Wish I didn't have class when Regis and Kelly will be on, I love them in general, but having the AI cast makes it must-watch-TV!

Yea, I think its just the guys from the cast. I guess it is an odd choice but I'm excited for it :)

Not at all IMO -- it's one of the best songs they do in the whole show (they *really* nailed it last night), plus it's very familiar to most folks.

I won't be going until this summer either. I'm a couple hours away from the city and school keeps me pretty busy, but I'm really excited about it now!

Leave it to the people at the NY Press to find something negative to say about last night's show:

I wonder what alternative reality they live in. "Ailing musical" usually doesn't mean packing the house nightly for a solid month of previews and then three kick-ass performances in a row for the opener.

Anyone know how ticket sales for weeks/months out are doing?

Last I saw (not sure what dates), the percentage of tickets sold was high 70's

Not bad. Looks like they're having a great opening week at least. Hoping the momentum holds in there.....

Any idea how far out they've sold tickets for?

Ahhhh, I'm going tonight! I'm so excited! Really, it was all I was thinking about all week.. I'm hoping to see one of the guys, but with the tubbies show, probably not :\ BTW, does anyone know if they're doing the "Broadway Cares" charity thing like all the other Broadway shows & selling a signed poster? It would be so cool to get one...

Shows usually in previews don't do the spring fundraising for BC/EFA. And fundraising ends on Tuesday.

The list of special things happening has anote event:

Next Tuesday, the cast will be doing a meet and greet and Bloomingdales to promote their ten-window display there. First get 50 tshirts, first 100 signed posters, and 10 people will be choosen for tickets. All happens at 5 PM on the 2nd Floor.

Lol by the time I finally get there, all these events will be over.

What other events besides this one are there? The Bloomingdales one sounds fun. Lets see if I can get over there after work! Anyone know when they're going to announce the rest of their tour dates?

Also, has anyone heard what the line looks like at Don Hill's right now? I'm having dinner tonight at 7 in the village and was going to maybe swing by after to see if I could catch Foxboro at 8:45pm, but I don't know how crazy it's going to be...

Not really an odd choice. It's all about playing to the demographic. The viewers of that show are an older crowd, so a mellow song makes sense. Also one that has no swearing.

Sadly, I had to fly home from NY early evening, so I missed the AI show that night where the guys performed the 2 songs :( But I did go to the taping of Regis & Kelly during the morning. After the 'live' show taping was finished, they announced that they do have some special guests coming by to do some additional pre-tapings for future shows. I was wearing my AI zipped hooded sweater I bought at the show and the cameraman asked if I knew any 'inside information' (which I never do, since I don't have the contacts :(;) ). But it got my friend and I wondering if GD might stop by for one of the tapings...well, it wasn't GDay, but it was John Gallagher Jr, Stark Sands, & Michael Esper! And Michael Mayer was in the studio as well, though he stayed off to the side just beaming and looking very proud for the guys. They performed WMUWSE accoustic then Regis asked a couple of questions (very short interview). Then after R & Kelly recorded a couple of promos, they had the cast run thru the song 2 more times...so we heard it 3 times :) It was so nice to hear the beautiful harmony clearly--clearer than it comes across on stage.

I glanced over at Michael Mayer a couple of times and he was singing along. Also, while the R & Kelly were recording the promos, the cast was over by Michael and some guy in a tan suit--and the guy in the suit was pointing us out to Stark Sands and I could see Stark say to him "they were at opening night" . So he recognized us :) Also, in between takes, my friend and I yelled out compliments about the show, which got a smile from the cast. And Michael Esper looked up and saw me and waived and said 'hello'. He recognized me too :) They were the last guests to tape and then they had us leave the studio. So we got outside before the cast and Michael left. So we waited and got Michael Mayer to sign our playbills. We already had an autograph from Michael Esper, so we just got a picture with him and told him it was a nice surprise they came by. We got a picture and autographs from John Gallagher Jr and Stark and also told them it was a nice surprise to see them. We told all 3 that we had no idea they would be on the show--and they said really? I guess they thought we heard about it . he he. I told them I had already planned to wear my sweater to the show anyway as a 'free plug' to the show :) I let them know it is just too bad I had to fly out before the evening's show and Stark asked where I'm from. I told him Seattle and he said 'thank you for coming.' All of the cast are so gracious!!

So we left the studio very happy and I left with the idea that aside from whatever they recorded at the theater itself, this will probably be the extent of the preview on Monday, so I probably didn't miss seeing GDay again- like I did last night and like I will tonight. I sure blew it when making the vacation dates ;) he he. But it was a very nice way to end the trip...and yesterday was actually my 2nd choice on my ticket request, so I'm glad the first choice didn't come thru!! Oh, and we went to Strawberry Fields after the taping and a lady saw my sweater and asked about the show as well....we were more than happy to recommend it to whoever asked!

i can't wait for whatever that bullshit MTV was filming to air on tv. i wonder how many times they'll have to edit out my british guy yelling "penis" into the camera.

OMG. I didn't even hear that and you guys were right next to me!

Amazing night last night! The show was epic as usual. Massive thanks to Marian and Jason who gave Jason's MTV tickets to me and Zoe since she couldn't make it back into town. I picked them up first thing in the morning on Wednesday and I think that made a big difference with where we were seated - first row left side. That was awesome enough during the musical, of course - plenty of spit and sweat from Michael Esper in particular since the couch is right there, hah. Our happiness at the seat location was magnified 10 bajillion times when Green Day started getting set up to play. It was wild - just like being in the pit at a very mini concert but no pushing from the back. So much fun to watch the cast rock out to Green Day!

I've got some great pictures, will try to share a few here. They're on the other computer.

Plaid ducky - I went to the baseball game as well. That was a lot of fun, wasn't it? Gorgeous day for the game and the Idiots kicked butt.

Oh my gosh, what an incredible show. Seriously, the wind was knocked out of me! I got to meet the cast, and Mary is such a sweetheart! My mother was in giggles over Tony, as she thinks he's the cutest thing now  They were all such sweet & talented people, and I wouldn't have casted anyone else. Really, absolutely brilliant!

In all my life of living in New York, i have not been to one Broadway play except for this. It was amazing. That is really all i can say. it was amazing. It began with american idiot then johnny said "Last night i jerked off to oblivion" and everyone in the theater laughed. It was just beautiful. I was actually scared about seeing it, cause deep down i had a feeling it would suck, and well yea it didn't. It was just amazing. Everyone in it did such a good job and had such nice voices. I originally didn't like the cast version of 21 Guns, 'cause it sounded to gospel choir like to me.... but it hearing it live made it just wonderful. The dancing was so, so, i don't even know how to explain it. I actually cried a couple of times during the musical. I cried during 21 Guns and Wake me Up When September Ends. I was so happy to have been able to experience it, cause i would have never thought that i would see it in my life if it weren't for Megan, or "showbiz" around here. Her mother took 6 of us girls from Long Island to the city. It was overall a wonderful experience. If you're scared that it's gonna suck and that you wasted your money on a bunch of crappy show tunes, well it's not crappy. It was fucking amazing. It was truly one of the best experiences in my life.
