Not really weird, but my little brother was pissed off that we were listening to Green Day "again" so he made me put the radio on and Green Day happened to be playing.2 points

This. Walking Contradiction, Redundant, Stuck With Me. All had singles and/or music videos, none get enough setlist love, if any at all. What's really disappointing to me is that even in the small, intimate, secret shows, they rarely even bust out anything from Shenanigans. The lone exception to that being, what, Outsider?2 points

I had no fricking clue what Billie is singing for about half the time. Mostly on older songs. And I still don't, to some extent. Really, "BANANAKENNAFUCKINGEVERYTHINGUP MYTEMPLEFLIESNANAAGUBNCMSNFOWENUP" - that's what Bab's Uvula Who sounds like to me. (BTW, I just learned that the correct lyrics are 'My temper flies.' Right now as I'm typing this. So it's not 'my temple flies', hmm...) I forgot most of the mondegreens (monde-Green Day...lame pun, sorry) I heard when I first listened to songs (had to dig my memory up) - well aside from the one I just mentioned) but one I do remember right now is that line in Extraordinary Girl: "...like a pig left in the rain."2 points

that's a good point. Although it is a popular album, a lot of people don't appreciate songs on there like Emenius Sleepus, In The End, or Pulling Teeth.2 points

That one is one of the biggest victims of Disneyfied production on that album. The last chorus sounds like it's just been copied from the earlier ones and pitch shifted up a tone, rather than actually performed. It makes Billie's voice sound weird and squeaky.2 points

Follow You Around is the direction Green Day need to go.1 point

It was a great tour. I got to see them twice on that tour and both shows were entirely different but kicked the same amount of ass. It was great to see them busting out rare songs and Billie just seemed to be having so much fun, he was a completely different guy than American Idiot tour Billie. Even as recent as the Irving Plaza show they were being spontaneous as fuck and pulling out all kinds of old songs, you can't tell me that drugs and alcohol were the only reason behind all of it. Everything changed after iHeart and it sucks.1 point

Even B-list singles would be a breath of fresh air1 point

Just because you hate the trilogy doesn't mean there wasn't any good songs in there. And some of the songs are good. Being as the Trilogy is there newest project they should be playing about four or five more.1 point

I personally loved the trilogy songs in the setlist. Even if you are not a trilogy lover - they worked well & they could have changed to include 4 different ones & that would have been awesome. I will say I did get bored of the core setlist by the end of the tour though so I was glad they added nuclear family.1 point

I've got to agree with this, I only discovered Green Day on a lucky chance.1 point

one of my friends went to the musical last night in torronto and posted this on facebook. i thought i'd share with anyone who was interested "In case any Green Day friends are interested, here's some things I learned at the musical tonight: Extraordinary Girl just doesn't work without the flying. Michael Mayer was apparently very upset it couldn't be included. The musical wants to go to Australia, but no one down there is interested in having it. The movie is gaining pace and is apparently 1-1.5 years away; the script is being properly worked on now. Tom Hanks is still involved. Billie is most likely going to play St Jimmy; his name on the credits being a big expected drawcard. Also, the new(ish) touring cast are great!"1 point

Disagree wholeheartedly. Given what it did for their careers, they could stand to add one to the set. Whatsername would make a great encore.1 point

They did. Billie would tell stories during the intro, it was a fun live song. I still say cutting American Eulogy was a mistake.1 point
-
They're still undoubtedly fantastic musicians. You only have to see them live to see that. It's the songwriting which has kind of slipped.1 point

Quite so. He also shares a first and last name with the first man to walk on the moon.1 point
