Honestly, I think his lack of comprehension makes them even funnier. #passalackwah #neverforget4 points

So I'm not insane! Yeah, it's kind of like a nice little recording glitch to discover Ah, there you go - lol, just remembered a strange moment I had recently. I was at the Slam Dunk festival in the UK a couple of weeks ago and I was talking to Chris from Less Than Jake at one of the aftershow parties; at one point we got talking about Green Day. He knows they're my favourite band so he was like: "Here's an interesting story about Green Day that you might not know." And he started telling me that when LTJ recorded Anthem in the early 00's, they did it out in LA and Rob Cavallo wored with them extensively on it. It was also around the time of the Cigarettes and Valentines scandal, and he was like: "You know, there's this whole bullshit story going around about them "losing" the tapes for that album or whatever, or they were stolen, but that's not true. The album was total crap, Warner Bros. didn't want it. They told them to go back and make a proper album. That's what happened. So American Idiot wasn't this "happy accident". And you know, Rob Cavallo told me some pretty insane shit about Green Day that I could never share with anyone, ever. Like, crazy stuff. But I will tell you that one time, in like 2002 or something, we played a cricket ground in Manchester with them and we stole their tour bus." ....if anything, it gave me a laugh3 points

A little thread so people can have a place to share random thoughts that don't really fit anywhere else or warrant their own thread. I'll start. I watched Reading 2013 again tonight for some reason. It was just a suggested video on YouTube, so I put on my headphones and turned it up. God I loved it. Stop When The Red Lights Flash is amazing live. And Billie's vocals on Brutal Love, especially the high part on "Something for my troubled mind", it's just spot on. I watched that part over like 5 times. Watching them perform this mish-mash of songs from their entire career, then throwing in the entirety of Dookie in the middle of it at all, really just reminded me how great their music is. It's nice to be reminded from time to time that you can watch a 2 hour concert of theirs and just fall into the music. Start trying to analyze the songs and how you interpret them, or try to understand what Billie was thinking when he wrote them. There's not a lot of music out there that I really fall into like that. I like catchy tunes, songs that I sing along with and have good melody, but it's very rare for me to really admire a song enough to want to analyze it. So that was the past 2 hours watching this concert. I have all these random thoughts going through my head while watching. "Fuck they sound good." "It's amazing how much sound and energy can be brought on the stage by 3 guys who grew up together". "Fuck what am I doing with my life, I want to bring something positive like that to lots of people". "They need more fast songs like Stop When The Red Lights Flash, that should have been a single. They should have played it on Letterman. It would have been huge." And many many many more thoughts. So feel free to leave your random Green Day thoughts here and we'll see where this goes.1 point

Was listening to a random playlist pretty loudly through my headphones and Going to Pasalacqua came on. I can't believe I only just noticed it, but there's a very faint "Here we go again" in the background right before he sings "Here we go again" at the start. I mean I guess you wouldn't hear it if you never listened to it at a much higher volume than normal, but still...can't believe I only realised it now!1 point

The performance sections of the WMUWSE video are utterly fantastic, they're my favourite bit of any video ever. Well, maybe apart from the baby singing along to Just A Day by Feeder in the video for that. But the rest of the video is horrible. I get that Billie is all for songs being interpreted in as many ways as possible, but in a sense it just seemed like they were capitalising on the glamourisation of war imagery for the sake of exposure. Plus Sam Bayer directed it, and you'll never get a good word about him from me anyway.1 point

I don't see how Bowling For Soup could fail to nail it really. I can already hear it in my head and it's perfect. Beyond that, though, I might listen to have of each song then wish I hadn't bothered. I'm intrigued as to how Homecoming will turn out, though. And JOS too really, but I don't think I'll be interested in ruining that one for myself.1 point

I don't personally like modern pop punk at all, but maybe I should educate myself more. Anyway, I am never impressed about tribute albums like that. I fail to see their point. Anyway I probably will give it one listen. If I like it, fine, and if I don't, i don't have to listen to it again. Its nice anywsy that AI has achieved that kind of legacy that it's being covered as a whole.1 point

They're the only band I know, and I actually don't hate them. I feel like St. Jimmy might almost work for them. No clue who the rest of the "bands" performing on the album are, but I don't exactly have high hopes. If I don't hate it, I'll be impressed.1 point

5 Underrated Follow-Ups To Classic Albums: Pink Floyd, Green Day, and more 2. Green Day - Insomniac (1995) Green Day is one of the rare examples of an indie band that actually improved after signing to a major label, though many fans cite the band's major label debut Dookie as its last (or even only) great album. However, Green Day's 1995 follow-up Insomniac is just as good, despite the fact that it's often seen as an obvious step down. Though it's a valid criticism that Green Day didn't progress musically between the two albums, Insomniac is more streamlined and concise, not to mentioned that "Stuck With Me," "Geek Stink Breath," "86," and "Walking Contradiction" being among the band's best songs. http://www.musictimes.com/articles/6654/20140608/5-underrated-follow-ups-to-classic-albums-pink-floyd-green-day-and-more.htm1 point

She smashed the radio with the board of education Punk rock wasn't exactly radio-friendly when it first started. Turn up the static left of the state of the nation Before the skinheads showed up punk was primarily leftist. She's a rebel's forgotten son Punk was born out of a return-to-roots to rock music from the masturbation that is progressive, rock was considered "rebel" music for a while after it was born out of jazz. She is the first voice of the last ones in the line Punk wasn't made by or for the people in the upper classes, or "the first ones in line". Punk was very much the first time some people's voices were heard. She'll drag the lake to keep the vendetta alive To drag the lake means to attempt to find something you lost, as in how you'd drag a net across the bottom of a lake to find something important your dumbass dropped in there.
