Sort of random, but also very neat: Tonight I had the privilege to meet Marky Ramone, drummer of the Ramones, who spoke at my school tonight. After the show, I met him privately and he signed my belt and took pictures. During his presentation, though, he spoke a bit about Green Day. These are the random remarks he made: - All three of them are extremely nice guys, and he has hungout with them on many occasions - When the Ramones were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame, they didn't want to perform due to the recent death of Joey Ramone. Green Day volunteered to play Ramones songs, and apparently they rehearsed a lot and took it very seriously. Marky says that what Green Day did for his band was special and something he will never forget. - When asked about new music he listens to, he mentioned Foreverly, saying that it brings him great joy when artists test themselves and try new things. - He also said that Dookie is an excellent album, and that overall Green Day are very talented musicians.13 points

Yeah, it means he no longer has the energy to lift his guitar up and subsequently smash it while going on meaningless, irrelevant tirades about Justin Bieber.4 points

The whole "Green Day isn't punk" argument has no merit for TWO big reasons. 1. Green Day's musical style is punk rock. Anyone who listens to the Sex Pistols and the Ramones would agree. Even Marky Ramone tonight said that Green Day's style is very similar to the Ramones. When I first got into the Sex Pistols, minus the vocals, it was basically Green Day, if maybe a bit heavier. Like I said once before, the Ramones were more poppy than Green Day has ever been. 2. The selling out thing is so dumb. The Sex Pistols were a band that was put together, not formed. Sort of like One Direction. How "punk" is that? The Clash were once hated for signing to a major label. I read a newspaper headline of the announcement of their record deal that read "The Day Punk Died." People just forget eventually. Green Day didn't write American Idiot for money. They had inspiration and made it. And most of the songs on AI as just as "punk" as anything else in their discography.4 points

I listen to Green Day's music so much that I am to the point that I have a hard time listening to anything else. I have discovered that it is not good. I cannot even dance to "dance" music.1 point

Man just watched a couple songs from the shows in Australia and I notice a few things: 1.) Billie's voice is fantastic, better than any of the shows I've seen since 2011. 2.) He is putting EVERYTHING he has in to these songs (especially Brutal Love). 3.) Billie is fat Idk what they plan to do next (if anything), but I know that they are definitely back at the top of their game performance wise. If they decided they wanted to pull their act together writing wise and appearance wise, they could definitely pull off something very very good. No doubt in my mind. The real question is whether they want to, its no longer whether they can in my mind.1 point

Found this that was from February, don't know if already posted. It's 18 years since @GreenDay's Jakarta gig. I wrote a few words about it. Blame @ditto_p for the inspiration: http://hasiefardiasyah.tumblr.com/post/75345073086/yesterday-the-internet-or-at-least-my-social1 point

I somehow ended up listening to Nightlife at double speed. I now have Meth-addicted-hamster-life firmly stuck in my head. I'm traumatized for life.1 point

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion (I should hope it isnt) but it seems that when you are a huge fan but have not yet seen them live, everyone makes their show to out to be this AMAZING thing. Everyone just can't shut up about how AWESOME it is and it just drives you nuts because you want to see them so bad. You've seen the live footage, you've heard all of the songs a billion times, all you want to do is see them live. Then you actually see them live, and it exceeds all expectations. It is even better than anyone could have possibly put into words.1 point
