So I'm not insane! Yeah, it's kind of like a nice little recording glitch to discover Ah, there you go - lol, just remembered a strange moment I had recently. I was at the Slam Dunk festival in the UK a couple of weeks ago and I was talking to Chris from Less Than Jake at one of the aftershow parties; at one point we got talking about Green Day. He knows they're my favourite band so he was like: "Here's an interesting story about Green Day that you might not know." And he started telling me that when LTJ recorded Anthem in the early 00's, they did it out in LA and Rob Cavallo wored with them extensively on it. It was also around the time of the Cigarettes and Valentines scandal, and he was like: "You know, there's this whole bullshit story going around about them "losing" the tapes for that album or whatever, or they were stolen, but that's not true. The album was total crap, Warner Bros. didn't want it. They told them to go back and make a proper album. That's what happened. So American Idiot wasn't this "happy accident". And you know, Rob Cavallo told me some pretty insane shit about Green Day that I could never share with anyone, ever. Like, crazy stuff. But I will tell you that one time, in like 2002 or something, we played a cricket ground in Manchester with them and we stole their tour bus." ....if anything, it gave me a laugh3 points

Well it's not going to be the same for everyone but it is actually a fact that tall people are more likely to have trouble with their knees than short people. If your knees are supporting more weight (whether because of height or size in general) then you're more likely to have trouble with them than if they're supporting less weight.2 points

Yeah same, I didn't ask though because I knew he wouldn't tell me. Especially because he was dead serious when he said it, which is unusual for him. I'm sure I'll find out some day though, I'll ask him when he's drunk It's funny though because Green Day is one of his favourite bands but he's always talking shit about the trilogy, haha. Those kinds of conversations are always surreal for me though, because it's like, I'm talking to one of my favourite musicians about my other favourite musicians2 points

Best Buy sells the first two albums (or they used to). That's where I picked them up when they were re-released on Reprise.2 points

What do you mean by that term despise!!!!.. here...... remember the great jump of this song on charts!!1 point

Yeah, I think I've heard that little people/people with dwarfism are prone to having bad joints. But that's not because they're short, it's because of their genetic condition which makes them both short and prone to bad joints. Generally speaking and other conditions aside, people on the tall side are more likely to have knee problems than people on the short side, simply because there's more weight on their knees. I doubt it's much of a factor in Billie and Mike's jumping though , they don't have super powered knees just because they're smallish. Apparently so1 point

i've never really understood all the hate on the wmuwse video. i mean, i don't LOVE it, but i've never seen any reason to dislike it. i've seen far worse music videos and at least it's entertaining. and the american idiot music video is literally perfect.1 point

The shops don't, the record label does. Because albums that get an explicit tag can't be sold in shops, so they potentially make less money. Just like a movie that's Rated R compared to a movie that's PG13. There are more restrictions on PG13 so more people can see it (under 18, not overly violent/gore etc.). The same is true with explicit tags. Record companies know that putting out an album that's marked explicit means that fewer places will carry it (including large places like WalMart) and some parents wouldn't buy it for their kids. So they put out another version that's censored to sell to them. Green Day was against that and instead chose not to sell 21CB in WalMart.1 point

Absolutely. As I said before, the first scene is pure vomit and the acting throughout the whole thing is......... Probably best not to say anything about it actually1 point

Idk. I don't have the original version to tell, so I can't compare them Oh shit, why'd I even bother to post if I can't answer your question? No1 point

In 2004 I saw the 2003 repress 1039 and a Kerplunk there, bought the 1039 and didn't see a Kerplunk in stores for a few more years.1 point

Walmart doesn't sell AI or 21CBD. I think I've seen 1039 there once or twice. I haven't been there recently enough to say about the trilogy.1 point

Nope, that's definitely not just you. The whole "I'm Sam Bayer" section of BIAB is self-indulgent twaddle.1 point

Was listening to a random playlist pretty loudly through my headphones and Going to Pasalacqua came on. I can't believe I only just noticed it, but there's a very faint "Here we go again" in the background right before he sings "Here we go again" at the start. I mean I guess you wouldn't hear it if you never listened to it at a much higher volume than normal, but still...can't believe I only realised it now!1 point

I like the WMUWSE video just fine, I just wish it hadn't given rise to so many misinterpretations as to the meaning of the song.1 point

I was thinking about this earlier actually, but I genuinely cannot think of a Green Day song that is worse than The Forgotten, in my opinion. Some people might say Nightlife, but I'd probably take that over The Forgotten any day.1 point

Great explanation! Still cool that they'd choose a badass female character as the metaphor though, it's still a good indication of their attitude towards women and the way they're portrayed in their songs even if it isn't literal.1 point

Small, tough and good for doing tricks. I don't see a problem with his choice of metaphor.1 point

She smashed the radio with the board of education Punk rock wasn't exactly radio-friendly when it first started. Turn up the static left of the state of the nation Before the skinheads showed up punk was primarily leftist. She's a rebel's forgotten son Punk was born out of a return-to-roots to rock music from the masturbation that is progressive, rock was considered "rebel" music for a while after it was born out of jazz. She is the first voice of the last ones in the line Punk wasn't made by or for the people in the upper classes, or "the first ones in line". Punk was very much the first time some people's voices were heard. She'll drag the lake to keep the vendetta alive To drag the lake means to attempt to find something you lost, as in how you'd drag a net across the bottom of a lake to find something important your dumbass dropped in there. Punk revival, bro, going strong in the underground since its father died. Bring in the head of the government The dog ate the document Somebody shot the President And no one knows where Maria went? "Real" punk died out pretty quickly, fockin new wave, man.... Maria, Maria, Maria, Where did you go? Where did punk go? Your breath lacks the conviction No more real punk. All these poseurs ain't got no conviction. x_X_tRuPuNx5eVr_X_x Drawing the line in the dirt And then suddenly... this is punk, this isn't punk, you're not a real punk if you like ______, etc. Shit's all metaphor, man. Maria's a personification.1 point

Tomomnom, how could you? You done fucked up, dear. Haha, YES, we danced to When It's Time at our wedding. Aside from despising a grand majority of 21CB (including Last Night on Earth, so dreary, despite being the "Green Day love song"), the lyrics of When It's Time actually are quite applicable to someone like me, who has an extremely hard time expressing emotion, even to those I care about most. I've always considered the song beautiful, and after seeing it in the musical for the first time, it touched me, I always knew it was what I wanted to dance to. Luckily I married someone who not only tolerates my Green Day obsession, but also embraces it, and agreed it would be a wonderful song. It turned out lovely, and we enjoyed that basically no one (except for Mar and Laura) knew what the song even was. Also, I adore Adie and Billie and I can only hope that someday we're old and graying and renewing our wedding vows after 20 years like they did this year. There's a video circulating somewhere on the Interwebz, but I can't be bothered to find it right now. My mom also recorded most of the reception, so I can eventually post the video somewhere on here.1 point

All of the songs on Insomniac have a pop song structure but yes it's a lot darker. It's actually my favourite album ....1 point
