  2. Pretty sure they're Marshall. You can see the "M" shape on this photo

  3. All of the songs on Insomniac have a pop song structure but yes it's a lot darker. It's actually my favourite album ....

  4. Both of these are from Total Guitar, the one without a date is from the July 1997 issue.

  7. On top of what I said before, it could be down to the fact that Billie is endorsed by Gibson and Mike by Fender, both of whom make their own amps. There could be some kind of clash there where the band aren't allowed to advertise Marshall amps as a result.

  8. There could be a few reasons. It might be to do with not wanting to endorse the product, or if it was being filmed for TV then they might not want to give the company free advertising. I know they use Marshalls but I don't think they're endorsed by them or anything, so that's probably it. Or maybe they just don't like the look of plastic logos on the front of their amps, haha.

  9. thats true. And darkness really ain't the problem, the melodies just aren't as fine. And as for pop structure, Green Day aren't labeled as pop punk band for nothing...

  11. Mike should write more songs. I really like his lyrics, they're honest and relatable.

  12. I thought this was a joke when there was a radio discussion about singers who put on ascents - when they said Billie sounds English I nearly fell over laughing. I just don't hear it.

  13. I thought I could trust you with matters of Englishness. "So damn bored I'm going blind" is delivered with one of the most obvious California twangs ever.

  14. Absolutely. That's some serious next level shit right there, totally on another level entirely.

  15. Throwback Thursday: The First Music Videos We Ever Saw I can confidently say that Green Day were the vessel for my first music-meets-video experience, with their explosive 2004 single, “American Idiot.” My 10-year old self was enthralled by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong’s seemingly imperturbable punk-rock persona and rebellious overtone—not to mention his physical appearance in the video influenced my apparel choices for many years following. Nevertheless, it was watching the band in this video (and the scenes of them rocking out in that weird green substance—seriously though, what is that stuff?) that aided in kickstarting my travels in music, the same one I’m on today. —Tyler Sharp http://www.altpress.com/features/entry/throwback_thursday_the_first_music_videos_we_ever_saw

  17. To be fair nothing can compare to the Reading 04 performance of Basket Case. Possibly the best-ever single performance of any Green Day song.

  20. This has already been rehashed countless times--their set wasn't cut, Billie was being a childish drunken fuckwit, and it's a good thing he got help.

  21. I'm getting excited about the new pictures will see from Australia. Also, I was one of "those" people that didn't know very much about the band's music (Warning and Dookie and AI forward) until I joined GDC. Never had heard of FBHT's or the other side projects. Still felt like a pretty big fan though.

  22. I get excited when anyone knows anything by them. I don't really care if it's even just songs from the 90's.

  23. I'm always kinda personally offended when someone dismisses "Good Riddance" on here. "Jesus of Suburbia" is unquestionably their best song, but "Good Riddance" is the one that will last forever in the hearts of listeners.
