"Hey guys, let's make a live-sounding album."
"Sounds good."
"Okay. So let's not allow the band's esteemed backing vocalist to do any backing vocals, and just have the same person dub them over. That sounds natural."
The next album needs to have that raw, live sound. Just let the band do their thing, don't overproduce the fuck out of it. Also, no vocal filters. I think Green Day has the ability to make a great album without an outside producer.
Demolicious is excellent so far.
99 Rev Demo>>>Original
Angel Blue Demo>>>Original (by a shit ton)
Carpe Diem Demo>>>Original
State of Shock is better than half the songs on the trilogy already.
And Let Yourself Go is better as well.
This is the live studio sound they needed.
Conspiracy: Rob Cavallo hates Green Day and set out to saboatage their career, by overproducing the fuck out of the trilogy and sucking the life out of it.
It was most likely amp distortion
Seriously though. In the same way Springsteen recorded a load of demos for Nebraska and then just released those as the album, Demolicious is exactly what the Trilogy should have been.

And yet she still did not talk to him, get a picture, or do anything to honor how much I used to love him I'm hella mad
A polished version of State of Shock might have been nice... The lyrical delivery is just bad on the demo, imo.
I dunno if it's unpopular or not, but I really like acoustic STN.
Songpop a music quiz game that is available on facebook, android and ios has added a Green Day playlist to the game. When I found out they were making it I was expecting only the hits and singles, but they actually have a fairly wide variety of songs.
