Green Day is mentioned by Alice Cooper in this NME article: http://www.nme.com/news/alice-cooper/71420 "Mumford And Sons are great at what they do. But it's not rock 'n' roll. Don't call it rock 'n' roll. It's an offence to rock 'n' roll." [...] "Finally, I just went 'Okay – you guys don't want to be rock bands, great. That's better for us'. There's more for Foo Fighters, there's more for Green Day, more for the bands that really are rock bands. I don't understand why everybody is so afraid to be in a rock band." ---------------- Reminds me a lot of an old interview where he said: "I go to see bands, and in our era, you had to be a great band, you had to write great songs, and you had to do a great, great show. That does not exist anymore. The old pros do it. And the Foo Fighters do it. And Green Day does it. And that's about it. There's nobody else out there."8 points

Whenever I find myself 'fantasizing' about when Green Day will be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame, I can never picture anyone who I would want to see induct them that would also realistically be willing to do it (Sure, I'd love to see Johnny Depp do it, but that ain't gonna happen. I'd love to see Springsteen do it, but pigs will fly first. Dave Grohl is my only dream long shot)... but now I really do think Alice Cooper would make a good one5 points

I know people will hate it but I think it would be cool if Blink-182 inducted them. They're never shy about how much Green Day has inspired them, so I think it would be cool2 points

I already knew Johnny and Alice were friends Doesn't mean they see eye-to-eye on taste... Johnny Depp *played* with Mumford & Sons and we all just saw how Alice feels about them It's often someone younger but I hate the idea of any of the bands that were allegedly influenced by Green Day (of which there are many) inducting them. I guess Blink or MCR would be cool at least because they actually *know* the guys. But it doesn't necessarily have to be a inspiree who does it... like I don't think Green Day was particularly influenced by Guns N Roses but they did that. Springsteen inducted U2 and I feel like they're more contemporaries than inspirations to each other. The Rock Hall pulls a lot of random shit too with regards to this. I suppose you could say Blink is more a contemporary to Green Day than an inspiree, because even though they were newer and Dookie fans, they had their own sound. As long as I don't have to see Sum 41 or Good Charlotte up there I'm OK I do wonder if they ask the inductee band or artist "Who would you like to see induct you/would be willing to do it/would do a good job?" It's not like the Hall knows who Green Day's friends are necessarily I wonder how Iggy felt about Billie Joe up there. I'm sure they're friendly but there would be in Iggy's mind, a ton of musicians that he was closer with and more inspirational to him (not to mention better public speakers ) So I guess that's just karma... for all the shitty inductions Billie has put people through, maybe Green Day will get someone mute up there to talk about them (Naw, they did OK for GNR) Two years away. In the mean time I want to see who gets to induct Nirvana next year.2 points

Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp are good friends though. What makes you think Depp or Springsteen wouldn't be willing to do it? But yeah I think Alice Cooper would be a good choice. Or Metallica!2 points

Just jumping in to say that all guitarists get that. Not a wonder. I just fail to see that kind of stuff in him. He's just cute like a combo of a small sheep dog, a fight rooster and an Ewok, I guess. It's the charm of a cartoon character, right there. Laly, get a load of this:2 points

I think Pearl Jam would be cool for Nirvana But yeah I agree with your earlier post, if Dave Grohl would be the presenter I would be unbelievably happy! It makes more sense for them to have a contemporary introduce them, but I really don't want to see some early-2000s punk band introduce them1 point
