Green Day getting Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

I‘ve read that it’s streamed on the Walk of Fame site. But I very much hope that somebody films it or records the livestream because at exactly this time I will be at a Donots show…🫠

Green Day getting Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Is this broadcast or are we hoping somebody films it?
  7. Being a boomer, I grew up with The Who, Bowie, The Clash, Ramones etc but my love for Green Day helps keep me in touch with newer artists I think. Don’t remember how I first got into Frank Turner but def through GD for The Linda Lindsay and Amyl And The sniffers. Dare I say, didn’t love Prima Donna when I saw them, please forgive me @Montclare 😉

What Bands Have You Gotten Into Through Green Day?

Mike no longer owns/runs Rudy's. He gave it up and the staff took it over. He has posted pics of himself popping in when he's in the area since

What Bands Have You Gotten Into Through Green Day?

oh tons of bands, Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Network, The Longshot, The Coverups - oh no wait More seriously though, I'd say that although I had known of these artists previously, Green Day still helped get me more immersed in the likes of The Clash, Generation X, The Who, David Bowie and Tom Petty, mostly as a result of their live covers and talking about their influences in interviews. The Who in particular. It's always been my dad's favourite band and well, I guess the link to Green Day created some great bonding-through-music experiences He was particularly impressed with their A Quick One, While He's Away cover, as am I. The Who are a brilliant band. As my dad used to say, the quintessential rock band and I think I agree. It's hard to describe The Who as anything else other than a rock band, no further labels or qualifications needed. I think Billie must have got part of his flamboyant stage antics from them and Tre definitely seems to have taken inspiration from Keith Moon in some ways too. Though American Idiot (and 21CB) appear to be conceptually inspired by Tommy, which is a pivotal album no doubt, my personal favourite of theirs is Quadrophenia, which I think is a superb album. Truly a rock opera in every sense of the word. And the accompanying feature film is actually pretty decent too.

I could never really get into Crimpshine. Might need to give it another try.
  17. Screeching Weasel, the Riverdales, Pinhead Gunpowder, Rancid, Op Ivy, Squirtgun, Groovie Ghoulies, Crimpshrine, basically most of the Lookout bands

The Clash was another one for me after Mike had that restaurant 'Rudy's Can't Fail' (does he still part own that?), and named his son Brixton. 😅
  19. This! And The Clash
  20. No bands in particular apart from Weezer. But I like to listen to the original version of whatever songs Billie covered with Green Day or other bands
  21. Very interesting question. Of course GD's unique new sound "89/'90s spawned many new bands, some becoming famous. But imho no comparison. Billie Joe's family was into music in various forms which influenced him. I'm always fascinated how songwriters and musicians, are influenced by songs prior to their birth. Billie Joe is no exception. So yes, Ramones, obviously. But also '60 British Bands, including The Who, and The Kinks, for example.

Saviors (édition de luxe) - Out May 23rd !!

https://greenday.fm/ Greenday.fm confirms release of Ballyhoo on May 2, stating as celebration of receiving their Walk of Fame star day before.
  23. Kind of what it says on the tin, but are there any bands or artists that you've gotten into or explored directly because of Green Day? Either they've mentioned them in an interview, collabed with them, mentioned them as an influence etc. etc. I'm always looking for more bands and artists to explore, so interested to see what people say. There are lots of my part but I'll start with a few: - Operation Ivy (fairly obvious, but through the cover and then exploring the original) - The Ramones - Rancid (Again, East Bay punk scene cited as influence). - Frank Turner (saw him support GD at Wembley Stadium in 2010 and he was awesome, been a fan ever since). - The Linda Lindas (watching them kill it last summer as support on the Saviors tour made me check out their stuff). There are many more, but those just to start!

I think Mike probably has worn eyeliner quite often as part of regular stage/photoshoot/event makeup, just usually in a subtle not meant to be noticed way. Probably just a bit more added as he's older in the same way they all have more of that type of makeup now alongside Billie and Tre's bolder statement eyeliner/eyeshadow. Maybe more noticeable on this good quality video.

I think you may be right. Just watched the download from @Yosuke Hanamura (thank you again) and I think there is a hint of eyeliner or maybe mascara about Mike! Well spotted, maybe for tv they all had to have. Also, you can’t see Billie’s moles on his cheek, so make up def there.
