  1. 21st Century Breakdown doesn't tell a story though. It uses personifications of ideas to talk about the post-Bush, full-swing War on Terrorism America.

  3. I've literally never seen it available on its own anywhere, therefore it doesn't exist.

  4. A lot of us got that impression but I'm pretty sure they just said that in terms of energy.

  5. Just a reminder to everyone that this always what it is! Just personal preference/opinion. Nobody is right or wrong, it just bugs me when people talk like their opinion is cold hard fact, not singling anyone out, I can even be a culprit of this at times.

  6. Wasn't that one of the main purposes of the trilogy? I'm pretty sure the phrase "different direction" was used quite a bit before it came out.

  7. Granted that is true but that is the whole meaning of dos - fucking up the life that is important to you. You may hate the direction they went it but it was different.

  8. Nice review. Another thing that bothered me about the album was the over-reliance on metaphor. It seems like every word Billie's singing is just a stand in or symbol for something else.

  9. Objectively their best work (as in the quality of the songwriting and production) or your favourite, cos there's a difference? The level of pedantry we employ in this thread is remarkable. Also, this thread is fab, do stay

  10. It showed some of the first signs that Billie actually knew there was a world around him worth writing about, at least.

  11. Cautiously venturing in here at Kay's behest. Warning is Green Day's best album.

  12. Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong shops in Temescal (Opinion) This past Thursday evening, Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong sang medleys at an acoustic benefit with Sammy Hagar, James Hetfield, and Joe Satriani. The next day, he browsed for plaids and vintage tees at Nick St. Mary’s Elder & Pine in Oakland’s Temescal. Things are changing faster than we can write about them. The most astonishing part about Armstrong’s surprise appearance at Elder & Pine during its one-year-anniversary kegger was the nonchalance of it. Not a single fan asked for an autograph. “He comes in all the time,” St. Mary said, passing slices of kale-and-mushroom pizza to customers. “It’s cool to have someone like that supporting us.” http://oaklandlocal.com/2014/05/greenday/ Billie Joe mentioned in a No-guns policies article Shannon Watts, the founder of Mom's Demand Action, said the social media campaign to convince Chili's and Sonic had gathered steam over the last week, attracting the support thousands of members, along with celebrities like actress Melissa Joan Hart and rock musician Billie Joe Armstrong. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/05/30/chilis-sonic-gun_n_5419942.html

  14. Here's a photo from the April 1999 issue of Guitar Techniques (UK). They tabbed Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) and I have posted links to the tabs below the image, in case anybody needs them, in order not to break the rules of this particular thread. I have almost all GT issues and this is literally the only time they wrote about Green Day, in any possible way. Weird, huh? Tabs 1 Tabs 2 Tabs 3 Tabs 4
