  2. "Platypus" is essentially one word. "Cuzzzeighaightchew, cuzzzeighaightchew, cuzzzeighaightchew, cuzzzeighaightchew!"

  4. Apart from the annoying 'yeah yeah yeah' intro, the first two parts are pretty good. They lyrics in the second part could do with some touching up I'll admit. I just wish the first two parts had been developed into fuller mini-songs You're a bassist, so you're legally obliged to like the bass solos and the guitar solo is pretty damn awesome. Unfortunately it falls down from there. Repeating a verse? Lazy writing. The whole 'carried away' outro? Boring and unconnected - it sounds like it belongs to a different song. Like I said, DRB isn't the greatest song ever, but it has its highlights and is fun to listen to. A bit like parts of the trilogy, really.

  6. A totally boring photo of the band walking around that isn't even one of the most interesting photos from the shoot is better than the cool lightning man design that means "warning: danger of death" for the cover of an album called Warning? Each to their own

  8. I liked the trilogy. I really don't understand why almost everybody seems to hate it. Ok, Dos sucks (except for lazy bones, amy and stray heart) and no song on the trilogy is FUCKING awesome (x-kid is fucking awesome, though), but it's got good songs and shitty songs, like every Green Day album. Out of the 37 songs I can put together 17, 18 songs I really liked and that I listen to every week. I don't think they should stop making new songs. They just turned 40. They still have a lot to offer. I just think that they should just stop with the sloppy, over produced sound, and that billie joe should stop with the teen lyrics e do some mature stuff. Just registered on the forum, I'm brazilian, sorry for the bad english.

  9. If they do become a greatest hits band, I really hope they stop before they hit sixty. Most people here seem to think they'll keep going until one of them dies (a bewilderingly optimistic view, but nevermind), but I would never want that for them. I was just watching footage of The Who and The Rolling Stones performing at that age, and save for the former at the Concert for New York they're fucking depressing. I mean, the Stones were never a great live band, but even their energy has gone way down, and The Who are such a ghost of their former selves it's sad. I don't want to see the same thing with Billie, Mike and Tre.

  12. Does GDC do something like a witness protection programme? Coz you might just need it Plenty of people. I don't think it deserves as much praise as it gets, and there is a lot that can be done to improve it, but it's good fun to listen to and isn't the worst on the album.

  18. I guess that shows just how bad the rest of the Trilogy lyrics were if someone who isn't in Green Day can write a better Green Day lyric than Green Day can Though as someone mentioned recently, I also quite like 'you led me to the well but wouldn't let me drink, swallowing my pride and I never even got the taste' from Ashley, so maybe that can take the mantle of being one of the Trilogy's best lyrics.

  19. 'We all want to go to heaven but no-one wants to die' is one of the best lyrics in the Trilogy, even though it wasn't on the Trilogy.

  20. I think the demo of Missing You may have cracked my all time top 10 Green Day songs. I loved it anyway but to hear it with some balls is amazing.

  22. Green Day number 1 on Rolling Stone's 1994: The 40 Best Records From Mainstream Alternative's Greatest Year If Pearl Jam were too epic was for you, Nirvana too oblique, if your suburban teen inertia sprang from tedium not trauma — well, these nagging brats were here to spill hair dye on your living room carpet. Tré Cool's stop-start drum swats, Mike Dirnt's back-talk bass melodies, Billie Joe Armstong's nuanced machine-gun chording — each element in these 15 simple little tunes (save the goof bonus track) had a twitchy precision that'd get a fancier band called "arty." The noodling bass line for "Longview" may be Mingus compared to the heavy-thumbed pulse Dee Dee Ramone bequeathed to punk's low-end, but it's also every bit as aimless as a song about jerking off in front of the TV demands. "Basketcase" belittles its own stoner panic, "When I Come Around" is a punchy shrug of lovers' squabble, and the fierce sweep of "Welcome to Paradise" hints at the rock operas to come once they grew up to become a fancier, even artier band.
