  2. Enjoy. Hear the sound of the falling rain - Jesus is now in the city, and it’s one of those days where it is just pouring rain. Oh, and check out what Liam found last night. Yes, that's Taylor Swift.

  3. There is more to songs than chord progressions. Especially GD songs when chord progressions are so unimportant to what they do.

  4. Blink 182 need to sue themselves since at least 50% of their songs have the same chord progression.

  5. It seems that if in doubt posh people will usually pronounce two word phrases with the emphasis on the second word. I think that's more often the correct way to say something. Although not in this case obviously, shows them up as not having heard of the band. Yeah. But that's undeniably the wrong way to say it

  6. But when have they ever written a riff that wasn't entirely reliant on a chord progression?

  9. Just watched the new HBO series Silicon Valley, because my husband is a programming nerd and it happened to come on right after Game of Thrones.... but I digress. End credits rolled with Minority (uncensored). Made me smile.

  10. I don't know who failed to remain calm Many of us here are musicians or at least have an interest in musical analysis and how songs fit together. If it seems like nitpicking then so be it, but a few of us are genuinely boring enough to find it interesting

  11. Hahaha, now, not kidding.. I'm sorry haha. What I meant to say is why you care about if some songs have the same chord progression? Its just silly to me.. Don't be too meticulous, enjoy the music and relax.

  14. Online lyrical analysis of Green Day songs makes me feel ill. Here are some selected highlights from one for American Idiot: The subliminal mindfuck America - A mindfuck is something that is strange and makes no sense and fucks with your mind. America is like a mindfuck. Well maybe I'm the faggot America - Billy Joe Armstrong has publicly stated that he is bi-sexual and believes[citation needed] all humans are born that way but society tells us that it is not okay. He has a wife and two kids though. I thought that line was kind of connected to Holidays lyrics ‘kill all the fags that dont agree’ implying yet again, people who are against the war are soft. hes saying maybe hes the faggot, as he is against war and if that means being homosexual then he is. I'm not a part of the redneck agenda - A redneck is a white, poor and racist people, who doesn’t live in a city (so he lives in small towns in Texas for example, which is famous for his racism and redneck culture). Also a reference to George Bush, being from Texas, known for having quite a few rednecks.

  15. I think really it's only a "rip off" if they copy something and try to pass it off as totally their own/wouldn't admit to it. Then there's sampling where they copy and give credit (as on Brutal Love), and paying homage where they deliberately and openly make it sound similar as a tribute and compliment to the song/artist (as they do may times on Warning, for example the verses of Waiting sound just like Downtown and Billie even sings the word "downtown" to acknowledge it), and just coincidences where it happens to be the same chords or have some other small similarity just by chance. I don't think Green Day's really ever done anything that fits into that first "rip off" category, only the other stuff and there's nothing wrong with any of that.

  16. His random noises are perfection. Silence. Yes, I understand. All I was trying to say is I think people who have never been to the U.S. have a warped view of what it's actually like. And getting a plane ticket does cost money, which many people don't have access to, even living in the "USA bubble." I've never been on a plane in my life, actually.

  18. Having seen them live last year I'd say that's a load of balls. He's never just been super happy all teh time anyway, my's been loads of times in his career that he's been miserable and showed emotions other than happiness on stage. But he looks a lot happier now than at teh average 90s show to me. He's still energetic and commanding teh crowd and being silly and laughing with teh other band members and all teh rest of it, teh shows are just as good now. And my only appears to be a very small handful of people saying otherwise
