that's not true, State of Shock really fits the album, and as it is a demo, it looks and sounds like a demo, don't forget, it's a demo, all demo sounds like a demo. cause they are DEMO!!5 points

State of Shock is better than most of the Trilogy. Bear in mind it is a demo, so it's not perfect, but there is definitely some potential there. Also, the Demolicious version of Baby Eyes blows the Dos version out of the water. It's remarkable how the bass at the beginning and the rough sound transforms the whole song.3 points

Ok.....here it goes..... I found myself singing along with Troublemaker when it came up on shuffle..... I enjoyed it too. Oh the shame.3 points

A+ bump! Never forget the one where this person was worried about Billie looking a little "pail" and someone from here proceeded to draw Billie looking "pail".3 points
-
Hmm, pretty sure it was because Billie dared them to throw it and deliberately encouraged a mud fight rather than because the crowd didn't like him!3 points
-
False. All the production wizardry in the world couldn't make me enjoy Troublemaker.2 points

State of shock has great lyrics and melody but musically it's so boring2 points

Sound quality has nothing to do with the lyrics of the music playing...2 points

I noticed that in Stop When The Red Lights Flash, "I'm not the hurting kind" sounds like "I'm not the herding kind". Now imagining a dog being asked what kind of dog it is and replying "I'm not the herding kind" when listening to that line.2 points

Private Ale is a great song, and it's a shame it was barely ever played live2 points

Bless you for bringing this back. Sadly it isn't the one with the girl who says "Yes sir!" when Billie says "You like that bitch?" in Bullet In A Bible. But plenty of gold!2 points

In short, the only good thing about State Of Shock is the line Billie didn't even write.1 point

Yes, it is. I challenge any of the bafflingly large number of people in this thread who seem to like the song to tell me what's objectively good about it. None of the ideas in the lyrics are anything that Billie hasn't covered before, after, and more eloquently, and none of the music is anything that they haven't done before, after, and more interestingly. The only part of the song that is at all interesting is the "we want to go to heaven, but no one wants to die" bit, but that isn't enough to save what is otherwise a completely uninspired, half-assed attempt at a song. Hate on Nightlife, or Troublemaker, or Drama Queen all you want, at least those songs all try something new, even if they don't necessarily make it work. State of Shock seems like someone said to Billie, "write the most by-the-numbers, bland Green Day song you possibly can."1 point

"Dookie Lukie has lame opinions". Is that an unpopular opinion?1 point

Naw State Of Shock really isn't that good demo or not it's ok but not a great song Agreed on Baby Eyes1 point

Can't believe I've never seen that in 7 years. It's crap (probably why it's not been discussed on GDC in all that time) but nothing to be bothered by, it's just a joke even if a poorly executed one.1 point

Sex, Drugs & Violence, imo, benefits most from Demolicious. The song is nearly terrible on Tré, but I can't stop jamming once those guitars are fixed. Same with 99 Revs... And Stay the Night... don't even get me started... HOW DARE YOU SAY IT'S BLAND.1 point
-
I prefer the Trilogy version of Rusty James but other than that every song on Demolicious is better. Missing You is fucking epic.1 point
-
I wouldn't say EVERY song is better. For example, I think the demo version of "Oh Love" was much worse than the original. I guess that's about it though. And State of Shock was just so boring. Not sure why they even bothered.1 point

How can they seriously put something like this online? Am I the only one who checks his sources before putting something on the internet?!1 point

Honestly I totally get where you're coming from. Minus Little Boy Named Train and Makeout Party (and to a lesser extent Carpe Diem and Let Yourself Go) I think its an awesome album. But I really really wish Wild One and 8th Avenue Serenade were on it too, especially Wild One cause its one of my absolute favorites from the trilogy and I think the raw sound would have sounded amazing. And even though I'm not a huge fan I would have loved to hear Dirty Rotten Bastards maybe broken up into parts or with the alternate lyrics from Cuatro. The only thing that I really wish was on there though was the original lyrics of Stray Heart when he says "Without a home" instead of "we're not alone". I loved that line so much better and I think it had a big impact on the song and its meaning. And while I think Let Yourself Go is a bland generic song I'm so fucking glad the Bridge is actually worthwhile on Demolicious, I actually really like the lyrics to it. Cause seriously what fucking excuse could Billie possibly have for the original bridge? I hate it. All in all though Demolicious made me appreciate and like the trilogy much more than I did, it just sounds like they had so much fun.1 point

That's also my favorite ... to the point where when I listen to the musical version, I freak out when it isn't Billie1 point

Green Day has covered them a bunch, their studio version of My Generation and A Quick One, and also playing The Kids Are Alright and Won't Get Fooled Again in full in 04 and 05, and also playing Baba o'Riley in their rock medleys in 09-10. They have a bunch of hits, just look up their discography on wikipedia, and give a listen to their top-charting singles. The 2012 summer olympics has the same emotional tie to me1 point

Mention of the band here: Fork in the road One-time East Bay punk crew commemorates 20 years Black Fork’s four speed-freaky contributions—which clock in at just under five minutes—were originally recorded with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong at Berkeley’s Catbox Studios when the four-piece was knee-deep in the legendary 924 Gilman Street scene that spawned bands like Blatz, Screw 32 and Operation Ivy. Between disintegrating tours, Black Fork recorded one more full-length with Armstrong, 1997’s Rock for Loot for Lookout! Records, before they checked out the following year. The band was snotty, smart and short-lived. And, listening today, still unsung. “I think some of those lyrics are more relevant today,” Josh says. “Health care sucks, and the country is still run by assholes.” Over the past few years the band—which also includes East Bay-based drummer Jim “Nastic” Anderson and bassist Cyrus “T Nails” Comiskey—has gotten together for a handful of one-off shows. Now they’re going for it—for five shows at least. The Indars just returned from a weekend of rehearsals in the Bay Area, where they also were interviewed for an upcoming documentary on Gilman (financed by Armstrong). Josh says the reason to do these shows is pretty simple. “We still love hanging out with those guys and playing. And I realize it’s still a really great punk band,” he says. “Plus, if we don’t get together and do it now, it may never happen.” http://www.newsreview.com/chico/fork-in-the-road/content?oid=138340321 point

The Who. Basically the greatest hard rock band ever to grace the face of the earth, as well as the first.1 point

So I know we often give the band a hard time for their by-the-numbers covers, but I honestly think their "Working Class Hero" is leaps and bounds better than the original.1 point

I'd argue it makes the songs even better. I do understand, in all seriousness--I often wish, particularly with film, that I could regain my analysis virginity and just simply enjoy the damn things.1 point

Uptight is one of their best songs ever, and certainly one of the best choruses. Why wouldn't they repeat it ad nauseum?1 point
