  4. I really admit the Demo version is really growing on me. The first time I heard that I thought the fancy guitar was a little unnecessary, but on second thought, maybe the version on Uno was too stripped-down. Oh, and about State of Shock again: I think that song really proves that Billie tends to be better singing about himself and his personal problems or opinions. I don't know, "I'm going into a state of shock" or "I'm too tired to be bored, I'm too bored to be tired" just strikes me as being more (I don't know the right word to use here) 'authentic' than "Wanna be your troublemaker" or "Someone kill the DJ."

  5. It's amazing just how much Mikes vocals transform the sound of that song. Though it's still a pretty poor song.

  7. Seems to be an unpopular opinion in this thread but I find stating your opinion on an album as if it's a fact and talking down to those who disagree about it as if your taste in albums is objectively superior so they have to justify their inferior taste to be quite arrogant and unnecessary. And yeah, Green Day isn't famous and unpopular bands sell out 70,000 seat stadiums When I first heard their early stuff it was kind of like that for me because I'd never listened to rough sounding recordings like that of any band. So it was quite a shock having been used to top quality recordings from them and I had to get used to that sound so that I could actually appreciate the songs instead of just noticing the rough finish of them. Doesn't take long though and worth doing!

  9. I like the demo version a lot. The difference the guitar tone and Mike's vocals make is enormous.

  13. Yep. Karl Marx was a massive Green Day fan. But yeah, to say they're not famous anymore is ridiculous, but I suspect troll mode was fully engaged.

  14. It's an outrageous claim to say that Green Day isn't famous. They might not be popular now, but Green Day has already built a huge reputation and fame. Everyone knows who Green Day is.

  22. I don't see how an album containing 21st Century Breakdown, Know Your Enemy, East Jesus Nowhere, Viva La Gloria, Christian's Inferno, East Jesus Nowhere, Peacemaker, Last Of The American Girls, Murder City, Little Girl, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, The Static Age, American Eulogy or See The Light can be considered slow moving. It only has four slow songs out of 18 on it, and one of them (Restless Heart Syndrome) is one of the best things they've ever done. If you want a punk album, Green Day aren't exactly the right place to start. I don't think they're trying to sound like anything in particular, and I don't understand the logic of disliking music because of what it isn't trying to be.

  23. Exactly, Toht's face is melting because he can't handle the pure epicness of the sound being blasted at him.

  24. So moving on... How is the Trilogy better than Breakdown, other than it's not?

  25. expand their music to keep on keepin on! 1. The Trilogy was a reduction, not an expansion. Their still doing well as a band 2. HA! The Trilogy tanked, as you're well aware. unless your as successful as them i would say dont judge them! 3. I absolutely loathe that argument. I can't cook, but I know a shitty burger if I eat it. a famous band 4. They're not really famous at this point, hate to break it to you. you all love green day so stop hatin on em so much 5. We love them, but it's not a blind love. We're allowed to dislike stuff they put out rather than slavishly devoting ourselves to everything Billie vomits out, and quite honestly that makes us more discerning and better fans. Also, that spelling made my eyes bleed.

  30. Basically what C-dawg said. Everyone shits themselves over the song and honestly it's not that great. It's awkward, long, drawn out and its melody is rather generic. What do the lyrics even mean? Old toys This plastic heart Loners and fools Are tearing me apart Bad luck Bitters and soda Anguish and shame The modern fool Bad sex Buy me a train wreck Something for my troubled mind ...? People's reaction to it reminds of me DRB. It's not THAT good, and seems to try a bit hard to be more epic than it should be. I can think of plenty of more emotional, relatable songs with more epic tension or whatever than Brutal Love. Plus, they tried swapping Good Riddance for it as a concert-closer. Um, fuck you. No.

  31. I'm sorry but the line "you led me to the well but wouldn't let me drink, swallowing my pride and I never even got a taste" is brilliant and the guitar and bass harmonies are unlike anything they've done
