This thread is the best thing that ever happened to GDC.

It wasn't banned, it was "suggested" that stations didn't play it. The list was of songs the government felt "lyrically questionable", which is pretty laughable and pathetic. My guess is that Brain Stew was included because it seems like someone on the verge of a breakdown and they felt that was "questionable" considering what most people in the US were feeling at the time. But there's no way of knowing for sure why they included it. The list didn't seem really based on any objective reasoning.

I cannot understand how people use to say how Billie sounds like he was from England. He sounds fairly American to me.

Could anyone dislike it? It's fabulous. Seeing the Foxies do it made me like it even more, I thought it'd be the last song so I made a conscious effort to absorb and remember every moment of it to the best of my ability, now I just have to listen to that song to take me back to being at that show so it's, like, an amazing experience to listen to it.

Like I said, a matter of opinion. And anyway the original works better as a statement than as a song. It is too underdone as a song to really show oof all of its potential. And that is what Green Day did with their cover. While the original hits me still harder on a pure emotional level, the cover is musically more interesting. Thats the way to do covers anyway to make them feell like they were your own songs while still preserving the main elements that made the song special in the first place.

How much longer does this b& fest endure for? Just curious.
