Pretty Much and "You're the cloud, hang an arrow through my head. Hell comes crashing down once in my face. Magic man, ego-centric plasma dick man, and this time I don't want your VMA."3 points

How is that? It was very successful both in terms of critical acclaim and popularity, and pushing themselves to explore new things in music and performing was a huge creative inspiration and motivation for the band as well. Whether you happened to enjoy it or not I can't see how it was anything but a positive for the band and their future endeavours.3 points

Hmm yeah I think that's what makes me dislike it the most (aside from just not liking that melodramatic sounding musical style in general). Especially as AI isn't just a whiny teenage album and has much more maturity and intelligence to it. That aspect is one thing I'd say could've actually been done better rather than just being something that doesn't suit my taste.2 points

The guitar at the beginning of Holiday is classic. Instantly identifiable and one of their best riffs IMO idk why anyone would want to change it.2 points

Every time I listen to AI on vinyl, I'm shocked all over again at being reminded just how goddamn strong Holiday/BOBD are.2 points

Is it really? I've never seen the musical (nor have much interest to) but yeah its cool how much thought Billie put into his lyrics, right down to the way they were written and who's perspective it is. This may be unpopular but if I had to pick any woman to sing those songs it would be Kathleen Hannah, one cause I like her voice and two cause shes the one who sang the beginning of Letterbomb and I think Billie would want her to be whatsername's voice1 point

I could NOT stop staring at him the entire musical. He was beautiful. Seriously, he looked so much like him it was scary! His voice seemed kind of meh, but I was also in a weird sound bubble because I was in the second row. Seriously? That's cool! That part of the song is sung by a woman in the musical, so it makes sense. I'll have to check that out. (I LOVE the lyric booklet. I'm really weirdly obsessed with fonts and writing and things like that. ) I think in the musical they altered it a little to make it sound similar to WMUWSE. The Green Day version of the song sounds nothing like it at all. Have you heard that version?1 point

Fact: Billie is always hot as all fucking hell. There's something ridiculously attractive and adorable about how innocent he sounds.1 point

I love how Holiday starts on the Broadway version...1 point

Holiday and Know Your Enemy (at least Tony Vincent's version) are the two musical versions that I just can't tolerate. Everything else I like as much or even more than the original (BOBD, 21 Guns), or as much but for different reasons (Whatsername is perfect to me no matter the version).1 point

Does a "riff" consisting of E A E B even count as a riff? I really like it too, though.1 point

Nevermind. Just found out that it had the word "role-play" in it's bio. Still bugs me that that account has more followers than the official. Serves them right for not tweeting anything.1 point

Billie also said 99 Revolutions is the best song he's ever written. I don't trust his opinion lol Also, I've seen the musical twice and I find it weird how everyone sings in a whiny manner. Were they instructed to do that as part of the characters? The only person who sang in their normal voice was Billie's nephew in the current tour (who btw looks like Warning Billie with blonde hair).1 point

And also the main character in 1984. Not that that's got anything to do with Green Day1 point

the "So send my love a letterbomb and visit me in hell" part gives me chills. So fucking good even without the music. Homecoming is just so spectacular. Part I and V (especially the beginning of V) are some of the best work they've done. Jesus Of Suburbia, Holiday, and Homecoming are what should forever place this album above all else.1 point

I feel like now would be a good time to post the isolated vocal track from Homecoming. How could anyone ever claim it's anything short of perfect? From Billie's raw intro, to Mike's harmonies throughout most of the song, the filters and delay, Mike and Tre's lead parts... oh my god. This really showcases what sets them apart from other punk bands: backing vocals. The same goes for Jesus of Suburbia. Fantastic.1 point

A month and a half later I went to this coffee shop in my area and asked for an expresso, and SURPRISE! I got the one on the right After I fangirled I asked the waiter if he had more, and he gave me the other one ahah1 point
