  2. Well it's simplistic but absolutely solid. The drumming is absolute perfection, I just love the rhythm and groove of it, and I really like how it's really busy but also appears sparse at the same time since it's just kick, snare and cymbals. I like the syncopation between the two acoustic guitars, the slide guitar gives it a really interesting, kind of Hawaiian feel, and the dynamic change when the distorted guitars kick in at the chorus is just awesome. I love the guitar solo too, it's quite simple but I just like ones that have that kind of melodic shape, starting low and just picking out the notes from the power chord then rising above the mix as it runs through the scale. It's very similar to 21 Guns in that respect, which I also really like.

  3. Given that the latter's exactly what I associate that with (insert rambling personal story here), I'll concede that you're completely right.

  4. (your Bible study) Really? Lyrically it's completely necessary, IMO; you need to show Jesus and Whatsername's relationship disintegrating before the final explosion that is Letterbomb. Honestly, even adding another song there would've been good; as is, they've met, dated and broken up in three songs, which is rather abrupt.

  5. How would Tre play the mellotron live, and the drums? Jason Freese would play the keyboard live as an alternative if they actually had a Mellotron on the studio version

  7. Just hearing it now, I thought it was just the cymbals it's from about 0.48 onwards, mostly when the full band comes in. Lazy bones is probably one of my favourite songs from the trilogy. It would be amazing acoustic, just with Billie singing but I doubt it'd happen

  12. Basket Case and WICA are a HUGE part of Green Day's legacy. To a lot of fans they ARE the only legacy. Both those songs (mostly Basket Case) are considered some of the top rock songs of all time and both still get TONS of radio play.

  15. Don't feel bad, I can't even recall the chorus to BOBD, and I've been trying to all day . I'm gonna have to google the lyrics

  16. I never claimed they looked the same. They're still both pitched percussion instruments that use mallets to produce the sound, and they have identical key layouts.

  18. I think my ears are just broken. I can't hear the tambourine in Lazy Bones that people always talk about.

  19. When he sings the last chorus of BOBD he always sings the end of the word "beating" lower than on the album, like he takes the note lower. I think he's done it every time they've ever played the song live, he must wish he'd sung it that way on the album. My sister and I find this funny so when we attend Green Day shows we feel the need to look at each other in the crowd and laugh when he does it. This is a major reason as to why I'd rather they played BOBD than 21 Guns.
