the tour was "really awesome" (meant in a totally tongue in cheek way).

  4. The more i listen to demolicious the more i think songs from the trilogy could have been made into the 4th or 5th best green day album ever if they got the sound and production right. Maybe that's not so unpopular because several people think demolicious compares well with insomniac, kerplunk, and nimrod as a demo.

  5. My favourite moment of Billie forgetting lyrics is from the Fritz Radio show where some guy called David requested The Grouch and the second verse was "The wife's a nag and the kid's fucking up, David comes and I don't know the words..."

  6. I prefer the good riddance Insomniac version over the Nimrod version...

  7. I'm not afraid to admit I'm that shallow. I mean, LOOK at AI era Billie, jfc. Although AAF has a better setlist, I feel like the sound quality on the CD is shit, so I find myself enjoying BIAB more by default. Um, what? Does not compute. I'm pretty sure "fuck" is gender-neutral...

  8. I think the weight was simply apart of it. They looked old and uninspired. When AI came around they were a completely different band in the eyes of the public. The weight loss, eye liner, hair dye, black wardrobe, and stage presence were all equally apart of the rebirth of GD. Of course that has nothing to do with the quality of the music, but I can guarantee that the public IS that shallow

  10. Agreed, best song on Insomniac. I'd kill to see it live once.

  11. It actually isn't even in the Downloads section; file was deleted. I had to PM you asking you to send it to me directly. And poor Mike remembers the whole thing and never gets to play his awesome bassline.

  12. Goat Island? I see you haven't ventured very far into the downloads section . I love the brightness and the atmosphere of Goat Island, the venue is one of a kind. And that one was from 1998. He probably remembers less and less every year. If you asked him right now to play it, he'd probably say "Stuart and the Ave? Who's that by?"

  13. In which case I'm sincerely looking forward to the next live DVD after Ceadog's "Jeff Matika Fondles Pigeons" sign at Brixton.

  14. They chose to announce Awesome as F**k right when I was trying to convince my parents that the band wasn't immature and gratuitously profane. Well played, Green Day, well played.

  15. I agree with that. The BIAB DVD is massively superior but the AAF CD is way better, and given that I listen to audio more than I watch videos I have to say AAF is better.

  16. In your defense, plenty of other Trilogy lyrics are just like that one.

  18. I think I've seen almost every song off the Trilogy being listed here as someone's favourite or being at least liked by someone else. What if they released 18 songs instead of 37? Don't you think that we would have missed something? Judging by GDC members' taste, yes. 37 is better than 18, man

  19. Nah, he'd just finished Longviewing to Thomas The Tank Engine.

  20. I think the BIAB DVD is the best DVD by miles and the AAF CD is the best CD by miles. I still think it's fitting since having some silly fun and not taking themselves too seriously is such a big part of Green Day's shows as well as the band in general.

  24. If only Billie could not fuck it up for once I don't blame him though, I always seem to fuck it up too, probably because I've listened to that acoustic version too many times.

  29. I didn't mean that Warning was a bad album because Billie was chubby. But I am sure that if a band releases an unsuccessfull album and changes image so that most of the members look scruffy, it doesn't make a good impression. When they released American Idiot and changed their image again nobody had doubt there weren't problems in the band anymore. It is not an important thing, but it's something people see - even the people who aren't interested in the band. And it makes a certain impression. I think it should make as good impression as possible.

  30. Yes, losing weight may be a positive thing but one's weight has nothing to do with one's music. Its damn shallow to think so. Also, he wasn't even fat really. Only a bit chubby, probably not even over-weight at all.

  31. The letters they requested fans send in in support of Billie during his rehab. I remember seeing a few published - don't actually know many they received and/or published though.

  32. That'd be a pretty solid album for me. They'd have a much better pick of singles from there Sure, everyone can pick their own favourite songs and make a playlist. That's the point. But if that had been the tracklist, I'd never have listened to Brutal Love, Lazy Bones, Fuck Time and many others; it would have been kinda disappointing. I'm so much happier with what we actually have

  33. No, people rode horses and fought with bears whilst drunk and naked. Oh, the good old days when men were men and bears were bears and Green Day made songs about other topics than Makeout Parties.

  34. I was listening to No Pride the other day and never realized how amazing it is. The lyrics are incredibly written, and the way some of the lines ironically contradict each other is great. I think it is in their top 5 best songs tbh.

  39. When I was driving home a few weeks ago I passed a street called Longview Avenue in Ohio... not only did I squeal, but I'm pretty sure I nearly got rear-ended by the car behind me when I slammed on my brakes to double-check it was really called that... Good thing I was alone. This is probably why people say I'm a bad driver.
